Notes: One of the problems of a theory of integration consists in the difficulty to define ‘integration’ itself. The theory of international trade can hardly provide such a definition, for the problem of integration are related to the various fields of theory. The author defines integration as the merger of two or more national economies. In such an integrated economy some of the national public offices must be joint together in order to solve the problems of the whole integrated area. This is the reason why the author prefers an ‘institutional’ to a ‘functional’ solution. The way the economies are integrated depends on their structure. The present-day problem is the integration of ‘mixed’ economies of the western Europe type. The most important requirements of a total integration are: (1) giving up the internal border-lines, (2) centralization of the national policies and erecting a joint legal constitution, (3) assimiliation of the national economic structures. The examination of the political and economic consequences of integration shows that uniting several economies into one is possible without complete political union. The process of economic integration is autonomous and can be pushed forward isolatedly. But it is not possible as yet to give exact details about the economic effects of integration.

Notes: Abstract An isomeric state of Hf177 withT 1/2=(1,12±0,10)s was found by a fast chemical separation of the hafnium daughter from the 155d Lu177m activity. We measured the same half-life by observing the delayedβ-γ-coincidences. A systematic investigation of the whole region 5s≧T 1/2≧10−7s by the technique of delayed coincidences gave no further isomerism. We assign the observed half-life to the 23/2 three particle state of Hf177 at 1315 keV and assume that the second hypothetical three particle state at 1337 keV does not exist. The 21/2 rotational state of theK=9/2 band is populated by a strongly converted 14,16 keVγ-transition from the isomeric state at 1315 keV. The 14,16 keVM I andN I conversion lines were observed by use of a double focusing magneticβ-spectrometer. The isomerism is caused by theK-selection rule. The retardation of the following threeγ-transitions by different degrees ofK-forbiddeness is discussed. The pulse height spectrum, measured by means of a Li-drifted Ge-detector, does not show the 36,52 keV-γ-transition which was previously assumed to populate the 1301keV-state. In addition to the knownγ-transitions we found a 40,9 keV-line. This is probably the transition between the 1301,1 keV and the 1260,3 keV-states.

Notes: Abstract For samples of the system Nb-Sn sintered between 700 and 1500°C with 20 and 25 percent Sn the inductive and resistive transition to superconductivity has been measured. Especially the influence of magnetic fields on the transition has been examined. The inductive transition is deduced from shielding currents, the anomalous rise of the transition temperature for the 4Nb∶1Sn-samples first found byJansen turns out to be a consequence of higher critical currents of these samples. At low sintering temperatures a rise of the critical fields has been observed.

Notes: Abstract The temperature variation of the initial suszeptibility has been measured for bulk sintered and diffusion samples as well as for finely ground sintered and melted samples of superconducting Nb3Sn, Nb3Al, and V3Si. Penetration effects must be accounted for the width of the inductive transition curve if the interior of the sample is not completely shielded by current loops. Absolute values of the penetration depths after extrapolating to zero temperature were estimated to (0,18±0,04) μ for Nb3Sn, (0,19±0,04) μ for Nb3Al, and (0,27±0,05) μ for V3Si. The transition temperature obtained by suszeptibility measurements is lowered with decreasing grain size.

Notes: Summary 4 cocarcinogenic compounds have been isolated from croton oil by combination of countercurrent distribution and column chromatography without chemical procedures. The hitherto unknown component A3 is described as an acetic acid and palmitic acid ‘Phorboldiester’ with the formula C38H60O8.

Notes: Summary After inducing experimentally a stenosis of the aorta abdominalis in rabbits, the mitochondria of the aortic endothelium were fluorescence-optically demonstrated, and quantitatively investigated above as well as below the stenosis. The changes in the number of the mitochondria are proportional to the values of blood pressure, and are discussed in relation to changes in the shape of the endothelial cells.
