Description:
Article The evolution of non-recombining chromosomes is poorly understood. Here, the authors sequence the collared flycatcher female-specific W chromosome and show nonrandom survival of genes during W chromosome degeneration which is due to selection for maintaining gene dose and expression levels of essential genes.
