Description: Formulae for the gravitational radiation due to the anisotropic axisymmetric emission of neutrinos from a small source are derived. We find that a burst of neutrinos released anisotropically from a supernova will generate a burst of gravitational radiation that may be comparable in amplitude and energy to the gravitational radiation generated by the fluid motion in the collapse of the supernova core.

Description: We consider how an axisymmetric, uniformly and slowly rotating homogeneous star might be affected by the loss of energy and angular momentum via neutrino emission. For example, these losses can cause a collapsing, rotating star to flatten either faster or slower than would be the case if these losses were not taken fully into account, depending on the efficiency of the angular momentum loss mechanism.

Description: During an observation of NGC 5128 (Cen A) by the rotating modulation collimator on board the SAS-3 X-ray observatory in early June 1975, data were obtained which suggest the presence of an extended source with about 3 arcmin FWHM surrounding an extremely compact object located at the radio/IR nucleus. The point component exhibited a 25% increase in intensity over a period of 2 to 5 hours.

Notes: Hydrostatic extrusion of high density polyethylene at an extrusion ratio of 15:1 was investigated in the temperature range between 100 and 134°C. A thin-walled tube was extruded having a tensile strength of 370 MPa and a tensile modulus of 10 GPa. The extrusion rate was limited by severe extrudate distortion which occurs at a limiting shear stress under stick-slip conditions. Even during steady extrusion wall slip was evident. At a constant extrusion speed, the extrusion pressure was found to be very sensitive to the extrusion temperature. An increase from 120 to 125°C reduced the extrusion pressure by half. Various thermal pretreatments of the starting billets were found to have little effect on the extrusion behavior and physical properties of the extrudate.
