Abstract:
Notes:
Summary A generally applicable method for the determination of traces of germanium is presented, which involves extraction of germanium tetrachloride from 9-M hydrochloric acid solution, transfer of germanium to aqueous solution by shaking the carbon tetrachloride with water, and final photometric determination with phenylfluorone. This method provides a simple way of determining germanium in silicate rocks; the lower limit is 0.1 or 0.2 p. p. m. with a 0.5-g sample.
