Description / Table of Contents:
By quantitative evaluation of 1H-NMR broad-line spectra it is shown, that there are two isolated protons with rH-H = (2.22 ± 0.02) Å in the structure of Li-, Na-, and K-paratungstates, whereas Li-, Na-, and K-metatungstates and metatungstic acid have two protons with rH-H = (1.92 ± 0.03) Å in the inner anion sphere. the formulas M10I[(HO)2)2 W12O38] n H2O and M6I[(HO22W12O36] · nH2O are proposed for paratungstates and metatungstates, respectively. The formulas for paratungstates, metatungstates and K-Φ-metatungstate, proposed by GLEMSER et al., must be seen in a critical view.Corresponding to the formalas H3[PW12O40], H4[SiW12O40], and H5[BW12O40] phospho-, silico-, and borotungstic acids are 3-, 4-, and 5-basic, respectively, as it it shown by 1H-NMR high-resolution spectra in water solution. Results obtained on the basis of 1H-NMR spectra are confirmed by KARL FISCHER water titration.
Notes:
