Description / Table of Contents:
With cobalt(II) perchlorate and bases (B = pyridine, triphenyl phosphine, aniline, tributyl amine) diacetylmonoxime anil (Dma) forms chelates of the composition [Co(Dma)(Dma-H)B]ClO4 and [Co(Dma)(Dma-H)]ClO4 (VI). Evidently, in the solid state these complexes are dimeric with a cobalt-cobalt bond. Because of sterical reasons there is a relatively long distance between the two metal atoms, and an incomplete spin compensation occurs (magnetic moments between 302 and 306 B.M.). On reaction with liquid or gaseous ammonia VI forms [Co(Dma)(Dma-H)(NH3)2]ClO4 or [Co(Dma)(Dma-H)(NH3)]ClO4. Both compounds show a behaviour characteristical for cobalt(II) complexes of the low-spin-type.
Notes:
