Notes:
Contrary to recent predictions, it has been observed that the addition of small quantities of hydrogen, ethanol, and benzene to nitrogen reduce the output power of a nitrogen laser. N,N-dimethylaniline enhances the output power of the laser by 25%. A Penning ionization process is proposed as a mechanism for quenching the B 3Πg state of nitrogen.
