Description / Table of Contents:
Chelate compounds of N,N′-bis-(benzal)ethylenediimine and N,N′-bis-(thiophene-2-al)-ethylenediimine with the B metal ions CuI, CuII, AgI, ZnII, HgII and FeII have been prepared from methanolic solution as perchlorates or nitrates. They are of the 1:2 type. Systems containing chloride ions yield 1:1 chelates. The yellow coloured CuI compounds are sparingly soluble in methanol and water, resp., and comparatively stable against hydrolytic oxidation. Rate constants for the pseudo first-order overall hydrolytic cleavage of the free and co-ordinated ligands have been determined by a pH-stat titrimetric prodedure at 20° and 8 weight-% methanol. The influence caused by varying the metal ion is discussed.
Notes:
