Description: The scale of the electric cyber physical system (ECPS) is continuously extending, and the existing cascade failure models ignore both the information flow and power flow transferring characteristics and also lack effective survivability analysis. In this paper, the quantitative evaluation method for cascading failure of ECPS survivability considering optimal load allocation is proposed. Firstly, according to the system topological structure and correlation, the degree-betweenness weighted correlation matrix of ECPS is established by defining the degree function as well as the electric betweenness, and the formal representation of coupled ECPS network model is realized. Secondly, based on the structural connectivity change and risk propagation range of ECPS cascade failure, the survivability evaluation model is designed by taking into account the constraints such as node load capacity limitation, information flow optimal allocation strategy, power flow optimization equation, and system safety operation. Finally, the firefly algorithm with chaotic Lévy flight is proposed to solve the evaluation model efficiently. The case study vividly shows that the evaluation method can effectively quantify the survivability of ECPS and thus enhance the evaluation efficiency of large-scale coupled systems.

Description: This paper proposes effective evidence on the correlation between trend and self-organized criticality (SOC) of the power outage sequence in China. Taking the data series of blackouts from 1981 to 2014 in the China power grid as the research object, the method of V/S is introduced into the analysis of the power system blackout sequence to demonstrate their prominent long-time correlations. It also verifies the probability distribution of load loss about blackout size in the China power grid has a tail feature, which shows that the time series of blackouts in the China power grid is consistent with SOC. Meanwhile, a kind of mathematical statistics analysis is presented to prove that there is a seasonal trend of blackouts, and the blackout frequency and blackout size have not decreased over time but have an upward trend in the China power grid, thereby indicating that blackout risk may be increasing with time. The last 34 years’ data samples of power failure accidents in the China power grid are used to test the proposed method, and the numerical results show that the proposed self-organized criticality and trend analysis method can pave the way for further exploration of the mechanism of power failure in the China power grid.

Description: We study how to utilize network coding to improve the throughput of secondary users (SUs) in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) when the channel quality is unavailable at SUs. We use a two-dimensional multiarmed bandit (MAB) approach to solve the problem of SUs with network coding under unknown channel quality in CRNs. We analytically prove the asymptotical-throughput optimality of the proposed two-dimensional MAB algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves comparable throughput performance, compared to both the theoretical upper bound and the scheme assuming known channel quality information.

Description: Many strategies have been exploited for the task of reinforcing the effectiveness and efficiency of extreme learning machine (ELM), from both methodology and structure perspectives. By activating all the hidden nodes with different degrees, local coupled extreme learning machine (LC-ELM) is capable of decoupling the link architecture between the input layer and the hidden layer in ELM. Such activated degrees are jointly determined by the associated addresses and fuzzy membership functions assigned to the hidden nodes. In order to further refine the weight searching space of LC-ELM, this paper implements an optimisation, entitled evolutionary local coupled extreme learning machine (ELC-ELM). This method makes use of the differential evolutionary (DE) algorithm to optimise the hidden node addresses and the radiuses of the fuzzy membership functions, until the qualified fitness or the maximum iteration step is reached. The efficacy of the presented work is verified through systematic simulated experimentations in both regression and classification applications. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique outperforms three ELM alternatives, namely, the classical ELM, LC-ELM, and OSFuzzyELM, according to a series of reliable performances.

Description: We analyzed the variation trends in precipitation according to the observed data in the Shaying River catchment, upstream of the Huai River from 1951 to 2010, using the linear regression method and Mann-Kendall test. Further study was made by introducing R/S analysis, and the corresponding Hurst Exponent was estimated to predict the future trends of rainfall. The results suggested that the changing trends in precipitation for different time series in the whole catchment were relatively complex and not obvious. The annual precipitation showed a slightly increasing trend over the past 60 years, and in the future it would be antipersistent. For the 38 rainfall stations, the trends in spring and autumn precipitation time series were mostly negative; on the contrary, the trends in summer and winter were mostly positive. The results also indicated that the annual precipitation series showed positive trends in the northern region and negative trends in the southern region. Moreover, the relationships of H-Z and H-β of the 38 stations were analyzed. The results indicated that the greater the absolute values of Z the stronger the persistent nature. Meanwhile, for most of the H values were close to 0.5, the randomness of the future trends could not be ignored.

Description: Because of the differences of imaging time, position between sensor and target position, scaling, rotation, translation, and other transformations between the series of images will be generated by the imaging system. The conventional phase correlation algorithm has been widely applied because of its advantages of high speed, precision, and weak influence of the geometric distortion when computing these changing parameters. However, when the scaling factor and the rotation angle are too large, it is difficult to use the conventional phase correlation method for high precision registration. To solve this problem, this paper presents a novel method, which combines the speeded up robust features algorithm and the phase correlation method under the log polar. Through local region extraction and reusing a two-step iterative phase correlation algorithm, this method avoids excessive computation and the demand of characteristics of the image and effectively improves the accuracy of registration. A plurality of visible light image simulation verifies that this is a fast, accurate, and robust algorithm, even when the image has large angle rotation and large multiple scaling.

Description: This paper aims at the traffic flow agglomeration effect characteristics and rapid evacuation requirement in sudden disaster; operation time of intraregional boundaries traffic signal coordination was presented firstly. Then intraregional boundaries intersection group dynamic subdivision and consolidation method based on relative similarity degree and similarity coefficient of adjacent intersections was put forward. As to make the traffic control strategy adapt to traffic condition of different intraregional boundaries intersection groups, this paper proposes an intraregional boundaries traffic signal coordination and optimization technology based on organic computing theory. Finally, this paper uses Delphi 7.0, MapX, and Oracle developing a software package, combined with Paramics V6 Simulator to validate the methods of this paper. The result shows that it can obviously improve disaster affected regional traffic signal control efficiency which reduces average traffic delay by 30–35%, decreases vehicle queue by more than 20% and reduces evacuation time more than 13.06%.

Description: A semantic overlay network (SON) is a visual framework clustered under similar metaknowledge units such as ontologies, algorithms, and rule engines. Knowledge-based service composition (KC) has become a prominent aspect of building new and creative composed service through a combination of semantically similar information at the knowledge level. In this study, a promising approach to construct a standard knowledge model is developed to utilize the progress of KC. To evaluate and optimize the composition, we define the quantity of service (QoS) regarding user requirements in the KC instance, and a KC instance path with better QoS is found in the model using the KC algorithm. Simulation results prove that our approach has a tradeoff between efficiency and equality.
