    Notes: Abstract A kairomone from adultHeliothis zea (Boddie) scales is an important factor in the host selection process ofTrichogrammapretiosum Riley. If the host density is sufficiently high (i.e., 1 egg/500 cm2) and higher), a complete coverage or solid treatment of kairomone spray may be the optimum for increasing parasitization rates, but this is not the case at lower host densities (e.g., 1 egg/2000 cm2). At the lower densities, the kairomone must be distributed in such a way as to retain the parasitoids in the target area without inhibiting their movement from one ovi-position site to the next. Simulated moth scale particles appear to fill this need since their density can be regulated to provide the optimum frequency of parasitoid stimulation and thus maximum rates of parasitization at prevailing host densities.

On the Formation of Hydroxyaryl-substituted Methane-bis-phosphonic Acid Tetraestersα-Amino-α-(4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert.-butyl-phenyl)-methanephosphonic acid diethylester 1 can be converted by different methods to (4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert.-butyl-phenyl)-bis-phosphonic acid tetraethylesters 2. Course and intermediates of these smoothly proceeding reactions are investigated.
    Notes: α-Amino-α-(4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert.-butyl-phenyl) - methanphosphonsäurediäthylester 1 lassen sich auf verschiedenen Wegen in (4-Hydroxy- 3,5-di-tert.-butyl-phenyl)-methan-bisphosphonsäuretetraäthylester 2 überführen. Ablauf und Intermediärprodukte dieser z. T. auffallend glatt verlaufenden Reaktion werden untersucht.

Reaction of Ortho-acid Chlorides with Ethylene OxideOrtho-acid chlorides react with ethylene oxide in dependence of their structure either to ortho-acid β-chloroethylester or by splitting off 1,2-dichloroethane to the corresponding carbonyl- and phosphoryl derivatives, respectively. Using this method i. a. pentacovalent P-derivatives (pentaoxyphosphoranes 14, 16) are available.
    Notes: Orthosäurechloride reagieren mit Äthylenoxid je nach Struktur entweder zu Orthosäure-β-chloräthylester oder unter Abspaltung von 1,2-Dichloräthan zu den entsprechenden Carbonyl-bzw. Phosphorylderivaten. Auf diesem Weg sind unter anderem pentacovalente P-Verbindungen (Pentaoxyphosphorane 14, 16) zugänglich.

Esterification and N-Formylation of α-Aminomethane-bisphosphonic Acids with TriethylorthoformateIn contrast to simple mono- and bisphosphonic acids esterification of dialkylaminomethanebisphosphonic acids with orthoformate (OAE) proceeds very slowly. Monoalkyl and monoarylaminomethanebisphosphonic acids, respectively react with OAE in constrast to analogous hydroxy compounds more readily primarily by formylating the N-atom and then esterification to formyl aminomethane bisphosphonictetraesters 10. Acetaminomethanephosphonic acid (12) reacts without N-formylation, while the aminomethanebisphosphonic acid (14) reacted to give a mixture of mono- and bis-formylated products 15 and 16. By acidic hydrolysis of 10 the ester- and formylgroups are splitt off, while the ester group can selectively be removed by reaction with Me3SiBr/H2O. - As shown by 1H-, 13C- and 31P-n.m.r. spectroscopy the phosphorylated formamides 10 exists in two rotameres, the ratio depending on the solvent. The n.m.r. signals could be correlated to E-resp. Z-form undoubtedly by using shift-agents or the benzene-diluting technique. A rotational barrier of 22,8 kcal for 10c could be calculated.

Investigations on the C - N-Rearrangement of Aminomethane Bis- and Tris-phosphoryl CompoundsAttempts to prepare aminomethane-bis-phosphoryl-compounds of the types 5, 9 and 13, i.e. with a NH-function on the methin-carbon-atom, yielded independently of the synthetic path in all cases by C-N-rearrangement of a phosphoryl-group the N-phosphorylated aminomethane-phosphonic acid esters 6, 10/11 and 14. The course of this rearrangement has been studied on characteristic examples.
    Notes: Versuche zur Darstellung von Aminomethan-bis-phosphorylverbindungen des Typs 5, 9 bzw. 13, also mit einer NH-Funktion am Methin-Kohlenstoffatom führen unabhängig vom Syntheseweg stets unter C-N-Wanderung eines Phosphorylrestes zu N-phosphorylierten Aminomethanphosphonsäureestern 6, 10/11 bzw. 14. Der Ablauf dieser Umlagerung wird an charakteristischen Beispielen untersucht.

Bromination of o-substituted Aromatic o-Phenylene PhosphitesAryl-o-phenylene phosphites of the type 4 at room temperatures give with bromine by cyclization of the primary adduct the bromo-spirophosphorane 6A as the main product. As by products phosphorus tribromide, pentaoxyphosphoranes 10, and o-substituted phenyl-dibromophosphites 8 could be identified. The formation of the observed products can be explained by assumption of ligand-exchange reactions.
    Notes: Aryl-o-phenylenphosphite des Typs 4 geben bei Raumtemperatur mit Brom unter Cyclisierung des Primärproduktes als Hauptprodukt das Brom-spirophosphoran 6A; als Nebenprodukte wurden Phosphortribromid, Pentaoxyphosphorane 10 und o-subst. Phosphorigsäurephenylesterdibromide 8 nachgewiesen. Die Bildung der Produkte kann durch Ligandenübertragungsreaktionen erklärt werden.
