    Description: 〈P〉Vasilij Kirillovič Trediakovskij: dieser Name allein schreckt die meisten Leser ab. Daß dieser Gelehrte neben Lomonosov zu den Gründern der neueren russischen Literatur gehört, wird selten gebührend erwähnt. Diese Arbeit soll von ihm handeln, und besonders von einem Werk, das beinahe nicht zur Kenntnis genommen wird. Es soll eine gänzlich in Vergessenheit geratene Begegnung wieder ans Licht kommen: die Begegnung zwischen dem Autor Trediakovskij, dessen Rolle in der Literaturgeschichte unterschätzt wird, und einem Roman John Barclays, der "Argenis", dem in ganz Europa populärsten Roman des 17. Jahrhunderts. Hier wird eine Übersetzung Gegenstand sein; dennoch handelt es sich hier keineswegs um eine übersetzungskritische Arbeit. 〈/P〉

    The System of the Inquisition in Medieval Europe (2021)

    Description: This book reexamines the origins and growth of the medieval inquisition which provided a framework for the large-scale operations against religious dissidents. In the last quarter of the twelfth century, the papacy launched concerted efforts to hunt out heretics, mostly Cathars and Waldensians, and directed operations against them all across Latin Christendom. The bull of Pope Lucius III Ad abolendam of 1184 became a turning point in the formation of the inquisitorial system which made both the clergy and the laity responsible for suppressing any religious dissent. From a comparative perspective, the study analyzes political, social and religious developments which in the High Middle Ages gave birth to the mechanism of repression and religious violence supervised by the papacy and operated by bishops and, starting from the 1230s, papal inquisitors, extraordinary judges delegate staffed mostly by Dominican and Franciscan friars.

    Description: Die vorliegende Arbeit ist eine Beschreibung des Nominalsystems im Uspenskij Sbornik, einer russisch-kirchenslavischen Sammelhandschrift aus dem 12.-13. Jahrhundert. Es handelt sich dabei um den ältesten erhaltenen ostslavischen Sammelband, der neben Werken der Übersetzungsliteratur auch Werke ostslavischer Herkunft, das Skazanie von Boris und Gleb, das Skazanie von den Wundern der beiden Heiligen Roman und David und die Vita des Feodosij Pečerskij enthält. Dazu kommen aus der ältesten Zeit des slavischen Schrifttums die Vita des Slavenapostels Method und die Laudatio für Kyrill und Method, ferner eine Homilie über Christi Himmelfahrt, die seit Kalajdovič als Originalwerk des Exarchen Johannes gilt.

Anhand eines Vergleichs des Nominalkompostionssystems vor der Revolution und des heutigen sollten Entwicklungstendenzen in diesem Teilsystem der Wortbildung festgestellt werden. Im Zusammenhang damit wird der Versuch unternommen, die sprachimmanenten Bedingungen für das erscheinen jenes besonderen Typs von Komposita zu analysieren, die russisch als "složnosokraščennye slova" bezeichnet werden und deutsch meist als "Kurzwörter" bekannt sind.

That "his" Puškin is to be understood in this frame of interpretation as a cultural symbol with identity-forming and dialogical potential and not just as a "translat" reflects the positions of the said translator.
    Description: Zwei hier vorliegende Beiträge suchen den Zugang zum Fortwirken einer zeitweise verschütteten Petersburger Überlieferung in einem europäischen Raum am Beispiel des deutschsprachigen Dichters Henry von Heiseler.     Description: The author of this thesis is aware that the above-mentioned contrastive studies deal extensively with the aspect and action type issues from their respective perspectives. Nevertheless, she has decided to take a stand on this topic herself. 1. The essay is a Germanic work that represents certain areas of the German language in contrast to Polish. 2. The aim of the work is a linguistic text analysis and not the description of the language systems. For the purposes of the essay, various texts have been selected and analyzed and described according to certain principles. Therefore, the results of the study are text corpus related. 3. The broad definition of aspectuality enables the comparison of different phenomena that are not only related to the verbal level but also take into account the contextual sentence and text levels. 4. Both translation directions Polish-German and German-Polish will be considered in the paper. Not only Polish, but also German original texts provide pertinent signals that need to be described and that can usually be found again in the translation.
    Description: Die Verfasserin dieser Arbeit ist sich dessen bewusst, dass die oben erwähnten kontrastiven Untersuchungen die Aspekt- und Aktionsartproblematik aus ihrer jeweiligen Sicht ausführlich behandeln. Trotzdem hat sie sich entschieden, selbst Stellung zu diesem Thema zu nehmen. 1. Die Abhandlung ist eine germanistische Arbeit, die bestimmte Bereiche der deutschen Sprache im Kontrast zum Polnischen darstellt. 2. Das Ziel der Arbeit ist eine linguistische Textanalyse und nicht die Beschreibung der Sprachsysteme. Für die Zwecke der Abhandlung wurden verschiedene Texte ausgewählt und nach bestimmten Prinzipien analysiert und beschrieben. Von daher sind die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung textkorpusbezogen. 3. Die breite Definition der Aspektualität ermöglicht den Vergleich verschiedener Phänomene, die sich nicht nur auf die verbale Ebene beziehen, sondern auch die kontextuelle Satz- und Textebene berücksichtigen. 4. Beide Übersetzungsrichtungen Polnisch-Deutsch und Deutsch-Polnisch werden in der Abhandlung berücksichtigt. Nicht nur polnische, sondern auch deutsche Originaltexte liefern nämlich aspektuelle Signale, die es zu beschreiben gilt und die in der Regel auch in der Übersetzung wieder zu finden sind.

    Description: During the Middle Ages, rulers from different regions aspired to an idea of imperial hegemony. On the other hand, there were rulers who deliberately refused to be «emperors», although their reign showed characteristics of imperial rule. The contributions in this volume ask for the reasons why some rulers such as Charlemagne strove for imperial titles, whereas others voluntarily shrank from them. They also look at the characteristics of and rituals connected to imperial rule as well as to the way Medieval empires saw themselves. Thus, the authors in this volume adopt a transcultural perspective, covering Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern Europe, Byzantium and the Middle East. Furthermore, they go beyond the borders of Christianity by including various caliphates and Islamic «hegemonic» rulers like Saladin.

    Description: The topic of this book is practical knowledge in early modern Europe, interpreted widely as recipes containing art procedures or medical panaceas between 1400 and 1700. In this book, the 1) origin or creation, 2) transmission or dissemination, and 3) use or consumption are key subjects for understanding the place of practical knowledge in early modern European society. After a historiographical and theoretical approach, this book applies Deleuze and Guattari’s rhizome metaphor to art technological literature. The first part ends with a study about medical practitioners and mediators who disseminate practical knowledge through the printing press.     Description: N.M. Karamzin's "Pis'ma russkogo putešestvennika" (hereinafter PRP) occupy a special place in the history of Russian language and literature. Since their publication as a continuation novel in "Moskovskiy Žurnal" from 1791-1792 (in the following MŽ 1) they are considered both the first realization of the "novyj slog" (new language / new style) as well as the beginning of Russian sentimentalism. Both assumptions are controversial. The present work should contribute to the clarification of contentious questions by providing a detailed description of the syntactic facts in the main work of Karamzin for the first time.
    Description: N. M. Karamzins "Pis'ma russkogo putešestvennika" (im folgenden PRP) nehmen in der Geschichte der russischen Sprache und Literatur einen besonderen Platz ein. Seit ihrem Erscheinen als Fortsetzungsroman im "Moskovskij Žurnal" von 1791-1792 (im folgenden MŽ 1) gelten sie sowohl als erste Realisierung des "novyj slog" (neue Sprache/neuer Stil) als auch als Beginn des russischen Sentimentalismus. Beide Annahmen sind umstritten. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll hier insofern einen Beitrag zur Klärung strittiger Fragen leisten, als sie erstmals eine detaillierte Beschreibung der syntaktischen Tatsachen im Hauptwerk Karamzins liefert.

    Description: The present study is a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of the system of long and short adjectives in Old Russian, a profound language change to which very little previous research has been devoted. It is generally assumed that in prehistoric Slavic, the system was purely grammatical with the long form denoting definiteness and the short form denoting indefiniteness. The present study finds, on the basis of evidence collected from Old Russian chronicle texts, that even the earliest of these sources display a substantially transformed system no longer reflecting the opposition between definiteness and indefiniteness, but governed by parameters of information structure.

    Description: This book provides an overview of the modifications and interaction of the Second-Language Learning discursive formation and the Identity discursive formation over four centuries of Russian history. It proposes an explanatory model in which small-scale linguistic detail is combined harmoniously with larger-scale language units in order to illuminate matters of cultural importance in their linguistic guise. Hallmark of its interdisciplinary scope is the isomorphic interpretation of image and text. Compositionally, interdisciplinarity pours into a nonlinear narrative; this narrative follows a spiral, redefining on a higher level and in a different setting distinctions, which were first discovered on a lower level with the theoretical devices of other disciplines. The lower coil of the helix accommodates the complementary argumentations of anthropology and lexical semantics; the higher one brings the conclusions to the plane of discourse analysis and semiotics

    Description: European culture has been greatly influenced by the Christian Church and Greek and Roman culture. However, the peoples of Europe’s remote past, whom the Greeks, Romans, and their medieval heirs called the «barbarians», also left their mark. Closely examining ancient and medieval narratives and the codifications of laws, this thoughtfully conducted comparative study sheds light on the illiterate societies of the early Germanic and Slavic peoples. The picture that emerges is one of communities built on kinship, neighborly, and tribal relations, where decision making, judgement, and punishment were carried out collectively, and the distinction between the sacred and profane was unknown.

    Description: European politics has provided clear signals: the next round in the process of EU enlargement with the accession of the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) will come. Since expectations concerning the costs and benefits of integration are varied, it is our aim to contribute to this discussion by undertaking an empirical assessment of integration. Firstly the extent of potential free labour mobility between the CEEC and the EU is assessed using an econometric model. On that basis, different integration scenarios, i.e. trade liberalisation, capital transfers and labour migration are simulated using a computable general equilibrium model. Our results suggest that migration flows will be moderate and that integration is likely to cause positive welfare effects in the CEEC and negligible effects in the EU.

    Description: The concerns not only of the Slavic minorities are gaining in significance with the forthcoming eastward enlargement of the European Union. The Russians or Ruthenians are a Slavic ethnic group, which is mainly located in the Carpathian region as a border area between Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine, an excellent example of this, as their culture and language not only in a historical and religious, but also developed in a linguistic border or transition area. Only at the turn of the last century did they succeed in gaining greater attention for their language and culture. In the course of the last century, the development of their language has fluctuated regionally between oppression and normalization / codification. This was accompanied by the weakening or strengthening of Russian identity, which experienced an unexpected boom at the end of the 20th century after the end of the communist regime.
    Description: Die Anliegen nicht nur der slavischen Minderheiten gewinnen mit der bevorstehenden Osterweiterung der Europäischen Union an Bedeutung. Die Russinen oder Ruthenen sind als slavische Volksgruppe,die vor allem im Karpatenraum als Grenzgebiet zwischen Polen, Ungarn, der Slowakei und der Ukraine beheimatet ist, ein hervorragendes Beispiel dafür, da sich ihre Kultur und Sprache nicht nur in einem historischen und religiösen, sondern auch in einem sprachlichen Grenz- bzw. Übergangsgebiet entwickelt hat. Erst um die vorletzte Jahrhundertwende gelang es ihnen, ihrer Sprache und Kultur größere Aufmerksamkeit zu verschaffen. Im Laufe des letzten Jahrhunderts schwankte die Entfaltung ihrer Sprache regional zwischen Unterdrückung und Normierung/Kodifizierung. Damit einher ging die Schwächung bzw. Stärkung russinischer Identität, die am Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts nach dem Ende der kommunistischen Regime eine unerwartete Blüte erlebte.

    Description: Love discourses, according to the basic thesis of the work, are figurative in Narbikova's texts as constituting the text. Their characteristic is the shift from (love) semantics to a specific (love) rhetoric. Love discourses in the textual presentation are no longer constituted through the traditional narration of love stories or stories about love, but through a practice of love-speech. As a result, language no longer functions as a means of description, but itself becomes the object of description and reflection. Examining this phenomenon in conjunction with the theme of love discourses is the main interest of the work.
    Description: Liebesdiskurse, so die Grundthese der Arbeit, figurieren in Narbikovas Texten als textkonstituierend. Deren Charakteristikum ist die Verschiebung von (Liebes-)Semantik hin zu einer spezifischen (Liebes-)Rhetorik. Liebesdiskurse werden in der textuellen Darstellung nicht mehr über das traditionelle Erzählen von Liebesgeschichten bzw. Geschichten über die Liebe konstituiert, sondern durch eine Praxis des Liebe-Sprechens. Sprache fungiert demzufolge nicht mehr als Mittel der Beschreibung, sondern avanciert selbst zum Gegenstand von Beschreibung und Reflexion. Der Untersuchung dieses Phänomens im Konnex mit dem Thema der Liebesdiskurse gilt das wesentliche Interesse der Arbeit.

    Description: Regional disparities and spatial clustering are ubiquitous in today’s world. This study contributes with empirical findings on the distribution of European research and patenting activity since the 1980s at the regional level. Besides a general theoretical part, it offers a quantitative clustering analysis, which makes use of EPO patent applications and a harmonized regional and technological classification. Moreover, the pan-European study incorporates a structural analysis of inter-regional co-patenting networks at the regional and technological level that covers the 1990s and 2000s. Finally, European regional income and growth disparities are addressed by placing emphasis on the spatial distribution of research activity and the regional settlement structure.

    Description: This monograph book offers a new interpretation of northern European art of the fifteenth century. The author presents it as a conglomerate of objects-things which act on the recipient in a specific – material and spatial – way. He analyzes macro-scale objects that impose movement on the viewer, and micro-scale objects that encourage manipulation. Inspired by the anti-anthropocentric concept of “returning to things” (B. Latour, A. Gell and others), the author searches for the “agency of things” in late-medieval art objects, which evoke specific liturgical, devotional, propaganda-political behaviors, or establish the status of social owner of the object that once co-created the network of material and spiritual culture. This methodologically innovative approach is part of the latest research in early art in Western Europe and the United States.

    Description: In the present monograph the author tries to get to the bottom of the traditional view that in Bulgarian there is a morphological category with the meaning 'rendering of foreign speech', called renarrative. However, the analysis of the formative-meaning relationship has shown that neither the given paradigm has this meaning nor does the expression of the corresponding concept necessitate the application of the forms, but rather the explication of the meaning 'renarrative' as well as that of the so-called admirativ u.a.m. only at the level of expression. The forms under discussion are one building block next to another, which has the semantic invariant 'state constancy' as its content and merges into the morphological category 'Tempus' as a perfect and / or pluperfect (variant). Apart from the discussion of the term 'mode', the origin of this mode of expression as well as the position of Bulgarian are examined in detail from a typological point of view.
    Description: In der vorliegenden Monographie unternimmt die Autorin den Versuch, der traditionellen Auffassung auf den Grund zu gehen, daß es im Bulgarischen eine morphologische Kategorie mit der Bedeutung 'Wiedergabe fremder Rede', genannt Renarrativ, gibt. Die Analyse der Formativ-Bedeutung-Beziehung hat allerdings ergeben, daß weder das vorgegebene Paradigma diese Bedeutung aufweist noch der Ausdruck des entsprechenden Konzeptes die Anwendung der Formen notwendig macht, sondern die Explikation der Bedeutung 'Renarrativ' wie auch die des sog. Admirativs u.a.m. erst auf der Äußerungsebene erfolgt. Bei den zur Diskussion stehenden Formen handelt es sich um einen Baustein neben anderen, der die semantische Invariante 'Zustandskonstatierung' zum Inhalt hat und als Perfekt- bzw. Plusquamperfekt(variante) in der morphologischen Kategorie 'Tempus' aufgeht.     Description: The aim of the research is to demonstrate, using the example of the field of semantics, that the political lexicism of the Russian language of the twentieth century, despite its variability, forms a historical and supra-ideological unity, which continues to be closely linked to the lexicon of a general discourse. The following questions set the framework for the analysis: 1) How uniform and complex is the system of meanings in the political lexic of the Russian language in the twentieth century; 2) how continuous has the semantic development of this vocabulary area been; 3) what general regularities has the development process followed; 4) how does the political lexicon relate to the overall lexical-semantic system of the Russian language or to the overall system of international political lexicism?
    Description: Ziel der Forschungsarbeit ist es, am Beispiel des Bereiches der Semantik nachzuweisen, daß die politische Lexik der russischen Sprache des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts trotz ihrer Variabilität eine historische und überideologische Einheit bildet, die weiterhin eng verbunden ist mit der Lexik eines übereinzelsprachlichen Gesamtdiskurses. Folgende Fragen geben der Analyse den Rahmen vor: 1) Wie einheitlich und komplex ist das System der Bedeutungen in der politischen Lexik der russischen Sprache im zwanzigsten Jahrhundert; 2) wie kontinuierlich ist die semantische Entwicklung dieses Wortschatzbereiches verlaufen; 3) welchen allgemeinen Regularitäten ist der Entwicklungsprozeß gefolgt; 4) in welchem Verhältnis steht die politische Lexik zum lexikalisch-semantischen Gesamtsystem der russischen Sprache bzw. zum Gesamtsystem der internationalen politischen Lexik.

    Description: This book is a collection of contributions to a symposium which was organized by the Southeast Europe Association (Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft) on the topic "Women in the Balkans/Southeastern Europe" and held on 3rd and 4th November 2014 in Munich. It reflects on the present situation of women in the Balkans/Southeast Europe which has experienced fundamental changes since the end of the communist/socialist regime and the transition towards a market oriented economy as well as the wars in former Yugoslavia. These fundamental changes and war time experiences have not only implicated disorders in political and social status, but also a backlash in terms of return to patriarchal values as well as to traditional gender relations and hierarchies. A perception of gender roles following traditional patterns and a concept of femininity reducing women to their bodies, open sexism in media, the so called "sex industry" and "women markets" plus the ban of abortion, increased domestic violence and trafficking in women have been combined with neoliberal values, right ideology, neo-patriarchy and the ruling concept of masculinity. On the other hand, women have also used their chance to create their own business, not to forget female subcultures. Women`s participation in decision-making, especially in political parties, and their representation in the public scenery is an important indicator for the degree of their emancipation. Bringing together women engaged on women`s issues in different areas - from the academia, the Non-Governmental Organisations and civil society, and policy makers - is bound to result in a variety of perspectives and views.

    Description: The financial and economic crisis that hit Europe in 2009 brought out the precariousness of the monetary union, accentuating the economic disequilibrium among European nations and strengthening Euro-skepticism. The crisis served as a catalyst for long-standing and unresolved problems: the creation of a singly monetary area with intergovernmental control, the final act in the construction of a Europe economically united but without a government and a state; the consequent discrepancy between forming a consensus that remains in large part national and the political dynamics in Europe; the sustainability of a monetary union in the absence of an economic-social union, which presents again the long-standing debate between "monetarist" countries and "economist" countries.This book aims at placing current events within a long-term framework composed of a mosaic of multidisciplinary contributions that can provide the reader with keys which are adequate for an understanding of these events and useful for opening up new horizons.The book begins with a look at 20th-century monetary unification projects in an attempt at reconstructing the long road toward the single currency: the first monetary unification projects in the 1950s and 1960s; the turbulence of the 1970s; the new impetus given by the European Monetary System to the cohesion among European countries; the causes of the 1992 crisis; and the long struggle for the Monetary Union, which would end at Maastricht. Finally, it focuses on the most recent events – the creation of the Eurozone and its crisis – starting from the turbulent years of the first decade of the new millennium and ending on May 31, 2016, just before the Brexit referendum.The book focuses on analyzing the strategies undertaken during the monetary unification process, underscoring, on the one hand, the conviction of the Founding Fathers of the EMU that a single currency would favor further progress toward a more stringent economic and political integration, and on the other the continuing national resistance to the transfer of sovereignty from the national states to the European Union.

Bondarko is based, which is undoubtedly suitable, with particular attention to the grammatical categories, but also the relevant factual links (i.e., morphological and syntactic categories) to prepare the material for the acquisition of the foreign language Russian onomasiologisch. Such an approach, an essential component of a so-called active grammar, is needed to complement the semasiological approach, which is still often in the foreground.

    Description: Questions are communicatively on an equal footing with statements. However, while the greatest number of syntactic studies deal with formal and functional aspects of declarative sentences, so far only a handful of Slavic works have been devoted to the structural features of interrogative sentences in Slavic languages. The present work shows that - contrary to the first impression - there are many relevant subtle differences in the syntax and use of supplementary questions in Slavic languages, which have to be integrated into a theory of questioning. For reviewing generalizations that v. a. Developed in formal syntax descriptions, the author uses data from extensive corpora and individual interviews as well as collected acceptability judgments from controlled experimental studies. Specifically, the work deals with Russian, Polish and Czech with the position of question expressions in simple supplementary questions, the possibilities of sentence entanglement and the syntax of questions with multiple question expressions. In addition to the surface form, the contextual and communicative function of the structure types is also taken into account.
    Description: Fragen stehen kommunikativ gleichberechtigt neben Aussagen. Während sich aber die größte Zahl syntaktischer Studien mit formalen und funktionalen Aspekten von Deklarativsätzen beschäftigt, wurden bisher nur wenige slavistische Arbeiten den strukturellen Merkmalen von Fragesätzen in slavischen Sprachen gewidmet. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt, daß - entgegen dem ersten Eindruck - viele relevante einzelsprachliche Feinunterschiede in der Syntax und Verwendung von Ergänzungsfragen in slavischen Sprachen auftreten, die in eine Theorie der Fragesatzbildung integriert werden müssen. Zur Überprüfung von Generalisierungen, die v. a. in formalen Syntaxbeschreibungen entwickelt wurden, zieht der Autor Daten aus umfangreichen Korpora und Einzelbefragungen sowie erhobene Akzeptabilitätsurteile aus kontrollierten experimentellen Studien heran. Im Einzelnen befaßt sich die Arbeit anhand des Russischen, Polnischen und Tschechischen mit der Position von Frageausdrücken in einfachen Ergänzungsfragen, den Möglichkeiten der Satzverschränkung und der Syntax von Fragen mit mehreren Frageausdrücken. Neben der Oberflächenform wird auch die kontextuelle und kommunikative Funktion der Strukturtypen berücksichtigt.

    Description: The Slovenian written language begins with the works of Primus Truber, so that it must be regarded as its creation - this, in short, would be the result of 200 years of research into the beginnings of Slovenian literacy. The purpose of this work is now to create a little more clarity here and at the same time to ask the question of Primus Trüber as the creator of the Slovenian written language on a different basis than before. Another question is, how did he, when he created one, come to his Slovenian written language?
    Description: Die slovenische Schriftsprache beginnt mit den Werken Primus Trubers, so daß sie als dessen Schöpfung angesehen werden muß - dies wäre, kurz gefaßt, das Ergebnis der inzwischen zweihundertjährigen Forschung, die sich mit den Anfängen der slovenischen Schriftsprachlichkeit befaßt. Anliegen dieser Arbeit ist nun, hier etwas mehr Klarheit zu schaffen und damit zugleich die Frage nach Primus Trüber als Schöpfer der slovenischen Schriftsprache auf einer anderen Grundlage als bisher zu stellen. Eine andere, Frage ist, wie er denn, so er eine solche geschaffen hat, zu seiner slovenischen Schriftsprache gekommen ist.

Geburtstag 2009 wird Hans-Dieter Döpmann, emeritierter Professor für Kirchengeschichte an der Theologischen Fakultät der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und Ehrenmitglied der Deutsch-Bulgarischen Gesellschaft e.V. geehrt. Hans-Dieter Döpmann hat zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Abhandlungen zur Geschichte der orthodoxen Kirchen, so 1996 den Sammelband "Religion und Gesellschaft in Südosteuropa" im Auftrag der Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft, 2006 "Kirche in Bulgarien von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart" und zuletzt 2010 eine umfassende Darstellung "Die orthodoxen Kirchen in Geschichte und Gegenwart" veröffentlicht. Mehrfach wurde er für seine wissenschaftlichen Verdienste geehrt, u.a. 2003 mit dem Patriarchalkreuz der Rumänischen Orthodoxen Kirche und 2008 mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz.

    Description: The first level of the present work is methodologically concerned with the planned Prague corpus of spoken Czech. Spoken texts are recorded, fixed in writing and arranged according to linguistic and sociological criteria and evaluated. The goal is to sketch the current situation in spoken Czech from the recordings and thus to contribute to the above-mentioned discussion about the relationship between ST vs. ST. GT. The second level of this study complements the evaluation of the linguistic material. Sociological data collected by questionnaires and data provided by the same speakers in the field of ST: 1) knowledge (cognition); 2) degree of positive evaluation; 3) but above all the readiness (Konation) of the speaker for use of the ST examined. The attitude of the Czechs to their standard language, secondary to their Koine, is here in the foreground. This publication makes an important contribution to the intensified discussions about Standard Czech and Common Czech (Bohemian Koiné) since the political change in the Czech Republic.
    Description: Die erste Ebene der vorliegenden Arbeit tangiert in methodischer Hinsicht das geplante Prager Korpus des gesprochenen Tschechisch. Gesprochene Texte werden aufgenommen, schriftlich fixiert und nach sprachlichen und soziologischen Kriterien geordnet und ausgewertet. Das Ziel ist es, anhand der Aufnahmen die aktuelle Situation im gesprochenen Tschechisch zu skizzieren und somit einen Beitrag zur oben geschilderten Diskussion um das Verhältnis ST vs. GT zu leisten. Die zweite Ebene dieser Studie komplementiert die Auswertung des sprachlichen Materials. Mit per Fragebögen erhobenen soziologischen Daten und Angaben derselben Sprecher werden im Bereich des ST: 1) Kenntnisse (Kognition); 2) Grad der positiven Evaluation; 3) vor allem aber die Bereitschaft (Konation) der Sprecher zur Verwendung des ST untersucht. Die Einstellung der Tschechen zu ihrer Standardsprache, sekundär zu ihrer Koine, steht hier im Vordergrund. Diese Publikation leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zu der seit der politischen Wende in Tschechien intensiviert geführten Diskussion um das Standardtschechische und Gemeintschechische (böhmische Koiné).

    Description: The subject of the present study is the word formation theory in one of the oldest grammars of the Russian language, the instruction in 1705-29 to learn the Slavonic-Russian language, "For the benefit, especially the Teutschen Nation, aufgesetze" by Johann Werner Pause. The "instruction" is a central text of the so-called "dolomonovskij period rusistiki", i. the leisure of grammatical codification of Russian before the appearance of the first Russian grammar printed for native speakers, the "Rossijskaja grammatika" (1755/57) M.V. Lomonosov.
    Description: Gegenstand der vorliegender Untersuchung ist die Wortbildungslehre in einer der ältesten Grammatiken der russischen Sprache, der in den Jahren 1705-29 entstandenen Anweisung zur Erlernung der Slavonisch-Russischen Sprache, "Zum Nutzen, sonderlich der Teutschen Nation, aufgesetze" von Johann Werner Pause.     Description: The aim of this book is to explain economic dualism in the history of modern Europe. The emergence of the manorial-serf economy in the Bohemia, Poland, and Hungary in the 16th and the 17th centuries was the result of a cumulative impact of various circumstantial factors. The weakness of cities in Central Europe disturbed the social balance – so characteristic for Western-European societies – between burghers and the nobility. The political dominance of the nobility hampered the development of cities and limited the influence of burghers, paving the way to the rise of serfdom and manorial farms. These processes were accompanied by increased demand for agricultural products in Western Europe

    The Balkan Conditional in South Slavic (2021)

    Description: This study examines the morphological and semantic development of the modal construction formed with either the imperfect of 'to want' (Croatian/Serbian) plus the infinitive, or with a modal particle from 'to want' (Macedonian) plus the imperfect of the main verb. The Balkan conditional is analyzed using material from diverse sources, including epic folk poetry, dialectal texts, and the standard literary language in the South Slavic languages, as well as in the Balkan non-Slavic languages of Greek, Albanian, Daco-Rumanian, Istro-Rumanian, and Arumanian. Specific syntactic and semantic contexts are analyzed, and the Balkan conditional is compared to other modal constructions in these languages. One of the characteristic analytic verbal forms shared by the languages of the Balkan league is the Balkan conditional or the so-called 'future-in-the-past'. In the majority of these languages, the Balkan conditional has the status of a grammatical category, whose invariant components are 'modality', specifically 'potentiality', and 'reference to past tense'. With such components, these expressions most frequently and naturally refer to actions which did not take place, i.e., the past, contrary-to-fact conditional.

    Description: By the second half of the 1940s, newly conquered nations of Central and Eastern Europe were expected to adjust multiple professions, including those related to the historical sciences, to the Soviet model. However, Marxism, soon to become the only acceptable methodology, was no longer understood in the same way as in Bolshevik Russia. Its Soviet variation borrowed heavily from the tradition of Russian historiography and the Russian national tradition. The variations formulated in the satellite countries were also less likely to break away from existing traditions than to revise and re-evaluate them, along with the perspectives on Russia’s role in the history of Central and Eastern Europe.

    Description: Anyone who deals more thoroughly with the syntax of the Croatian sentence will encounter the problems of enclitics. It will soon be obvious to the Croatian learner, but also to the linguist dealing with the Croatian, that a closer look at the specialist literature reveals that the use of enclitics is not clearly and unequivocally described. Where do the discrepancies in the representations of the enclitics come from? A fundamental assumption of the present study is that the research and discussion of enclitics, based on the construct of a 'Serbo-Croatian' language, did not do justice to the linguistic reality. To correct these omissions and to produce a more accurate and realistic picture of the positioning of enclitics in Croatian and Serbian in the 20th century, the extensive analysis of a text corpus seems sensible and necessary.
    Description: Jeder, der sich gründlicher mit der Syntax des kroatischen Satzes beschäftigt, wird auf die Problematik der Enklitika stoßen. Recht bald wird nämlich der das Kroatische Erlernende, aber auch der sich mit dem Kroatischen auseinandersetzende Sprachwissenschaftler bei einem genaueren Blick in die Fachliteratur bemerken, daß die Verwendung der Enklitika nicht klar und eindeutig beschrieben wird. Woher rühren nun die Diskrepanzen in den Darstellungen zu den Enklitika? Eine grundlegende Annahme der vorliegenden Untersuchung ist, daß die Forschungsarbeiten und Erörterungen der Enklitika, ausgehend von dem Konstrukt einer 'serbokroatischen' Sprache, nicht der sprachlichen Realität gerecht wurden. Um diese Versäumnisse zu korrigieren und ein genaueres und wirklichkeitsgetreues Abbild der Positionierung der Enklitika im Kroatischen und im Serbischen des 20. Jh. zu erstellen, scheint die umfangreiche Analyse eines Textkorpus sinnvoll und notwendig.

    Description: European culture has been greatly influenced by the Christian Church and Greek and Roman culture. However, the peoples of Europe’s remote past, whom the Greeks, Romans, and their medieval heirs called the «barbarians», also left their mark. Closely examining ancient and medieval narratives and the codifications of laws, this thoughtfully conducted comparative study sheds light on the illiterate societies of the early Germanic and Slavic peoples. The picture that emerges is one of communities built on kinship, neighborly, and tribal relations, where decision making, judgement, and punishment were carried out collectively, and the distinction between the sacred and profane was unknown.

    Description: The basis of this work is a corpus of approximately 1300 sample sentences, mostly taken from literary sources (mainly: Amfiteatrov, Bulgakov, Čechov, Dostoevskij, Il'f / Petrov, Grin, Rybakov, Zoščenko, etc.). Furthermore, comics were evaluated, since I assumed that they can be found more colloquialisms, but their frequency is higher in "Mickey Mouse" than "Tim and Struppi". In addition, journalistic texts (Argumenty i fakty, Literaturnaja Gazeta, Krokodil, Ogonek) and the texts of Russkaja razgovornaja reč (1978) were used.
    Description: Grundlage dieser Arbeit bildet ein Korpus von ungefähr 1300 Beispielsätzen, die zumeist literarischen Quellen entnommen wurden (hauptsächlich: Amfiteatrov, Bulgakov, Čechov, Dostoevskij, Il'f/Petrov, Grin, Rybakov, Zoščenko u.a.).     Description: In the present work it is next to the actual goal, i. the determination of the collective symbols, the determination of their hierarchy and semantization, and also a test of the method itself. What services does the method perform, how powerful is it when it comes to determining a complex and complicated object of culture in its form and function , In order to enable comparisons specific to individual cultures, the study was also carried out for Polish and German culture (see Fleischer 1995 and 1996). The entire analysis is in the context of the system-theoretical cultural theory established by the author in 1989 (Fleischer 1989 and 1994), whose examination represents the analysis. It is therefore a theory-based, system-theoretical-constructivist work, which is to examine the hypotheses and the predictions of the theory.
    Description: In der vorliegenden Arbeit geht es neben dem eigentlichen Ziel, d.h. der Ermittlung der Kollektivsymbole, der Bestimmung ihrer Hierarchie und Semantisierung, auch um einen Test der Methode selbst. Welche Dienste leistet die Methode, wie leistungsfähig ist sie, wenn es darum geht, ein komplexes und kompliziertes Objekt der Kultur in seiner Ausprägung und Funktionsweise zu bestimmen. Um einzelkulturspezifische Vergleiche zu ermöglichen, wurde die Untersuchung auch für die polnische und die deutsche Kultur durchgeführt (siehe Fleischer 1995 und 1996). Die gesamte Analyse steht im Zusammenhang der vom Autor 1989 aufgestellten systemtheoretischen Kulturtheorie (Fleischer 1989 und 1994), deren Prüfung die Analyse darstellt. Es handelt sich also um eine theoriegeleitete, systemtheoretisch- konstruktivistische Arbeit, die die Hypothesen und die Voraussagen der Theorie prüfen soll.

    Description: With the present publication on the aspeclual reference moment, the author returns to a problem that occupied the science more than three decades ago (Schlegel 1970, 1971, Scheljakin / Schlegel 1970) and has not let go since then. At that time it was a matter of a special aspect theory that would reduce the functioning of the Russian aspect to a simple principle and make the non-Slavic foreign language teacher understand it, but in the meantime it has entered into a general aspect theory - supplemented by a theory of terminativity / terminarity (T. / AT), embedded in a theory of aspectuality (Schlegel 1999 [1977]). Since the first elaborations, the field of vision has widened, the reference moment has been used (...) as a "point of reference", as a "viewing time", as a "psychic now" in the description of languages ​​other than Russian. The theory of the reference moment has a great explanatory potential for foreign language teaching in advanced learners.
    Description: Mit der vorliegenden Publikation zum aspeklualen Bezugsmoment kehrt der Autor zu einer Problematik zurück, die die Wissenschaftel bereits vor mehr als drei Jahrzehnten beschäftigt (Schlegel 1970; 1971, Scheljakin / Schlegel 1970) und seither nicht losgelassen hat. Ging es damals um eine spezielle Aspekttheorie, die das Funktionieren des russischen Aspekts auf ein einfaches Prinzip zurückführen und dem nichtslawischen Fremdsprachenlehrer einsichtig machen sollte, so ist diese in der Zwischenzeit in eine allgemeine Aspekttheorie eingegangen - ist ergänzt durch eine Theorie der Terminativität/Aterminativität (T/AT), eingebettet in eine Theorie der Aspektualität (Schlegel 1999 [1977]). Seit den ersten Ausarbeitungen hat sich das Gesichtsfeld erweitert, der Bezugsmoment ist (...) als "point of reference", als "Betrachtzeit", als "Psychisches Jetzt" in der Beschreibung anderer Sprachen als des Russischen genutzt worden. Die Theorie des Bezugsmoments weist ein großes explanatorisches Potential für den Fremdsprachenunterricht bei fortgeschrittenen Lernern auf.

    Strain and stress fields in the Southern Apennines (Italy) constrained by geodetic, seismological and borehole data (2012)

    Description: We present an improved evaluation of the current strain and stress fields in Southern Apennines (Italy) obtained through a careful analysis of geodetic, seismological and borehole data. In particular, our analysis provides an updated comparison between the accrued strain recorded by geodetic data, and the strain released by seismic activity in a region hit by destructive historical earthquakes. To this end, we have used 9 years of GPS observations (2001-2010) from a dense network of permanent stations, a dataset of 73 well constrained stress indicators (borehole breakouts and focal mechanisms of moderate to large earthquakes), and published estimations of the geological strain accommodated by active faults in the region. Although geodetic data are generally consistent with seismic and geologic information, previously unknown features of the current deformation in southern Italy emerge from this analysis. The newly obtained GPS velocity field supports the well-established notion of a dominant NE-SW-oriented extension concentrated in a ~50 km wide belt along the topographic relief of the Apennines, as outlined by the distribution of seismogenic normal faults. Geodetic deformation is, however, non uniform along the belt, with two patches of higher strain-rate and shear stress accumulation in the north (Matese Mountains) and in the south (Irpinia area). Low geodetic strain-rates are found in the Bradano basin and Apulia plateau to the east. Along the Ionian Sea margin of southern Italy, in southern Apulia and eastern Basilicata and Calabria, geodetic velocities indicate NW-SE extension which is consistent with active shallow-crustal gravitational motion documented by geological studies. In the west, along the Tyrrhenian margin of the Campania region, the tectonic geodetic field is disturbed by volcanic processes. Comparison between the magnitude of the geodetic and the seismic strain-rates (computed using a long historical seismicity catalogue) allow detecting areas of high correlation, particularly along the axis of the mountain chain, indicating that most of the geodetic strain is released by earthquakes. This relation does not hold for the instrumental seismic catalogue, as a consequence of the limited time span covered by instrumental data. In other areas (e.g. Murge plateau in central Apulia), where seismicity is very low or absent, the yet appreciable geodetic deformation might be accommodated in aseismic mode. Overall, the excellent match between the stress and the strain-rate directions in much of the Apennines indicates that both earthquakes and ground deformation patterns are driven by the same crustal forces.

    Description: We present a new crustal model for the European plate, derived from collection and critical integration of information selected from the literature. The model covers the whole European plate from North Africa to the North Pole (20N - 90N) and from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge to the Urals (40W - 70E). The chosen parameterization represents the crust in three layers (sediments, upper crust and lower crust), and describes the 3D geometry of the interfaces and seismologically-relevant parameters — isotropic P- and S-wave velocity, plus density — with a resolution of 0.5 × 0.5 degrees on a geographical latitude-longitude grid. We selected global and local models, derived from geological assumptions, active seismic experiments, surface-wave studies, noise correlation, receiver functions. Model EPcrust presents significant advantages with respect to previous models: it covers the whole European plate; it is a complete and internally-consistent model (with all the parameters provided, also for the sedimentary layer); it is reproducible; it is easy to update in the future by adding new contributions; and it is available in a convenient digital format. EPcrust could be used to account for crustal structure in seismic wave propagation modeling at continental scale or to compute linearized crustal corrections in continental-scale seismic tomography, gravity studies, dynamic topography and other applications that require a reliable crustal structure. Because of its resolution, our model is not suited for local-scale studies, such as the computation of earthquake scenarios, where more detailed knowledge of the structure is required. We plan to update the model as new data will become available, and possibly improve its resolution for selected areas in the future.
