Description: In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problem based on the arithmetic and geometric aggregation operators with hesitant fuzzy linguistic information. Then, motivated by the ideal of traditional arithmetic and geometric operation, we have developed some aggregation operators for aggregating hesitant fuzzy linguistic information: hesitant fuzzy linguistic arithmetic aggregation operators, hesitant fuzzy linguistic geometric aggregation operators, hesitant fuzzy linguistic correlated aggregation operators, induced hesitant fuzzy linguistic aggregation operators, induced hesitant fuzzy linguistic correlated aggregation operators, hesitant fuzzy linguistic prioritized aggregation operators, hesitant fuzzy linguistic power aggregation operators. Then, we have utilized these operators to develop some approaches to solve the hesitant fuzzy linguistic multiple attribute decision making problems. Finally, a practical example is given to verify the developed approach. Description: In a process using monitoring with p-control charts or np-control charts, due to the uncertainty of the attribute data, traditional control charts may be insufficient. In this case, fuzzy control charts are pertinent control techniques used to capture vagueness. Many studies in the literature are configured with transformation techniques at the decision stage, and in this study, fuzzy control charts are constructed using rules. Therefore, fully fuzzy control charts are first introduced for fuzzy [( p )\tilde]-control charts based on constant sample size and variable sample size, and fuzzy n [( p )\tilde]-control charts are subsequently introduced using decision rules for the process state conditions. Therefore, “rather in control” and “rather out of control” decisions can be considered in monitoring of the process. Description: As generalize of the hesitant fuzzy sets, hesitant interval-valued fuzzy sets (HIVFSs), which permits the memberships of an element to a given set having a few different interval values in [0,1] rather than real numbers, can be considered as a powerful tool to express uncertain information in the human decision making process. Based on the traditional Hamming distance, Euclidean distance, Hausdorff distance, and generalized distance, in this paper, we propose a variety of distance measures for hesitant interval-valued fuzzy sets, based on which the corresponding similarity measures can be obtained. We investigate the connections of the aforementioned distance measures and further develop a number of hesitant interval-valued ordered weighted distance measures and hesitant interval-valued ordered weighted similarity measures. They can alleviate the influence of unduly large (or small) deviations on the aggregation results by assigning them low (or high) weights. Finally, we shall present a numerical example to show potential evaluation of emerging technology commercialization with hesitant interval-valued fuzzy information in order to illustrate the method proposed in this paper. Description: Optimal capacitor placement problem is a significant and precious strategy which can be supposed as an always appropriate solution to reduce the operating costs in the power systems. Nevertheless, as the result of nonlinear and discrete characteristics of this problem, traditional optimization methods can not solve it effectively. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel optimization framework based on shuffled frog leaping algorithm (SFLA) to solve the optimal capacitor placement and sizing problem properly. In this regard, a new modification approach based on the mutation and crossover operators is suggested to improve the local search ability of this algorithm. The effectiveness and satisfying performance of the proposed method is assessed on two IEEE test systems. Comparative results sow the superiority of the proposed optimization method than the other popular methods in the area. Description: This paper considers supply chain models with a manufacturer acting as the leader and two competitive retailers acting as followers under a fuzzy decision environment. The parameters of demand function and manufacturing cost are treated as the triangular fuzzy variables. Two retailers are assumed to pursue two kinds of competitive behavior: Cournot and Stackelberg. For each case, optimum policy of the expected value and two chance-constrained programming models are derived. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the results of proposed models. It is shown that in fuzzy models, the different competitive behaviors of two retailers do not affect the optimal pricing strategies of the manufacturer, and the confidence level of the profits for supply chain members affects the optimal sale price, wholesale price and profits. Description: Today, preference relations are among the most common types of expressing decision maker's preference information found in uncertainty research. Intuitionistic multiplicative preference relation can reflect our intuition more objectively and it was proposed by Xia et al. [20] recently. In this article, we first develop some aggregation operators for intuitionistic multiplicative numbers, such as the intuitionistic multiplicative weighted averaging operator and intuitionistic multiplicative ordered weighted averaging operator. Their desirable properties are also investigated in detail. Furthermore, based on the proposed aggregation operators, we further introduce a group decision making method based on intuitionistic multiplicative preference relations. Finally, a real example about personnel selection is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our method, the numeric comparison between our group decision making method and the ones of Xia et al. [20] are also provided. Description: Artificial life uses biological knowledge and techniques to solve different engineering, management, control and computational problems. Natural systems teach us that very simple individual organisms can form systems capable of performing highly complex tasks by dynamically interacting with each other. In this study, artificial life based approaches are handled and incorporated to enable a real-time water level control. The process was first modelled using NARX type Artificial Neural Network. A fuzzy controller was then attached to the model. For a better performance, fuzzy controller membership function boundary values and action values were optimized simultaneously. The optimization process was performed using genetic algorithm and ant colony optimization algorithm, respectively. Finally, the performance of the controllers was discussed further by considering the system outputs. The developed structure replaces the tedious process of trial-and-error for better combination of fuzzy parameters and can settle the problem of designing fuzzy controller without an expert's experience. Description: In this paper, we first introduce some operations on interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets, such as Einstein sum, Einstein product, Einstein exponentiation, etc., and further develop the induced interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Einstein ordered weighted average (I-IVIFEOWA) operator. We also establish some desirable properties of this operator, such as commutativity, idempotency and monotonicity. Then, we apply the induced interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Einstein ordered weighted average(I-IVIFEOWA) operator based on the data mining to deal with multiple attribute decision making under interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy environments. Finally, an illustrative example about selecting an ERP system is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. Description: Ant colony optimization (ACO) inspires the foraging manner of real ants in digital habitat is a developed meta-heuristic algorithm in medical image processing. Magnetic resonance (MR) images usually contain irregular and complex structures. Applying ACO, the spatial information is exploited in image processing; however, ACO requires a supervisor to define reference food. Fuzzy c-means (FCM) is an unsupervised clustering algorithm used in medical image processing. Standard FCM seldom incorporates spatial information in image segmentation. This paper presents an Unsupervised ACO (UACO) developed by FCM which utilizes the benefits of two algorithms and overlaps their defects. UACO is unsupervised like FCM and incorporates spatial information the same way as ACO. Besides, elapsed time to define food source by FCM in UACO is less than that of an operator in ACO. Adding that, another novelty of the paper is to effectively update pheromone fields. Utilizing a Gaussian spatial function, proposed approach handles noise effects properly, and exploits spatial neighborhood information efficiently in image segmentation. Experimental results show that proposed hybrid UACO by the Gaussian spatial function preserves details of image and is less sensitive to noise. Description: This paper reviews some basic properties of fuzzy, rough and soft sets, and compares soft sets to the related concepts of fuzzy and rough sets. The definitions of soft set intersection and union are revised. The two are based on the Cartesian product of the sets of parameters. It illustrates that one could obtain other specific union and intersection by using some cutting operations to the Cartesian product. The definition of soft set complement is also revised. One is taken by a collection of sets instead of the previous rigid complement. By means of soft mapping proposed by Molodtsov, both fuzzy set and rough set may be considered as a special soft set with specific parameters and set-valued mapping. And then the basic operations of fuzzy and rough sets are reconsidered in the framework of soft sets. With the new insight into soft sets, their connections and differences between soft sets and fuzzy sets, soft sets and rough sets, are discussed. Description: Throughout the paper it is shown that the classical definition of a fuzzy subset carries additional structures. The concept of a fuzzy subset is regarded from an alternative point of view: namely, the characteristic function of a fuzzy subset may be reinterpreted in terms of a Sincov's functional equation in two variables. Since the solutions of a Sincov's functional equation are also closely related to the existence of representable total preorders, an special attention is paid to the relationship between fuzzy subsets and total preorders defined on a universe. Some possible applications of this approach are pointed out in the final section of the manuscript. Description: This paper presents a hierarchical interactive particle swarm optimization (HIPSO) for solving the static multi objective optimal power flow (OPF) considering multi SVC controllers and dynamic economic dispatch (DED). This study introduces a variant of PSO using new mechanism search based dynamic adjustment of PSO parameters coordinated with a hierarchical strategy for reactive power planning stage to improve the performances of the original PSO in terms of solution quality and convergence characteristics. The HIPSO algorithm optimizes a combined control variables such as: active power generations, voltage control of generators, tap transformer and the reactive power of multi SVC Controllers installed at a specified buses to minimize fuel cost, total power loss and voltage deviation while satisfying the generators constraints and power system security. The proposed approach examined and applied to many practical test systems: IEEE 57-Bus, IEEE 118-Bus, 40 generating units and 10 generating units to solving; the static multi objective OPF with quadratic fuel cost function, the economic dispatch considering valve point effects and the dynamic economic dispatch considering both valve point effects and ramp rate limits. Simulation results compared to Matpower, to the standard PSO and others recent metaheuristic methods confirm the effectiveness of the proposed combined approach. Description: We study the asymptotic behavior of the Schrödinger equation in the presence of a nonlinearity of Hartree type in the semi-classical regime. Our scaling corresponds to a weakly nonlinear regime where the nonlinearity affects the leading order amplitude of the solution without altering the rapid oscillations. We show the validity of the WKB-analysis when the potential in the nonlinearity is singular around the origin. No new resonant wave is created in our model, this phenomenon is inhibited due to the nonlinearity. The nonlocal nature of this latter leads us to build our result on a high-frequency averaging effects. In the proof we make use of the Wiener algebra and the space of square-integrable functions. Description: The presence of small inclusions or of a surface defect modifies the solution of the Laplace equation posed in a reference domain Ω 0 . If the characteristic size of the perturbation is small, then one can expect that the solution of the problem posed on the perturbed geometry is close to the solution of the reference shape. Asymptotic expansion with respect to that small parameter – the characteristic size of the perturbation – can then be performed. We consider in the present work the case of two circular defects with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions in a bidimensional domain, we distinguish the cases where the distance between the object is of order 1 and the case where it is larger than the characteristic size of the defects but small with respect to the size of the domain. In both cases, we derive the complete expansion and provide some numerical illustrations. Content Type Journal Article Pages 197-227 DOI 10.3233/ASY-131174 Authors V. Description: In this article, our goal is to prove the existence and uniqueness of solution for 1D and 2D semi-linear hyperbolic equations in a bounded domain with a monotone nonlinear term. We use elliptic regularization and a finite difference scheme in time to build the approximate solutions for the semi-linear hyperbolic equations, and we utilize the regularization method together with the monotonicity and convexity of the nonlinear term to show the existence of the resulting stationary problems. Finally, the existence of the solution for the evolution problem is done by studying the convergence of the approximate solutions and by using the standard Minty method, and the uniqueness is achieved. Description: Interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2 FS) can provide us with more degrees of freedom to represent the uncertainty and the vagueness of the real world. In this paper, we investigate the fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making (FMAGDM) problems in which all the information provided by the decision makers (DMs) is expressed as IT2 FS, and the information about attribute weights is incomplete. We introduce the concepts of crisp possibility mean value and present a new method for calculating the possibility degree of two IT2 FS based on the interval-valued possibility mean values. Then, we propose a new method named maximizing deviations method for determine attribute weights information under interval type-2 fuzzy environment. Furthermore, we utilize the obtained attribute weights and the fuzzy possibility degree to fuse the IT2 fuzzy information in the collective IT2 fuzzy decision matrix to get the ranking values of all alternatives. A numerical example is given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. Description: Estimation of the Lyapunov Exponents of a chaotic dynamical system is highly dependent on the tools one may use. Function approximators such as artificial neural networks and polynomial based systems posses an approximation error which effectively impacts LEs precision. Thus, we look for an efficient tool in the approximation of partial derivatives of a function and the function is to be critical of importance. In this paper, the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and its first order derivative are used to model the nonlinear behavior of the chaotic functions. The structures of the Neuro-Fuzzy system and its first-order derivative are constructed according to the training samples. Premise parameters and consequent parameters which have been initialized during a learning procedure are tuned by a deterministic chaotic-based genetic algorithm based on the Logistic map. Four non-linear chaotic dynamics are modeled with the proposed structure trained by the proposed chaotic genetic algorithm and the approximation capability of the proposed structure is studied. It has been shown that the chaotic behavior of the genetic algorithm enhances its capability in parameter tuning and structure optimization of a nonlinear network. Furthermore, the proposed method comprising the adaptive neuro-fuzzy network with its first order derivative is validated in modeling the chaotic behavior of four chaotic functions. Modeling error, optimization parameters and computation time are analyzed to verify the statements and presentations. Description: In general, weights of experts play a very important role in multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM), how to objectively determine experts' weights is an interesting research topic. Recently, many corresponding methods have been proposed to derive experts' weights, but none of them simultaneously capture the decision information from both the ranking and magnitude two aspects. This paper presents a novel approach for determining weights of experts in intuitionistic fuzzy group decision making based on consistency maximization by simultaneously considering the ranking and magnitude of decision information. The main contributions of this paper are threefold: (1) from the perspective of the ranking of decision information, the group ranking consistency (GRC) index is defined to measure the consistency between each individual decision and the ideal decision of group; (2) from the perspective of the magnitude of decision information, the group assessment consistency (GAC) index is also defined for measuring the consistency between each individual decision and the ideal decision of group; (3) a bi-objective linear programming model to determine the experts' weights is constructed on basis of the idea that the final results of MAGDM problem should be consistent and reflect the common will of the group to the greatest extent, which is solved by transforming into a parametric linear programming model using the weight average approach. Description: Biomass is an important primary source of renewable energy source. Producer gas, a derivative of Biomass, comprises of tar and particulate content which is harmful and critical parameter for IC engine application, which influences the design of filter. Numerous researchers have developed various types of filter for gas cleaning system in order to reduce the tar content and particulate in producer gas. In this work, an experimental investigation has been carried out on the newly developed hybrid compact filter using two different feeds such as rice husk and wood. The experimental results obtained were used to justify the newly developed system with adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS). The data has been collected taken from an experimental database of a 20 kW open core downdraft TNAU(Tamil Nadu Agricultural University)-modified gasifier with compact hybrid filter system. A comparison between the predictions of ANFIS model with other available model in literature is presented. The ANFIS results reveal that the model delivers the tar and particulate content with an accuracy of 99.98%. The test results prove the possibility to develop and evaluate an ANFIS based model to predict tar content and particulate for any filter design under varying input conditions. Description: Since Narasimhan's first application of Fuzzy Set Theory to Goal Programming (GP) in 1980, much research into fuzzy GP has been carried out. In fuzzy GP studies, although several researchers remained loyal to using the traditional GP representation, the majority have followed the fuzzy programming approach. Among fuzzy-programming-based studies, only the studies of Tiwari et al. and Lin seem applicable when the objectives have relative importance. However, both have disadvantages. Because the former model uses the add operator, some of the objectives may not be preferred at the optimal solution even they have heavy weights. The latter model is based on the max-min approach, which does not guarantee a non-dominated solution. In this study, a weighted Fuzzy GP model is presented to overcome these disadvantages, along with the shortcomings of other existing models. The model is modified from Lai and Hwang's augmented max-min model, which is guaranteed to reach a non-dominated solution. The superiority of the model over the existing approaches is demonstrated using numerical examples chosen from the literature. Description: We present an infrastructure for describing and handling uncertainty and vagueness in a combination of Description Logics and rules in the Semantic Web. More concretely, we apply fuzzy set theory to hybrid MKNF knowledge bases, and establish fuzzy hybrid MKNF knowledge bases, which is sound with respect to the classical two-valued semantics. Furthermore, we discuss some fundamental properties of fuzzy semantics, and characterize fuzzy MKNF models of general MKNF knowledge bases. We also provide characterizations of fuzzy MKNF models of positive and stratified MKNF knowledge bases in terms of a fixpoint operator and an iterative fixpoint semantics, respectively. Finally, we describe a special case of fuzzy nondisjunctive positive MKNF knowledge base, in which the truth value of a modal atom can be computed in polynomial time in the data complexity. Description: In this paper, the development of an improved Takagi Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model for identification and chaotic time series prediction of nonlinear dynamical systems is proposed. This model combines the advantages of fuzzy systems and Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filters, which are autoregressive moving average models, to create internal dynamics with just the control input. The structure of Fuzzy Infinite Impulse Response (FIIR) is presented, and its learning algorithm is described. In the proposed model, the Butterworth analogue prototype filters are estimated using the obtained membership functions. Based on the founding orders of the analogue filters, the IIR filters could be constructed. The IIR filters are introduced to each TS fuzzy rule which produces local dynamics. Gustafson–Kessel (GK) clustering algorithm is used to generate the clusters which will be used to find the number of the IIR parameters for each rule. The hybrid genetic algorithm and simplex method are used to identify the consequence parameters. The stability of the obtained model is studied. To demonstrate the performance of this modeling method, three examples have been chosen. Comparative results between the FIIR model on one hand, and the traditional TS fuzzy model, the neural networks and the neuro-fuzzy network on the other hand. The results show that the proposed method provides promising identification results. Description: Interval-valued hesitant fuzzy sets (IVHFSs), as an extension of hesitant fuzzy sets, can account for the membership degrees of an element to a given set having a few different interval values, which provides an intuitionistic description on the differences among decision makers. We derive the properties and relationships of fundamental operations on IVHFSs for Algebraic t-norm and t-conorm. Furthermore, we present the operations based on Archimedean t-norm and t-conorm and investigate their properties. The results obtained using the two types of t-norms and t-conorms could be useful for applications of IVHFSs in information aggregation and decision making. Description: There are several methods in the literature to deal with the sensitivity analysis of fuzzy linear programming (FLP) problems. In this paper, the shortcomings of some existing methods are pointed out and to overcome these shortcomings, a new method is proposed to handle the sensitivity analysis of that kind of FLP problems in which the elements of the coefficient matrix of the constraints are represented by real numbers, and the remaining parameters are represented by symmetric trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. To the best of our knowledge, till now there is no method in the literature to deal with the sensitivity analysis of such FLP problems without converting them to the crisp linear programming problems. The advantages of the proposed method over existing methods are discussed. To illustrate the approach a numerical example is examined by using the proposed method and the obtained results are discussed. The method is easy to understand and to apply for dealing with the sensitivity analysis of the same problems occurring in real life situations. Description: In this paper a generalized form called fuzzy games on augmenting systems with fuzzy characteristic functions is introduced, where the player payoffs are fuzzy numbers, and their participation levels are real numbers in [0, 1]. Based on the defined restriction difference on fuzzy numbers, the explicit expression of the Shapley value is provided, and an axiomatic system is researched. Meantime, some properties are discussed. In order to better understand fuzzy games on augmenting systems with fuzzy characteristic functions, we further introduce and investigate fuzzy games on augmenting systems with multilinear extension and fuzzy characteristic functions. Description: Ensuring secure communication in mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is the main challenging task due to the network characteristics. In this paper, we apply fuzzy logic method and method of ant colony optimization (ACO) to establish a secure routing path with minimum delay for mobile ad hoc network. The ACO algorithm is used to establish a virtual backbone connecting cluster heads (CHs). The general ACO algorithm is modified to allow selection of routing path, based on trust value of the nodes lying in the routing path and delaying experienced in the path. The procedure uses a fuzzy logic controller to evaluate the trust value of the nodes based on node's QoS parameters: energy drain rate, lifetime of the node, packet drop rate and packet forwarding status of the node. The behavior of the protocol under various attacks is analyzed. Experimentation shows that the algorithm results in secure shortest routing path for data communication. Additionally, the packet drop rate and routing delay of the proposed routing protocol in presence of malicious nodes is fewer compared to secure cluster based routing protocol (SCBRP) and Fuzzy Logic based Security Level routing protocol (FLSL). Description: A grid computing environment provides a type of distributed computation that is unique because it is not centrally managed and it has the capability to connect heterogeneous resources. A grid system provides location-independent access to the resources and services of geographically distributed machines. An essential ingredient for supporting location-independent computations is the ability to discover resources that have been requested by the users. Because the number of grid users can increase and the grid environment is continuously changing, a scheduler that can discover decentralized resources is needed. Grid resource scheduling is considered to be a complicated, NP-hard problem because of the distribution of resources, the changing conditions of resources, and the unreliability of infrastructure communication. Various artificial intelligence algorithms have been proposed for scheduling tasks in a computational grid. This paper uses the imperialist competition algorithm (ICA) to address the problem of independent task scheduling in a grid environment, with the aim of reducing the makespan. Experimental results compare ICA with other algorithms and illustrate that ICA finds a shorter makespan relative to the others. Moreover, it converges quickly, finding its optimum solution in less time than the other algorithms. Description: A fuzzy associative memory is a fuzzy logic tool for pattern recognition or control problems. Fuzzy inference systems based on fuzzy associative memory have a wide range of practical applications. These systems need to be determined how to form and how many membership functions for each input variable by analyzing its histogram. This paper proposes an algorithm for optimizing their membership functions by a threshold set and a method that finds out optimal membership functions whereby classification effects of the fuzzy inference systems can be improved. The algorithm is associated with a measure of useful degree of input membership functions to increase accurate classification rates of the system. The paper also based on the experiment to show criteria for collecting training data to improve the effect of recognition or classification of the fuzzy inference systems. To confirm the effectiveness, the proposed algorithm is applied to a pattern recognition problem with the iris data through a fuzzy inference system based on fuzzy associative memory. Description: In this paper we study nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems with singular nonlinearities whose simplest example is −div (|∇u| p−2 ∇u)=f/u γ in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded open set in R N (N≥2), γ〉0, 1〈p〈N, 0≤f∈L m (Ω), m≥1. The main difficulty is due to the right hand side f(x)/u γ , since u=0 on the boundary. In order to overcome this “obstacle”, we approach our above model problem thanks to the smooth Dirichlet problems u n ∈W 1,p 0 (Ω): −div (|∇u n | p−2 ∇u n )=min(f(x),n)/(|u n |+1/n) γ and we prove that there exists a solution u as limit (in a suitable topology) of the sequence {u n }. To be more precise, we prove that the above model problem has a suitable solution u for every f in L 1 (Ω) and for every γ〉0 and how the regularity of u depends on the summability of f, on p and on γ. Description: In the present paper we give a procedure by which we generate a fuzzy ideal (resp. a fuzzy filter and a convex fuzzy sublattice) by a fuzzy set in a lattice. And we prove that a convex fuzzy sublattice generated by a fuzzy set is an intersection of a fuzzy ideal and a fuzzy filter generated by the same fuzzy set in a lattice. Moreover, the homomorphic image and pre-image of a fuzzy ideal (fuzzy filter and convex fuzzy sublattice) generated by a fuzzy set are studied. In particular, we prove that the set of convex fuzzy sublattices of a modular lattice can form a modular lattice. Finally, as an application of our main result, we give an interesting example in BCK-algebras. Description: Support Vector Machines (SVM) has recently received a great deal of attention in regression and classification problems for crisp data. However, the fuzzy structure of the system should be considered if available information is uncertain or imprecise. In this paper, a new approach called Hybrid Fuzzy Support Vector Regression (HF-SVR) is introduced for the linear and non-linear fuzzy regression modeling. According to the proposed algorithm, parameter estimates are obtained from the solutions of two optimization problems by using the basic idea underlying SVM and the least squares principle. Furthermore, different learning machines for non-linear fuzzy regression can be constructed according to the selection of kernel function. In order to compare HF-SVR with the previously published fuzzy support vector regression methods, the data sets used in these papers are adopted. Based on the findings obtained from the numerical applications, it is determined that proposed method gives remarkable results according to the measure of mean square error. Description: How to deal with the contradiction between mass production effect and customized demand is the key problem on mass customization (MC). With the development of supply chain management, we can settle the contradiction through flexible and effective supply chain operation and it relies on rational supply chain resource integration (SCRI). However, supply chain operation in MC has special characters, mainly reflected in the random order information and the outstanding changes of collaborative benefits and risks which will influence the SCRI process and the collaborative psychology and negotiation state between two integration sides. Through analyzing the integration framework from the relations of integration input and output, this paper gives a deep analysis on multi-stage dynamic game process about SCRI in MC from the view of balancing the benefits and risks among both negotiation sides and points out that the integration is a collaborative game process. Through dividing the game process reasonably, this paper describes the game stage features and the index changes of resource individuals' psychological expectations and appeals of their benefits and risks by fuzzy membership functions, and then puts forward a dynamic game decision method. Finally, testing by an application case, the method is feasible and effective. Description: In this paper, by a new ranking method of interval numbers which has a total order, interval cooperative games and some relevant definitions are firstly redefined, two important theorems are presented respectively to discuss the existence of the interval core and to prove the relations between the interval core and the interval dominance core. Then on the condition that the profit value of any coalition is not fully used to allocate, a generalized interval cooperative game and its solution concepts, such as generalized interval core, generalized interval dominance core are proposed. Further more, some extended theorems to discuss the existence and the relations about its solution concepts are developed. Finally, by a specific example, the reasonableness and validity of the above theoretical notions are verified. Description: Considering the fact that the main part of electrical energy losses is related to the distribution level; therefore, controlling and monitoring of this part of the network is necessary to reduce energy losses which is made possible through distribution automation. Distribution automation systems need decision making regarding the responsibilities being performed by operators. On the other hand, there is the possibility of incorrect decision making by operators due to the large volume of information and decision making time shortage during automation steps which can be created by incorrect information received from the network and consequently causes the incorrect control command sending to distribution network devices. Also, introducing the Distributed Generations (DGs) in the protection system of distribution network, it is possible for the protective devices to have an incorrect operation which affects the operators' decisions performed by the automation system. In this paper, a new Petri-Net modeling method is used to make the distribution network monitoring and automation possible and also to help the operator in correct decision making. In addition, the protective devices' operation is determined more reliably using the attained data from the automation system. Description: The aim of this paper is to present some cases of the induced linguistic ordered weighted averaging (ILOWA) operator which are very suitable to deal with group decision making (GDM) problems with additive linguistic preference relations. We propose the relative consensus degree ILOWA (RCD-ILOWA) operator which uses the relative consensus degree (RCD) variable as the order inducing variable, and the compatibility index ILOWA (CI-ILOWA) operator which uses the compatibility index (CI) variable as the order inducing variable. We also investigate some desired properties of RCD-ILOWA operator and the CI-ILOWA operator which provide theoretic basis for the application of the additive linguistic preference relations in GDM. A general formulation and a nonlinear model to determine experts' weights and two approaches based on the RCD-ILOWA operator and the CI-ILOWA operator for GDM involving additive linguistic preference relations are developed respectively. A numerical example for comprehensive evaluation is given to illustrate the applications of the new operators. Description: Nonadditive set functions represent contribution rate of individual feature attributes and combinations of feature attributes toward the target. Their nonadditivity describes the interaction among contributions. The generalized weighted Choquet integral with respect to a nonadditive set function serves as an aggregation tool, which may be used in the nonlinear objective function of optimization problems, to project n-dimensional feature space onto a real axis with a corresponding projection value. In this paper, we propose a special genetic algorithm model to identify the values of feature attributes that maximize the value of the objective function involving a generalized weighted Choquet integral. Thus, we may find the values of the feature attributes giving the greatest contribution toward the target. This is a generalization of linear programming to nonlinear cases. Description: This paper presents a novel approach for robust speed control of medium size induction motors using neuro-fuzzy dynamic sliding mode control. First, a simple dynamic model of induction motors is introduced. Then, a conventional sliding mode control is presented. To reduce the chattering phenomenon, dynamic sliding mode control is designed using a secondary PID-type sliding surface. Moreover, in order to eliminate the tedious trial and error procedure in choosing a proper uncertainty upper bound, uncertainties have been estimated using a neuro-fuzzy system. The online training of the neuro-fuzzy dynamic sliding mode control is based on the adaptation law derived from the stability analysis. In addition, the reconstruction error of the neuro-fuzzy system is compensated to guarantee the asymptotic convergence of the speed tracking error. Simulation results verify that the neuro-fuzzy dynamic sliding mode control is robust against various uncertainties including parametric variations, external load disturbance, unmodeled dynamics and input voltage disturbances. Description: Rule classifiers enhance understanding of data and enable to represent learned knowledge in an explicit structural form. To further improve this understanding and generalisation properties of predictors, the process of selection of decision rules can be executed. The paper presents a post-processing approach to this task. In a proposed research framework there were exploited rankings of attributes the rules refer to, thus transferring the established importance of features to the rules based on them. The attributes were weighted by selected statistical measures and machine learning algorithms. The rule classifiers were constructed in Dominance-Based Rough Set Approach and employed in the domain of stylometry for the task of authorship attribution. Description: Group probability classifier learning is an emerging and promising learning technique, especially in privacy-preserving data mining. It is used to train a classifier from a group probability dataset, where the class labels of each sample are unknown while the probabilities of each class in the given data groups of the whole dataset are available. The existing work is mainly based on the inverse calibration (IC) strategy to obtain the estimated labels for data in the group probability dataset and then make use of classical classification algorithms such as support vector machine (SVM) model to train the desired classifier. A critical challenge of the exiting IC-based methods lies in the difficulty of designing an ideal IC function for label estimation and the methods are sensitive to the adopted IC function. In order to overcome this shortcoming, a novel probability transductive classifier that does not involve IC in the learning procedure is proposed, where the probability values are directly used as the output of the training data for the model training. Particularly, on the training data with the output being continuous real values, the existing classical regression model can be easily adopted to model the group probability classification problem. For a future testing data, the model output of the obtained group probability classification model can present the probability that the testing data belong to the positive class. With a given threshold, the final class label of the testing data can be obtained for the classification task. The experimental results on synthetic datasets and real UCI datasets show that the proposed method is more effective than the existing methods. Description: The primary benefit of fuzzy systems theory is to approximate system behavior where analytic functions or numerical relations do not exist. In soil mechanics relationship between the causes and effects can be observed with laboratory tests but is difficult to develop analytical functions or numerical relations between input and output. In geotechnical optimization the most usual constraints represent state variables of structural response for each loading case. The aim of this paper is to define the soft constrain with adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) in the soil mechanics. The developed soft constrain is than applied in non-linear programming (NLP) to obtain optimal solution. In the case of soil compaction the performance of the proposed optimization algorithm is evaluated. The main aim of soil compaction is to define optimal water content at which soil can be compacted to a densest state that improve their mechanical and physical properties. Description: Multiple features such as the margin, the shape and the texture of plant leaves are of great importance for classification of plant species, as they are often regarded as the unique features to identify plants. In this paper, we study the performance of a recently proposed semi-supervised fuzzy clustering algorithm with feature discrimination for leaf classification, based on features generated by principal component analysis of color images. The method outlines a basic framework for judging the weights of different features by adopting multiple feature matrixes obtained from the initial images as input data and the clustering results of the proposed clustering algorithm as output data to distinguish dissimilarities between various leaves. Real leaf images are employed to evaluate its performance and the experiment demonstrates that these results suggest that the margin feature, the shape feature and combination feature especially the margin feature and combination feature may be the best choice for leaf classification. Description: Water quality has degraded dramatically in the Krishna River (India) due to point and non-point sources. Present investigation aims to assess temporal variations of physical and chemical parameters of the river. Environmental data from rural and urban areas for the period 2007–2012 were compared. A statistical analysis was carried out with six environmental variables considering a multivariate system, analysis of variance and principal component analysis. Statistical analysis divided the river into two zones with different degrees of contamination. The most polluted zone is due to pollution inputs of municipal and industrial origin; this region showed a remarkable deterioration in water quality, mainly due to wastewater discharges. Description: The hydrogeochemical study of surface and sub-surface water resources of Deogarh district of Jharkhand state was undertaken to assess major ion chemistry and water quality in relation to domestic and irrigation uses. Analytical results show mildly acidic to alkaline nature of water and dominance of Ca^{2+} and Na^+ in cationic and HCO_3^- and Cl^- in anionic abundance. In general, alkaline earth elements (Ca^{2+}+Mg^{2+}) exceed alkalies (Na^++K^+) and weak acids dominate (HCO_3^-) over strong acids (SO_4^{2-}+Cl^-) in majority of water samples. Ca-Mg-HCO_3 is the dominant hydrochemical facies both in surface and groundwater of the area. Weathering of rock forming minerals and ion exchange processes mainly controlled solute chemistry with secondary contribution from anthropogenic sources. Assessments of water quality for drinking purposes pointed that majority of water samples are suitable for drinking. Concentration of TDS, TH, F^-, Cl^- and NO_3^- are exceeding desirable levels prescribed for drinking water at some sites. However, these parameters are well within the maximum permissible limit except for some cases. SAR, RSC, %Na, MH and PI values suggest that both surface and groundwater are good for irrigation uses except at some sites, where salinity, MH and PI values are higher than the prescribed levels. Description: This investigation quantified spatial variability of heavy metals and followed methods of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to estimate the hazard indices as well as cancer risks associated with consuming fish caught in the waters of the Langat river basin area, Malaysia. The calculation of metal pollution index (MPI) was carried out to classify the study area according to the level of contamination and the order of stations from highest to lowest MPI values was Langat river 〉 Cempaka lake 〉 Engineering pond 〉 Pond B 〉 Pond A 〉 Jugra 〉 Bandar. The level of exposure due to the consumption of each chemical in Tilapia fish tissue was estimated in an average daily dose equation. The calculated HI ranging from 0.24 to 1.88 indicated 71% stations were in the risk level. Potential carcinogenic risks associated with the ingestion of heavy metals in Tilapia fish were evaluated probabilistically by performing 10,000 trials for Monte Carlo simulation. Cancer risk calculations exceeding the U.S. EPA's acceptable risk level of 1 in 1,000,000 (or 10^{-6}) included Ni (7.3 ×10^{-4}) and Cd (2.1 ×10^{-6}). However, the average carcinogenic risk (2.4 × 10^{-4}) exceeded the accepted risk level to a great extent. The recommended daily ingestion rate of Tilapia for Malaysian people inhabiting Langat river basin area was calculated considering 95th percentile TR value of 10^{-6} as an acceptable risk where it is revealed that consumption of Tilapia should be reduced about 67% from the current level to have an acceptable risk of cancer. Description: We consider the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation in a planar domain with a small hole. The diameter of the hole is proportional to a real parameter ε and we denote by u ε the corresponding solution. If p is a point of the domain, then for ε small we write u ε (p) as a convergent power series of ε and of 1/(r 0 +(2π) −1 log |ε|), with r 0 ∈R. The coefficients of such series are given in terms of solutions of recursive systems of integral equations. We obtain a simplified expression for the series expansion of u ε (p) in the case of a ring domain. Content Type Journal Article Pages 339-361 DOI 10.3233/ASY-151283 Authors M. Description: In this paper, we investigate an initial-boundary value problem for a chemotaxis–fluid system in a general bounded regular domain Ω⊂R N (N∈{2,3}), not necessarily being convex. Thanks to the elementary lemma given by Mizoguchi and Souplet [Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré – AN 31 (2014), 851–875], we can derive a new type of entropy–energy estimate, which enables us to prove the following: (1) for N=2, there exists a unique global classical solution to the full chemotaxis–Navier–Stokes system, which converges to a constant steady state (n ∞ ,0,0) as t→+∞, and (2) for N=3, the existence of a global weak solution to the simplified chemotaxis–Stokes system. Our results generalize the recent work due to Winkler [Commun. Partial Diff. Equ. 37 (2012), 319–351; Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 211 (2014), 455–487], in which the domain Ω is essentially assumed to be convex. Description: In this paper, a homogenization problem for an elliptic system with non-periodic, state-dependent coefficients representing microstructure is investigated. The state functions defining the tensor of coefficients are assumed to have an intrinsic length scale denoted by ε〉0. The aim is the derivation of an effective model by investigating the limit process ε→0 of the state functions rigorously. The effective model is independent of the parameter ε〉0 but preserves the microscopic structure of the state functions (ε〉0), meaning that the effective tensor is given by a unit cell problem prescribed by a suitable microscopic tensor. Due to the non-periodic structure of the state functions and the corresponding microstructure, the effective tensor turns out to vary from point to point (in contrast to a periodic microscopic model). In a forthcoming paper, these states will be solutions of an additional evolution law describing changes of the microstructure. Such changes could be the consequences of temperature changes, phase separation or damage progression, for instance. Here, in addition to the above and as a preparation for an application to time-dependent damage models (discussed in a future paper), we provide a Γ-convergence result of sequences of functionals being related to the previous microscopic models with state-dependent coefficients. This requires a penalization term for piecewise constant state functions that allows us to extract from bounded sequences those sequences converging to a Sobolev function in some sense. The construction of the penalization term is inspired by techniques for Discontinuous Galerkin methods and is of own interest. A compactness and a density result are provided. Description: Transportation problems have wide applications in logistics and supply chain for reducing the cost. Effective algorithms have been proposed to solve the transportation problem in the case when all of the parameters, namely the supply, demand values and the unit transportation costs, are given in a precise way. However, in real applications, there are many diverse situations due to uncertainty. So, it is significant to investigate the transportation problem under uncertain environment. In this paper, a two-step method is proposed for solving fuzzy transportation problem (FTP) where all of the parameters are represented by non-negative triangular fuzzy numbers. The first is to employ fuzzy arithmetic to convert FTP into a linear programming with fuzzy costs and crisp constraints. The second is to use a new decomposition technique to transform the resulting problem into three crisp bounded transportation problems. The advantages of the proposed method over the existing methods are discussed by an application example. The obtained results show that the method proposed in this study is simpler and computationally more efficient than some existing methods commonly used in the literature. Existing empirical equations to predict reaeration coefficient is merely based on natural reaeration (Ku ), which refers to the oxygen transfer across the natural free surfaces while reaeration coefficient concerned with artificial reaeration caused by turbulence due to intense boat traffic (Kb ) has not been explored previously. This study investigated the influence of boating activities on DO and its associated reaeration coefficient, Kb , along the Brunei River.

The model performance have been estimated and compared statistically with the traffic emitted airborne carbon monoxide (CO), the prevalent meteorology and the temporal distribution of

Description: The concept of soft set theory was introduced by D. Molodtsov in 1999 for modeling uncertainty. In [13] a special kinds of soft sets, namely soft neighborhood set, was defined and the relations between this concept and classical topology was given. In this paper, our aim is to extend the studies in [13]. We study on some properties of compactness and lower separation axioms in soft neighborhood sets and generalize Alexander subbase theorem and Tychonoff theorem to soft neighborhood sets. Description: A new method to solve non-linear mixed-integer constrained power distribution system expansion planning problems in presence of distributed generations (DGs) is investigated in this paper. The objective functions of this model are total energy not supplied (ENS) as reliability index, total expansion cost, and total voltage deviation. The final optimal solution proposes type, location and size of new equipment to meet the demand growth in the distribution system. An intelligent population based optimization algorithm called Binary Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (BSFLA) is proposed to solve the problem. The interactive fuzzy method is used to solve the multi-objective optimization problem, so that conflicting objective functions can be easily consider together and achieve a set of non-dominated (Pareto-optimal) solutions. The model is applied on a standard IEEE distribution system to demonstrate the efficiency and feasibility of proposed method. Description: Separation of convex sets by hyperplanes has been extensively studied on crisp sets. In a seminal paper from L. A. Zadeh [1] separability and convexity are investigated, however there is a flaw on the definition of degree of separation. We revisited separation on convex fuzzy sets that have level-wise (crisp) disjointness with non-empty interior at certain level and introduced the concept of minimal level of separation for such fuzzy sets. On this context, the smallest level in which a separation by a hyperplane occurs coincides with the maximal degree of the (fuzzy) intersection. Moreover, this property suggests an algorithm for finding the maximal grade of a (fuzzy) intersection based on hyperplane separability level-wise of fuzzy sets.
