Notes: Many plants that serve for human nutritional purposes contain compounds from which physiologically active substances are formed by enzymic reactions. Usually such compounds, and the enzymes which react with them, are located in different cells, so that the active substances are formed only on crushing the plant: Examples are the lachrymatory factor and the antimicrobial substances formed from the different cysteine-S-oxides of the onion and garlic, as well as the goitrogenic compounds formed from the thioglucosides occuring in the Brassica species.

Notes: The distributions of nitrosylruthenium nitrate complexes are discussed in TBP - HNO3 system using 10-9 M. Rd Ru. It was found to be affected by the concentration of HNO3, NO3, TBP and the temperature. The results are represented and discussed.

Description / Table of Contents: The reaction of K2[PdCl4] with glutamic acid leads to being an inner-complex palladium glutamate. Because of the free COOH groups, this chelate compound behaves as an acid which may be titrated with alkali hydroxide. Also the corresponding sparely soluble lead diglutamatopalladate(II), , was prepared.
The behaviour of Pd glutamate against thiourea and ethylene diamine was studied; hereby [Pd(thio)4]3[Cr(SCN)6]2 and [Pd en2]3[Cr (SCN)6]2 were isolated.

Description / Table of Contents: Traces of Co++ ions, added to an aqueous solution of basic magnesium carbonate, activate strongly in a first-order reaction the decomposition of H2O2. In the same homegeneous system, Mn++ ions exhibit no influence, in contrast with their high activity on solid basic magnesium carbonate.
