Description: Rice is a major food staple in the world, and provides food for more than one-third of the global population. The monitoring and mapping of paddy rice in a timely and efficient manner is very important for governments and decision makers. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has been proved to be a significant data source in rice monitoring. In this study, RADARSAT-2 polarimetric data were used to simulate compact polarimetry data. The simulated compact data and polarimetric data were then used to evaluate the information content for rice identification. The results indicate that polarimetric SAR can be used for rice identification based on the scattering mechanisms. The compact polarization RH and the RH/RL ratio are very promising for the discrimination of transplanted rice and direct-sown rice. These results require verification in further research.

Description: Bioretention system can effectively remove polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in urban surface runoff through adsorption. However, the accumulation of PAHs may have potential inhibitory effect on microbial growth and activity in the system, and thus influence the overall performance. In this study, laboratory-scale bioretention cells with three different filter media were constructed. Pyrene, a high-molecular-weight PAH with 4 benzene rings, was periodically introduced into the bioretention cells to evaluate its effect on purification of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus, and related microbial enzyme activities. The results showed that the removal capability of chemical oxygen demand (COD) was significantly influenced by pyrene contamination, which was difficult to recover at high pyrene level of 90 mg/kg. Increased effluent total nitrogen (TN) concentration were observed in the bioretention cells with high pyrene content, while no significant change on effluent total phospho...

Description: Sluice gates are commonly used in canals for control and measurement of the flow. The discharge under sluice gates can be determined through different discharge methods. The present study proposed a new equation to accurately predict the discharge through floating type sluice gate by reading the depth of water at upstream of the gate and it reveals relationship between the gate opening and water depth. It also derived a theoretical equation for variations of sluice gate discharge coefficient under free flow condition. Effects of factors on discharge coefficient were investigated. This new model can be used to predict the performance of sluice gates with different sizes under free-flow situations.

Description: Water resources vulnerability control management is essential because it is related to the benign evolution of socio-economic, environmental and water resources system. Research on water resources system vulnerability is helpful to realization of water resources sustainable utilization. In this study, the DPSIR framework of driving forces-pressure–state–impact-response was adopted to construct the evaluation index system of water resources system vulnerability. Then the co-evolutionary genetic algorithm and projection pursuit were used to establish evaluation model of water resources system vulnerability. Tengzhou City in Shandong Province was selected as a study area. The system vulnerability was analyzed in terms of driving forces, pressure, state, impact and response on the basis of the projection value calculated by the model. The results show that the five components all belong to vulnerability Grade II, the vulnerability degree of impact and state were higher than other co...

Description: Alternately injecting the slug of the gel and polymer/surfactant compound system is a new way to further enhance oil recovery after polymer flooding. The displacement system needs to produce an ultra low interfacial tension to oil and to enlarge swept volume significantly. Based on experimental analysis, the influence factors of Cr 3+ gel system viscosity and the compatibility of gel with two types of surfactant compared with composite ion gel system has been studied. The experimental result shows that it has well stability, and the compatibility of gel with RMA-1 type surfactant is very well. It can produce an ultra low interfacial tension to oil so that enhanced oil recovery has been reached more than 10 percent by using the gel system to displace residual oil after polymer flooding in artificial large flat- panel model.

Description: In the context of frequent high temperature weather in recent years, peoples’ physical health is seriously threatened by the indoor high temperature. The physiological activities of human body show a certain changes of circadian rhythm. In this paper, the circadian rhythms of the physiological indexes in indoor high temperature environment were quantified and compared between the male subjects and female subjects. Ten subjects (five males and five females) were selected. The temperature conditions were set at 28°C, 32°C, 36°C and 38°C, respectively. The blood pressure, heart rate, rectal temperature, eardrum temperature, forehead temperature and mean skin temperature were measured for 24 hours continuously. The medians, amplitudes and acrophases of the circadian rhythms were obtained by the cosinor analysis method. Then the effects of gender on the circadian rhythm of the human body in high temperature environment were analyzed. The results indicate that, compared with the femal...

Description: Certain workers are exposed to high temperatures for a long time. Heat stress will result in a series of physiological responses, and cause adverse effects on the health and safety of workers. This paper summarizes the physiological changes of cardiovascular system, core temperature, skin temperature, water-electrolyte metabolism, alimentary system, neuroendocrine system, reaction time and thermal fatigue in high temperature environments. It can provide a theoretical guidance for labor safety in high temperature environment.

Description: Mining ion-type rare-earth ore made the landscape and ecological environment degraded in mining area, and the tailing produced by rare-earth mining also led large areas land desertification, which resulted in surface temperature variations and significant differences in other types of mining disturbances. In order to analyse surface disturbance of rare-earth mining area, this paper applied the methods based on Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Temperature different Coefficient (TDC) as the ecological disturbance indicator, compared and validated their applicability in Lingbei rare-earth mining area of Southern China. The results illustrated that, compared to NDVI, the TDC which reflected the characteristic of rare-earth mining technology has better discrimination of disturbance, especially for in-situ leach mining area. The places of tailing and the in-situ leach mining plants were the most dramatic mining disturbance. They had the biggest TDC value, followed by ...

Description: When single-phase to ground fault occurs in small current grounding system, the zero-sequence transient current contains a lot of complex fault information. In order to extract characteristic from the zero-sequence current accurately as the criterion of fault line selection, this paper puts forward a method of fault line selection based on VMD energy entropy and optimized K-means clustering. Firstly, the zero-sequence current of each line is decomposed by VMD (variational mode decomposition, VMD), and each sub mode of the original current is obtained. Secondly, the energy entropy of each sub mode is calculated as the characteristic quantity of each line state. Finally, the optimized K-means clustering algorithm is used to cluster the fault feature to realize fault line selection. In this paper, Simulink is used to simulate the single-phase to ground fault in resonant grounded system and the results show that the method that has high accuracy can provide reference for practical e...

Description: The reconfiguration on underground geology system is one of the key techniques for secondary development in Daqing oil field. The geological modeling is the unique method to characterize new knowledge system of reservoir. The development history of maturing field is long. The structure of maturing field is complex and the distribution of oil remaining is highly scattered. The difficulty of adjustment and potential tapping is great. In viewing of demand for secondary development, the strategies and methods of geological modeling are proposed. According to the characteristics that many faults crosscut each other, the clue of fractional simulation—key horizon controlling—overall structural modeling is carried out to accurately and effectively build fine structural models. In order to approximate the real microfacies simulation effect, microfacies modeling technology of multiple iterations and geology tendency under vertical and lateral geology tendency constraint is used. And the a...
