Notes:
The production of essentialy homogeneous sluries involves both initial solids suspension and expension of the particle bed to fill the container. When geometry and solids concentration are held constant, both phenomena are found to be controlled by similar dimensionless groupings of power per unit volume, density, and relative velocity between the fluid and particle. The dimensionless group applicable to bed expansion is shown to be consistent with hydro-dynamic theory. Design equations for use with the paddle type of impeller are presented.
