Description:
The increasing descriptive knowledge of the atmosphere's behavior plus the increased physical understanding of meteorological events necessitates basic training in meteorology and oceanography if one is to continue to comment meaningfully upon the weather scene. This training should enable the broadcast meteorologist to get the maximum utility and interesting commentary out of information supplied to him from public sources. It also should prepare him to operate his own meteorological set-up including the use of data from sophisticated tools such as radar and weather satellites. These objectives can be attained through the curriculum for the B.S. degree in Meteorology which is supplemented by special elective courses.
