Abstract Electromagnetic transitions in isomeric nuclei are investigated. Radiative transition probabilities for isomeric nuclei are compared with theoretical estimates. The comparison is made for allowed and j- andl -forbidden transitions in spherical nuclei (and also for transitions between levels of a single rotational band), and for single-particle and K-forbidden transitions in deformed nuclei. Experimental data for electromagnetic radiation and quantum characteristics of isomeric nuclei agree with contemporary pictures of the atomic nucleus.
