Description / Table of Contents:
The kinetics of devitrification of an inorganic glass has been investigated using as a sample GRAHAM's salt, which is considerated according to HÄGG, as a chain glass. The product of devitrification, the ringstructured Na3[P3O9], differs in its analytical behavour from the glass which is build chiefly by long chain polyphosphat anions permitting thus the quantitative tracing of the processes taking place during the crystallisation. Our experiments made it possible to proove the validity of the KOLMOGOROV-AVRAMI equation for this special case of crystallisation; moreover it is shown that the coefficient k from that equation has a temperatur function, which is in accordance whith the crystallysation theory of STRANSKI and KAISCHEW.The devitrification mechanism of other glasses with probably an analogical structure is discussed.
Notes:
