Description:
A new type of lake and shore assemblage has been found in the Late Triassic age rocks of North Carolina and Virginia (Dan River group). It includes abundant aquatic reptiles, fishes, at least seven orders of insects, crustaceans, and a diverse flora. Cyclic changes in the fauna and flora correlate with sedimentary cycles, which together reflect the repetitive development and extinction of large meromictic lakes.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Olsen, P E -- Remington, C L -- Cornet, B -- Thomson, K S -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 1978 Aug 25;201(4357):729-33.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Record origin:〈/span〉 〈a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17750230" target="_blank"〉PubMed〈/a〉
