Reactivity of 3-Hydroxy-1,2-diphenylcyclobut-2-ene-4-onesHydroxydiphenylcyclobutenones 1 can be methylated by diazomethane to give methoxydiphenylcyclobutenones 2. On addition of diluted sodium hydroxide solution sodium salts 3 are received which react with benzoyl chloride, acetyl chloride and bromophenylcyclobutenedione to form the esters 4 and 6.2 and 4 can be oxidized to diphenylcyclobutenedione 5. 0-Phenylenediamine or N-methyl-0-phenylenediamine react with 1 to form trans,-stilbenes 7 and dihydro-quinoxalino-quinoxaline 8 or dimethyl-dihydro-quinoxalino-quinoxaline 10, respectively.
    Notes: Hydroxydiphenylcyclobutenone 1 werden mit Diazomethan zu Methoxydiphenylcyclobutenonen 2 methyliert. Mit verdünnter Natronlauge erhält man aus 1 die entsprechenden Natriumsalze 3, die mit Benzoylchlorid, Acetylchlorid und Brom-phenylcyclobutendion zu den Estern 4 und 6 reagieren. 2 und 4 werden zu Diphenylcyclobutendion 5 oxydiert. O-Phenylendiamin bzw. N-Methyl-o-phenylendiamin bilden mit 1 trans-Stilbene 7 und Fluoflavin 8 bzw. Dimethyl-flouoflavin 10.
