    Description: Aus Messungen mit zwei verschiedenen Reversionspendelgeraten wird für den Doppelpfeiler SO im Pendelsaal des ehemaligen Geodätischen Institute Potsdam (seit 1969 Teil des Zentralinstituts Physik der Erde) der Schwerewert g = (981,260 1 ± 0,000 3) cm·s-2 abgeleitet. Dieser Wert entspricht einer Abweichung von -13,9 mGal gegenüber dem aus den Messungen von KÜHNEN und FURТWÄNGLER (1898 - 1904) abgeleiteten Bezugswert des Potsdamer Schweresystems. Die vorliegende Arbeit enthält neben grundsätzlichen Darstellungen zur Theorie des Reversionspendelverfahrens nähere Angaben zu den benutzten Geraten, den Meßergebnissen und der Ableitung des Schwerewertes. Sie wird ergänzt durch einen umfangreichen Überblick über die seit KÜHNЕN und FURТWÄNGLER (1898-1904) absoluten Schweremessungen und einen Vergleich dieser Arbeiten mit dem hier vorgelegten Ergebnis der neuen Potsdamer Reversionspendelmessungen.

    Description: The first modern English edition of Richard Wagner's essays on conducting, extensively annotated, with a critical essay on Wagner as conductor: his aesthetic, practices, vocabulary, and impact. Richard Wagner was one of the leading conductors of his time. Through his disciples Hans von Bülow, Hans Richter, Anton Seidl, Felix Mottl, Arthur Nikisch, and their many notable protégés, a Wagnerian art of interpretation became the norm in Europe and America until well into the twentieth century. Wagner's essays on conducting had an even longer impact, and were upheld as central to their art by later generations of conductors from Mahler to Strauss, Furtwängler, Böhm, Scherchen, and beyond. This is the first complete, modern translation of Wagner's conducting essays to appear in English, and the first-ever edition to offer extensive annotations explaining their reception and impact. The accompanying critical essay offers a detailed analysis of Wagner's conducting practices, his innovations in tempo and the art of transition, his creation of a new vocabulary to describe his art, and his success in establishing a school of conductors to promote his works and his aesthetic.     Description: Es werden die Störungen im zeitlichen Ablauf der Amplituden und Phasen zweier auf elastischem Stativ schwingender Schwerependel untersucht. Betrag und Periode der Störungen werden in Abhängigkeit von den Anfangsbedingungen und dem Verhältnis [...] zwischen dem Parameter der elastischen Kopplung und der Verstimmung der beiden Pendel dargestellt. Es zeigt sich, daß die Amplituden und Phasendifferenzen bei [...] = 1 am stärksten gestört sind und mit wachsendem [...] zunehmend von den Anfangsbedingungen beeinflußt werden. Die Ergebnisse absoluter und relativer Pendelmessungen bestätigen den theoretischen Befund.
    Description: Disturbances are investigated which are introduced by the sway effect into the time-functions of amplitudes and phases of two pendulums swinging on the same support. Rate and period of the disturbances are represented as functions of the initial conditions and the quotient [...] formed by the parameter of elastic coupling and the differences of the periods of the two pendulums. Hence it follows that the perturbations of the amplitudes and phase differences are biggest if [...] = 1. With increasing [...] the influence of the initial condi tions is growing up. The results of absolute and relative pendulum measurements confirm the theoretical statements.
