Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary For quantitative photometric analysis of elements the method of differential spectroscopy is proposed. As against usual operations this method offers greater sensitivity, better detection limits and decreased noise-level of the photometer. Since the usually inconvenient absorption of the free ligand does not appear, the complex concentration can be determined exactly, also in case of neighbouring extinction maxima of ligand and complex. In addition to a general improvement of conventional methods, the use of new sensitive ligands for quantitative analysis and the simultaneous detection of two elements are rendered possible. The advance in sensitivity is demonstrated by the example of fluoride analysis with cerium-alizarine complexonate, while the possibility of new methods for simultaneous analysis is shown by the example of W/Mo-, W/V-, and V/Sn-determinations with pyrogallol red.
