Description: Field experiment and numerical simulation are performed on a 33 kW horizontal axis wind turbine. The distribution of pressure is gathered by disposed 191 taped pressure sensors span-ward on seven particular sections of a blade. And the parameters of experimental condition of inflow and operation condition of the wind turbine are obtained at the same time. And then, the three-dimensional Reynolds averaged incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the RNG κ-ε turbulence model are used to study the aerodynamic characteristics of the wind turbine. The numerical method is proved to be more effective by contrasting the numerical results to the field experimental data. For the calculation results of the blade pressure, the closer to the root of the blade the more consistent to the values of the experiment. A greater differential is shown at the leading edge than the trailing edge. The pressure distribution contours of the blade surface are obtained too.

Description: An Al-0.3%Cu alloy was deformed to high strains by cold rolling. The as-deformed samples were annealed at different temperatures until complete recrystallization. The cold rolling textures were determined by X-ray diffraction while the recrystallization textures and microstructures were characterized by electron backscatter diffraction. It was found that the rolling texture was characterized by a strong Brass component. After complete recrystallization Goss and Cube textures were developed. The effects of deformation strain and annealing temperature on the recrystallization textures are discussed.

Description: In this study, the chitosan (deacetylation degree 〉95%) was modified with vinyltriethoxysilane (A151) and became hydrophobic. The modified chitosan and acrylate resin composite can be synthesized by butyl methacrylate (BMA), butyl acrylate (BA), poly vinyl alcoho(PVA), N,N’-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA), benzoyl peroxide (BPO), and ethyl acetate under microwave irradiation. The optimal synthetic condition was as follows: the molar ratio of BA and BMA was 1.5:1, the dosage of ethyl acetate, PVA, MBA, BPO and modified chitosan were 50 wt.%, 10 wt.%, 1.5 wt.%, 2.0 wt.% and 1.0 wt.% of monomers, respectively. The adsorption capacity of the composite for CHCl 3 and CCl 4 were approximate to 53 g/g and 44 g/g, respectively. The organics absorbency and regeneration of the samples were also tested, and the samples were characterized by analysis of the scanning electron microscope and simultaneous thermo gravimetric/differential thermal.

Description: This paper investigates the equivalent elastic modulus of structured magneto-rheological elastomer (MRE) in the absence of magnetic field. We assume that both matrix and ferromagnetic particles are linear elastic materials, and ferromagnetic particles are embedded in matrix with layer-like structure. The structured composite could be divided into matrix layer and reinforced layer, in which the reinforced layer is composed of matrix and the homogenously distributed ferromagnetic particles in matrix. The equivalent elastic modulus of reinforced layer is analysed by the Mori-Tanaka method. Finite Element Method (FEM) is also carried out to illustrate the relationship between the elastic modulus and the volume fraction of ferromagnetic particles. The results show that the anisotropy of elastic modulus becomes noticeable, as the volume fraction of particles increases.

Description: An Al-1%Si alloy was solution treated and deformed by conventional cold rolling to different strains, followed by annealing at various temperatures until complete recrystallization. The microstructures of annealed samples were characterized by electron backscatter diffraction. It is found that under optimal conditions of cold rolling and annealing, the microstructure desired for sputtering target materials with fine, uniformly sized and randomly textured grains can be obtained for the Al-1%Si alloy.

Description: To meet the growing demand for a compact cooling solution for superconducting electronic devices, we developed a two-stage 2 K GM cryocooler and a cryostat system, which can reach 46.3 K / 2.2 K on the first and second stages under no-load conditions. Nevertheless, with several innovative technologies applied, the total length of the expander cylinder is reduced to under 70% of the smallest conventional 4 K GM cryocooler. In this paper we will present the design method, including material selection and structure design with detailed explanation, which has been confirmed by both simulation and experiment.

Description: In this paper, the curing kinetics of 4,4′-Methylenebis epoxy resin(TGDDM) and m-Xylylenediamine(m-XDA) was investigated by non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) at various heating rates. Selected non-isothermal methods for analyzing curing kinetics were compared. The activation energy(E) and the correlation coefficient(R) were obtained by different isoconversional methods. The reaction order(n) was obtained by the activation energy in different isoconversional methods for the by Crane equation. The results show that the apparent activation energy are 65.23kJ/mol, 52.20 kJ/mol and 66.10 kJ/mol by using the method of Kissinger, Friedman and F-W-O, the reaction order are 0.911, 0.729 and 0.923 by using the method of Kissinger, Friedman and F-W-O.

Description: High temperature superconducting (HTS) applications require high-capacity and high-reliability cooling solutions to keep HTS materials at temperatures of approximately 80 K. In order to meet such requirements, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.(SHI) has been developing high cooling capacity GM-type active-buffer pulse tube cryocooler. An experimental unit was designed, built and tested. A cooling capacity of 390.5 W at 80 K, COP 0.042 was achieved with an input power of approximately 9 kW. The cold stage usually reaches a stable temperature of about 25 K within one hour starting at room temperature. Also, a simplified analysis was carried out to better understand the experimental unit. In the analysis, the regenerator, thermal conduction, heat exchanger and radiation losses were calculated. The net cooling capacity was about 80% of the PV work. The experimental results, the analysis method and results are reported in this paper.

Description: With high specific heat and density, supercritical helium can be used to reduce the temperature oscillationand improve temperature stabilityin the low temperature conditions. However, the natural convection ofthe supercritical helium has a complex influence on the suppression of the temperature oscillation. In this paper,a transient three-dimensional numerical simulation is carried out for the natural convection in the cylinder to analyze the effect of natural convection on transferring of temperature oscillation.According to the results of numerical calculation, a cryogenic system cooled by GM cryocooler is designed tostudy the influence of natural convection of supercritical helium on temperature oscillation suppression.

Description: Surface treatment is one of the most effective ways to elongate the service life of concrete. The surface treatment agents, including organic and inorganic types, have been intensively studied. In this paper, the silica-based hybrid nanocomposite, which take advantages of both organic and inorganic treatment agents, was synthesized and used for surface treatment of hardened cement-based material. The effectiveness of organic and inorganic hybrid nanocomposite was evaluated through investigations on the gas permeability of cement-based materials. The results showed that SiO 2 /PMHS hybrid nanocomposite can greatly decrease the gas transport properties of hardened cement-based materials and has a great potential for surface treatment of cementitious materials.
