Description:
On 2009 January17, a bright fireball occurred above the Baltic Sea. Some weeks later, a chondritic meteorite was found near the Danish town Maribo. A 32.5-MHz all-sky meteor radar recorded the fall of the meteoroid, providing a unique data set for the reconstruction of the meteor trajectory and the mass ablation of the meteoroid. We present a new detailed analysis of the data from a 32.5-MHz radar. From our orbital analysis, we determine that the entry velocity was v = 28.54 ± 0.46 km s –1 , which is slightly faster than in previous calculations. Furthermore, the use of an extended single-body ablation model of the atmospheric flight leads to the estimation of an entry mass of about 250 kg.
