    Notes: Abstract Nine hundred and eighty three specimens of pigeon droppings, collected in different regions of northern Iran, were examind. Of these samples, 175 (17.8%) were positive for Cryptococcus neoformans. All isolates obtained were C. neoformans var. neoformans. Most of these isolates of C. neoformans were from pigeon shelters. There were significant differences in isolation frequency between pigeon shelters and the other collection sites.

    Description: Acipenser stellatus is one of the most invaluable species of Sturgeon fishes in the world. The purpose of this study was to identify the resident microbial community from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of Acipenser stellatus. One hundred and twenty three fungi were isolated from the GIT of 7 Acipenser stellatus samples including Aspergillus spp (45.5%), Trichoderma spp (8.9%) and Cladophialophora spp (8.1%). Among different Aspergillus isolates, A.niger was the predominant species. Although, fungi were predominantly isolated from stomach (36.6%), but with respect to frequency of fungal isolates there were no significant differences between stomach and other parts of GI. In general, the bacterial isolates recovered were mostly gram negative and related to Enterobacteriaceae family such as Aeromonas, Pseudomonas and Salmonella species. The most bacterial species were isolated from intestine and pre stomach region (88.2%). It is concluded that A. niger and Aeromonas species were predominant fugal and bacterial microbes isolated from understudy fish GIT, respectively.

    Description: In this study, 180 Beluga (Huso huso) weighing 120110g each with a stocking density of 12 fish per tank were adapted with synthetic diet and then fed with different levels of AFBI (0, 25, 50,75 & 100pplpikg of diets) under controlled conditions (T=1 8±2°C, DO=7.3ppm). The fish were fed 3% of their body weight four times a day for three months. Prevalence of skin lesions evaluated through clinical observations monthly. With regard to toxin concentration and time of exposure to AFBi in experimental fish, different degree of skin lesions (simple hemorrhage to progressive wounds) were observed in different parts of body especially in vent, caudal peduncle, fins, and head. "Yellow sores" on head and trunk regions were considerable and led to deterioration of appearance. Prevalence of skin lesion in different treatments was 8•m53.3%. After feeding with toxic diets was stopped, 16.w24% healing was obsenTed in the fish.

    Description: Fungal infection in the eggs of freshwater fish is well known as a problematic disease. The aim of the present study was to isolate and identify parasitic and saprophytic fungi from affected eggs of rainbow trout at two fish hatchery in Kermanshah province. The sample were inoculated in culture media (SDA, CMA, GPA and stilled water with cotton seed culture) at room temperature (18-24 ° C). 17 species of fungi isolated from the fungal eggs. Five fungi species that isolated in this study were belonged to the saprolegniaceae family including Saprolegnia paraitica, Saprolegnia lapponica, Saprolegnia ferax, Saprolegnia hypogyna and Saprolegnia diclina. Another fungi that isolated in this study were, Fusarium oxyparum, Fusarium npoa, Fusarium sp., Penicilium citrinium, Penicillium expansum, Aspergillus treuse, Aspergillus clavatus, Cladosporium sp., Alternaria sp., Helmintosporium sp., Pscilomyces sp., Mocur. It seems that Saprolegnia parasitica with 26.8 percent of isolation was the most important fungal infestation of egg in Kermanshah trout hatcheries. Mocur with 19.6% had the most frequency after S. parasitica and Fusarium, Aspergillus and Pescillomyces with 2.45% had the lowest frequency. In this study S. ferax, S. hypogyna and S. diclina are reported from Iran for the first time.

    Description: This study was carried out during summer 2002, to isolate the Branchionzyces spp., and to show the histopathologicat changes of gill lesions of Cyprinids fish from Iran. Branchiomyces spp. from lesions of common carp was isolated. The histopathological findings include congestion, hyperplasia, fusion, and telangiectasis of secondary lamella and also hemorrhage in primary lamella were seen. Infiltration of inflammatory cells around the blood vessels. ‘vere also observed. -I his is the first report of isolation of Branchiomyces spp. from common carp in Iran.
