Description / Table of Contents: Summary The total fatty acid composition of two tachinid flies is studied, one of which is reared on two different hosts and one on an artificial medium. The fatty acid profile of the hosts greatly influences that of the parasites, but the fatty acid concentration of the hosts has no influence on that of the parasites. However, the fatty acid patterns of the parasites is not a true duplication of the hosts': the tachinids seem to be able to modify the pattern more or less towards their own characteristic one which cannot always be attained.
