Abstract We derive new Faddeev-type equations for amplitudes directly related to the three-body transition amplitudes. They are simpler than the usual Faddeev equations in that their effective potentials are independent of the energy and only require two-body state wavefunctions and half-off-shell amplitudes as input. Moreover, after an angular momentum decomposition, the potentials can easily be made real, and the breakup amplitudes explicitly exhibit a Watson final state interaction factor.
