Abstract The transition from droplet flow to stream flow is examined theoretically for flow of liquid from a vertical capillary and runoff from the edge of an inclined plane under the influence of the force of gravity, and also for spraying of a liquid from a rotating perforated drum and a smooth disk. The formulas proposed agree satisfactorily with experiment.
