Description: Construction industry is suffering from low productivity rate in various projects such as excavation. Although this issue is discussed in literature and several approaches are proposed to address it, productivity rate is still low in construction industry compared to other domains like manufacturing. A gamified platform in which different operators from different organizations can share their achievements, or can get scored and ranked in a leader-board will potentially address this issue.

Description: Digitalization has already transformed many areas of the economy and social life. Aspects of healthcare and clinical practice are also undergoing digital transformation. In light of these developments, this dissertation sheds light on the acquisition, representation, and use of process knowledge in the context of hybrid AI methods. The central contribution is the structure-preserving back-and-forth transformation of process trees to process plans.

Description: The work deals with the iconography of the atom from the euphoria about nuclear technology of the 1950s to the anti-nuclear movement of the 1970s in the Federal Republic of Germany. Using the life and work of the German architect and graphic designer Rolf Lederbogen as an example, the socio-political dimension of nuclear technology in communication and visualisation of the narrative "Atoms for Peace" is put in context with the history of technical thinking in architecture and design.

Description: In this work, the authors analysed the co-dependency between models and analyses, particularly the structure and interdependence of artefacts and the feature-based decomposition and composition of model-based analyses. Their goal is to improve the maintainability of model-based analyses. They have investigated the co-dependency of Domain-specific Modelling Languages (DSMLs) and model-based analyses regarding evolvability, understandability, and reusability.

Description: The simulation of ceramic phosphors by means of the diffusion approximation of the radiation transport equation is extended from rotationally symmetrical cases to general, three-dimensional problems. The phosphor is simulated with the diffusion approximation for a temporal and spacial variable laser light source for the first time. Therefore, different laser light sources are being compared to evaluate, which one of the alternatives is best suited for the intended use in an automotive head lamp.

Description: This book proposes a novel deep learning based detection method, focusing on vehicle detection in aerial imagery recorded in top view. The base detection framework is extended by two novel components to improve the detection accuracy by enhancing the contextual and semantical content of the employed feature representation. To reduce the inference time, a lightweight CNN architecture is proposed as base architecture and a novel module that restricts the search area is introduced.

Description: Shape memory alloys (SMAs) have special property of the shape memory effect. After thermal treatment above the martensitic transition temperature, the alloys come back to the original shape when the alloys heat again after having cooled it to the temperature that is lower than the martensitic transition temperature. By means of this property, many industrial parts and systems were produced. This Special Issue "Shape Memory Alloys 2017" is constructed articles reporting new and progressive research results, as well as reviews of particular classes of fundamental physics of the materials and their applications of SMAs. Through its 17 efficient articles, the reader will approach to researches related to SMAs with their peculiar magnetic, thermo-mechanical properties, superelasticity, plastic deformation and compression under pressure. These physical properties introduce a large number of applications as faster SMA actuators, application of medical devices, industrial joining parts, volts, and magnetic/mechanical/thermal sensors. These articles are intended scientific researchers, professional engineers, students to obtain a better understanding in this field lately.

Description: Almost all possible effects of stretching training are operationalized in connection with the extension of the range of motion. In contrast, stress-associated adaptations are rarely discussed. This means that there is a lack of differentiation for stretch training under salutogenic, therapeutic or performance-physiological goals. In the present study frequently asked questions on the methodology of stretching are answered according to a fact check in comparison with relevant specialist areas.
