Description: As the Francis turbine operated at the off-design conditions, the hydraulic instability may occurs due to the vortex rope developed in the draft tube. The swirling flow produced at the blade trailing edge has been proved to have a direct effect on the vortex rope characteristics. Research on the swirling flow is meaningful for understanding the hydraulic instability mechanisms. In this paper, the different swirling flow characteristics at part load and overload conditions were studied by numerical method. The relations between the vortex rope dynamic characteristics and the swirling flows were deeply investigated. The results showed the swirl number, which was chosen to stand for the strength of the swirling flow, changed with the vortex rope evolution. The swirl number fluctuations and its frequency were closely related to the vortex rope precession and its diameter and length. The dominant frequencies of the swirling flow in spiral vortex rope flow field were consistent with t...

Description: This paper presents a method to estimate the state-of-charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries based on long-short term memory network (LSTM). The method is mainly composed of two parts: (1) A linear neural network is used to identify the parameters of second-order equivalent circuit model. (2) A LSTM network is built to estimate the SOC of lithium-ion battery. The linear neural network is trained using the American Dynamic Stress Test Condition (DST) dataset of battery (1st cycle), while the LSTM network is trained using the Chinese Standard Operating Condition (QCT) datasets of battery (1st, 10th and 20th cycle). After that, the trained LSTM network is tested using DST datasets of the batteries and QCT datasets under different temperatures. The results show that the LSTM network can accurately estimate the SOC of lithium battery under different temperatures, different working conditions and lifespan.

Description: The recharge source of groundwater is an important part of groundwater circulation. Controlled by geological structures, the distribution of groundwater in bedrock area is complicated. The study on the source of groundwater in bedrock has guiding significance for the evaluation of water source site and groundwater exploitation. By analyzing the model of water-rich zone based on remote sensing information, and according to the groundwater dynamics, major ion concentration, velocity and direction of groundwater flow, pumping and water level data of water source site, this article studies the source of groundwater recharge of Barakan Water Source Site(BWSS) in front of Kuruktag, northwest of China, and analyses the reasons for the abnormal change of the total water yield and the drawdown of the well. The results show that the groundwater of the water source site comes from the Aggregate Reclaiming Plant(ARP) about 6.5 kilometers northwest of BWSS. The ARP water pumping is the main ...

Description: Low-cost airlines with emerging business and network operating model, have undergone decades of development, and become an integral part of the global aviation market, the network construction process and evolution mechanism present a particularity, so researching the model of route entry has a certain theoretical value and practical significance. The paper chooses Spring Airlines to carry out case analysis. Although China lags behind other liberalized aviation markets in low cost carrier development, its largest low-cost carriers, Spring Airlines, has achieved rapid growth in traffic volume and revenue, as well as consistent profitability, since its inauguration in 2005. This paper establishes the probit model of airline route entry mode, and uses the airport passenger throughput, population, GDP, HHI index and other indicators to describe the considerations of selecting routes. Using the actual operating data of Spring Airlines obtain the factors of the Spring Airlines selecte...

Description: During Jan 11-Feb 2, 2008, affected by cold air, a rare cryogenic sleet and snow weather process occurred in the southern China. To cope with this extreme weather condition, and to secure the expressway safety, for the first time some expressways used snowmelt agent in large areas. In order to make quantitative impact assessment for the snowmelt agent usage on roadside ecological environment under these extreme sleet and snow condition, field sampling surveys were conducted on the North Guangdong section and the Hunan Leiyi section of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, where the most snowmelt agent used on, in March 2008. The results showed that the snowmelt agents were dominated by salts, of which the main components are sodium chloride (NaCl) and sodium sulfate (NaSO 4 ). After deicing, the concentrations of chloride, sulfate and sodium ions in water sampling from drainage edge ditches were (19.89±19.11) mgL −1 , (45.73±29.67) mgL −1 and (14.41±16....

Description: As one of the core components of supercritical power station, boiler water circulating pump is a kind of glandless pump in which motor and pump are integrated. The circulating medium in the pump is high temperature and high pressure water. Understanding the internal flow characteristics is helpful to improve the hydraulic design of the pump. The numerical simulation of pressure distribution and streamline in the pump body of boiler water circulating pump were carried out with software ANSYS-CFX under three working conditions (0.6 Q, 1.0 Q and 1.4 Q). The results show that: The pressure near the outer wall of pump body is larger, and gradually decreases to the interior. With the decreases of cross section radius, the number of vortices increases. The vortices gradually decrease with the increase of flow rate, and the flow becomes more and more uniform. The pressure increases from the inlet pipe to the outlet pipe under different flow rates. The inlet and outlet pressure differenc...

Description: Ultra-short radius radial jet drilling (USRRJD) is a beneficial method to develop the coal bed methane and conventional oil and gas resources. Jetting bit is a self-propelled nozzle and key tool for USRJD, which could rapidly jet and erode the formation, and then form to regular hole to evaluate oil and gas. Multi-orifice nozzle jetting bit is a special self-propelled bit. This paper introduced flow field characteristics studied by numerical method for multi-orifice nozzle jetting. Combined with the mathematical and RNG k-εturbulent model, physical model is established according the bit shapes and working condition. The simulated self-propelled force coincides well with the reported experimental data. The simulated results show that the flow field includes four regions, such as forward flow, cross flow, backward flow and low velocity. Forward orificesenlarges bottom hole impact zone which is beneficial to enlarge hole diameter, the maximum axial velocity of forward orifices is d...

Description: Extreme urban flood events occur frequently in China, often leading to heavy casualties. Thus, it is of great importance to study the mechanism of the instability of the human body in floodwaters. The results of such research can provide scientific reference for city flood control standards. In this paper, a formula for the incipient velocity of the human body, during toppling instability in floodwaters, was derived based on mechanical characteristics, instability mechanism, and critical conditions during instability. A series of flume experiments were conducted to investigate the incipient velocity of two 3D printed human body models of different sizes; the resultant experimental data was used to determine parameters in the derived formula. Additionally, grip strength was taken as a standard of a person's ability to withstand floodwaters. Finally, crowd factors were introduced, and based on this study, a criterion for the toppling instability of different subjects in floodwater...

Description: Storage battery plays an important role in the submarine. However, mechanism of its performance deterioration is so complex for the crew to master. A health management system for marine storage batteries is presented in the paper, so that scientific maintenance can be adopted to assure the working reliability of the battery. The system consists of an on-line monitoring subsystem and a performance prediction subsystem. In order to complete the key task of performance prediction, an intelligent forecasting model based on support vector machine is built, which can automatically find out the rule of performance deterioration from historical monitoring data. Validity of the performance prediction has been proved by testing results.

Description: A small unipolar aerosols charger system is designed by using corona discharge technology. The performance is evaluated and calibrated in this paper. This system has two main components, one is the corona discharge which adopt tip - arc structure, and the another is high voltage constant current control circuit based on the weak current feedback adjustable as the corona current control part, which ensure that ion concentration remain stable in the process of discharge. The experimental results show that negative corona discharge is better than the positive corona discharge in the same discharge corona current. The intrinsic charging efficiency get better with corona current increases, which can as high as 99% when the negative discharge corona current is 3 µA. However the extrinsic charging efficiency change with corona current change, it got the best performance in the corona current 1.5µA at different particle size in this paper. This small and simple design of the unipolar ch...
