Notes: Bei der Oxydation von 3-Hydroxy-anthranilsäure mit Luft in schwach alkalischer Lösung oder mit Dichromat in saurer Lösung bildet sich das 3-Hydroxy-5-carboxy-benzochinon-(2-hydroxy-6-carboxy-anil)-(1)imid-(4) (IIIb), bei Oxydation mit Quecksilberoxyd in ammoniakalischer Lösung das 3-Amino-(4.5)-dicarboxy-phenoxazon-(2) (IVa). _ Aus beiden Oxydationsprodukten (IIIb und IVa) entsteht unter Alkalieinwirkung 2.5-Dihydroxy-benzochinon-(1.4)-(2-hydroxy-6-carboxy-anil) (VIII), das mit Säure reversibel in das 3-Hydroxy-5-carboxy-phenoxazon-(2) (V) übergeht. Die hydrolytische Aufspaltung des Phenoxazonringes bedingt die Alkalilabilität der Ommatinfarbstoffe.
