Somente nos anos 1970 desvendou-se o ciclo de vida desse protozoário, do qual o gato é hospedeiro definitivo. Outros animais de sangue quente, entre eles o ser humano, são hospedeiros intermediários. Muitos indivíduos infectados pelo T. gondii não apresentam sintomas, mas, quando a doença se manifesta, pode ter diferentes configurações, afetando gânglios, olhos, coração, pulmões, fígado, cérebro e meninges, ou articulações. Além de uma completa revisão, a obra também traz para o leitor o que há de mais atual no conhecimento científico acerca da toxoplasmose e do T. gondii. O livro cobre praticamente todos os campos do conhecimento sobre o agente etiológico e a doença, apresentando novos aspectos, particularmente em relação à bioquímica, à interação entre o parasita e a célula hospedeira e à resposta imunológica à infecção.

    Description: Compreender o processo de emergência das medicinas tradicionais indígenas no campo das políticas públicas de saúde indígena é o objetivo deste livro, que analisa os discursos proferidos por uma diversidade de atores – indígenas e não indígenas, governamentais e não governamentais, nacionais e internacionais. Dessa forma, a obra revela uma dinâmica que vai do global e ao local, e transforma os contextos envolvidos, originando novas formações culturais. As políticas públicas que qualificam os seus objetos e público-alvo com a categoria ‘tradição’ conformam uma formação discursiva, definida pela autora como ‘políticas da tradição’. Um exemplo são as políticas voltadas à saúde indígena, que têm buscado reconhecer a eficácia das medicinas tradicionais indígenas e articulá-las com o sistema oficial de saúde. No entanto, “ao serem apropriados pelos povos indígenas, os discursos oficiais são postos a serviço dos seus interesses culturalmente situados – assim, estamos diante do fenômeno da indigenização”, diz a pesquisadora. E essa ‘indigenização’ se refere aos processos “levados a efeito pelos povos indígenas ao se apropriarem das políticas públicas a fim de manter a sua autonomia e reverter a seu favor o controle que o Estado passa a exercer sobre o mundo da vida de suas comunidades”. O livro busca contribuir para a consolidação do direito indígena à atenção diferenciada à sua saúde, considerando as relações historicamente construídas entre povos indígenas e Estado.

Essa ha preso avvio con diversi forum in Francia, poi con la conferenza di Madrid del 13 maggio 2017 e il 27 maggio 2017, con la conferenza tenuta a Torino nell’ambito del convegno nazionale della Scuola Lacaniana di Psicoanalisi, è stata coinvolta nel vortice anche l’Italia. Dopo la conferenza di maggio, è seguito a luglio, sempre a Torino, un seminario di politica lacaniana, iniziato con una conferenza di Jacques-Alain Miller sul tema “Eresia e ortodossia”, che insieme a tutti gli altri interventi di quella giornata di seminario, è raccolta in questo volume. La scommessa che ha dato il via a una nuova dimensione del Campo freudiano, è stata enunciata da Jacques-Alain Miller con le seguenti parole: “Ho un progetto: farci presenti, non soltanto nella clinica, nella psicologia individuale, come dice Freud, ma anche nella psicologia individuale in quanto collettiva, cioè nel campo politico. Non come un partito politico, ma in quanto psicoanalisti che possono portare qualcosa all’umanità in questo momento della o delle civiltà. Questo apporto, Lacan l’ha detto e ridetto, lo sperava, ma non è giunto a renderlo concreto. Non ha raggiunto l’apertura che è la nostra oggi. Non ha fatto questo passo, nonostante tutto il suo discorso converga su questo punto”.

    Description: Um dos grandes desafios para a consolidação do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) é a distribuição geográfica dos profissionais e serviços de saúde. Compreender tal desafio e fornecer subsídios para enfrentá-lo são os objetivos dos autores, nesse estudo. A distribuição desigual reflete outro problema: a concentração dos serviços de saúde e das escolas médicas nas regiões economicamente mais favorecidas, facilitando a permanência dos profissionais, depois de formados, no Sul e Sudeste, apesar da expansão dos postos de trabalho no Norte, Nordeste e Centro-Oeste. Quatro programas de interiorização são analisados: o Projeto Rondon, o Programa de Interiorização das Ações de Saúde e Saneamento (Piass), o Programa de Interiorização do SUS (Pisus) e o Programa de Interiorização do Trabalho em Saúde (Pits). Este último, por ser uma iniciativa inédita do Ministério da Saúde, é avaliado em detalhes em um dos capítulos.

In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

    Description: Fin dai suoi esordi la psicoanalisi si è interessata ai conflitti e la sua storia è legata alle vicissitudini dell’impatto della guerra sui soggetti, nella forma specifica del trauma, nonché alla guerra come modalità del legame sociale. Questo volume raccoglie i contributi di psicoanalisti che si interrogano su quello che la guerra può insegnare alla psicoanalisi e su cosa la psicoanalisi può dire su di essa, provando a decifrarne le coordinate, e sul posto che essa ha nel discorso, cioè nella civiltà. La guerra infatti accompagna, e forse determina, lo sviluppo delle civiltà. Le sue forme si modificano e, oggi, essa appare nella forma del “senza limite”, conformemente alla modalità predominante nei nostri legami, configurando scenari inediti. Gli effetti sui soggetti, oggi come ieri, e il modo con cui questi possono essere trattati, sono ciò di cui si occupano gli analisti, orientati da Freud e da Lacan, considerando il trauma un fatto singolare, che non si presta a soluzioni universali, né tantomeno standardizzabili. Ma è compito degli psicoanalisti anche quello di delineare le coordinate fondamentali del nostro attuale “disagio della civiltà”, per poter contribuire alla lettura del posto che la guerra occupa nel nostro tempo, al di là di qualsiasi “facile ricetta” che si vorrebbe risolutiva.

The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

Para compreender as contradições e os conflitos emergentes nesse contexto, foram utilizadas a abordagem qualitativa e as entrevistas semi-estruturadas. As falas desses sujeitos evidenciam a necessidade de formação e a disposição dos trabalhadores para rever conceitos e experimentar novas tecnologias com vistas à melhoria do atendimento.     Description: A crescente necessidade de mudanças profundas na abordagem da saúde e nas práticas de atenção tem gerado intenso debate internacional, convergindo para a proposição de um novo paradigma. Este é baseado na promoção da saúde, a qual defende uma evolução substantiva no modo como são formuladas e implementadas as políticas públicas, sociais e econômicas que influenciam diretamente as condições de saúde da população. Neste livro, a autora reconstitui com maestria a história social da tessitura do conceito e das práticas de promoção da saúde como crítica ao entendimento prioritariamente biomédico da saúde. Analisa como Brasil e Canadá incorporaram em suas políticas públicas a proposta de promoção da saúde ratificada pela Declaração de Otawa, em 1986, assim como também os componentes conceituais da proposta, teoricamente e em suas apropriações pelos dois países. No caso do Brasil, a análise centrou-se na proposta do SUS, e no do Canadá examinaram-se os diversos documentos originários da proposta e de sua evolução. Disso emergem e são abordadas as discussões sobre a medicina como instituição social, a crise do Estado, o Estado neoliberal e a cooperação técnica internacional em saúde. Obra que, por seu conteúdo, provoca instigantes questões, aqui tratadas primorosamente por Lucíola.

    Description: Erário Mineral, de Luís Gomes Ferreira, foi editado pela primeira vez em Lisboa, em 1735, sendo um dos primeiros tratados de medicina brasileira escrito em língua portuguesa. O livro reúne as experiências de práticas médicas realizadas pelo cirurgião-barbeiro Luís Gomes Ferreira na capitania de Minas Gerais. Além de uma descrição pormenorizada dos principais males ali freqüentes, o autor também descreve os meios mais eficazes de cura que experimentou e faz um importante inventário dos medicamentos utilizados na época com suas respectivas funções. Nessa leitura, descobrimos que entre os remédios empregados encontravam-se vários utilizados pelos índios e incorporados pelos paulistas à medicina colonial. Parte preciosa do relato é constituída pelas minuciosas informações sobre as duras condições de vida e de trabalho a que os escravos estavam submetidos, o que facilitava a propagação das doenças. Dois glossários completam e enriquecem ainda mais esta edição, procedendo a um levantamento dos médicos e cirurgiões citados pelo autor.

    Description: O livro aborda a questão do avanço da alimentação do tipo fast food, lembrando que o Brasil está entre os cinco países que mais cresceram nos últimos anos entre todos os mercados da rede McDonald´s no planeta, e traz algumas das observações do documentário Super Size Me (cujo título no Brasil ganhou um complemento: A dieta do palhaço). Nele, o cineasta Morgan Spurlock se submeteu a uma dieta composta de alimentos da famosa rede americana durante 30 dias seguidos. Balanço da experiência: depois de um mês, Spurlock ganhou 11 quilos, tinha acúmulo de gordura no fígado, sinais de depressão, sentia-se exausto facilmente e havia aumentado o nível de colesterol no sangue. O autor de Obesidade e Saúde Pública relaciona a introdução da modalidade de vale-refeição como uma das causas para o aumento de refeições realizadas em bares, restaurantes e lanchonetes e a conseqüente adoção de hábitos de alimentação não exatamente saudáveis. Entre os males ligados ao sobrepeso e à obesidade, o autor descreve a doença coronariana, o acidente vascular cerebral, a osteoartrite e o câncer do endométrio, da mama, da próstata e do cólon. Na parte final, a publicação enfoca a questão da prevenção e do controle da obesidade e lança luz nos programas e ações que tendem a culpar o indivíduo por se alimentar mal e por não ser ativo na prática de atividades físicas.

The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.
