Conclusions A study was made of the chemical stability of dodecaborides of the rare-earth metals of the yttrium subgroup, and also of zirconium and uranium, in acids and their mixtures. It was established that the stability of the dodecaborides is higher than that of other boride phases of the correspondingmetals; all the dodecaborides investigated resist attack by hydrochloric and sulfuric acids and are decomposed only by oxidizing acids. Yttrium and ytterbium dodecaborides exhibit higher resistance to attack compared with the other phases. A rational method is proposed for the chemical analysis of dodecaborides.
