Description: The health and wellbeing of people and the planet is currently receiving a much attention, if only because of the ongoing global crisis instigated by COVID-19. The benefits of nature for human wellbeing have been scientifically studied in multiple disciplines for over three decades. Researchers from disciplines such as ecology, sport science, psychology, tourism, medicine, forestry, environmental studies and architecture have found evidence that being in nature, interacting with nature, and feeling connected to nature are important for good health and wellbeing. In particular, physical activity in nature has been linked to wellbeing. This manuscript explores a particular type of physical activity in nature: adventure and outdoor activity. Adventure in nature is important for wellbeing, and carefully designed interventions and programs can have a profound impact. The work in this book suggests that adventure should be considered an important part of the public health offering.

Description: Physical activity, nutritional status, and fitness are important predictors of public health and the well-being of society as a whole. They influence the preparedness to perform official duties and tasks in some professional specialties. They are also important factors leading to success in professional sport and sport for all. This supplement to the Special Issue "Physical activity, nutritional status and physical fitness" consists of articles on two main thematic fields. The first field is a series of articles in which Polish soldiers, policemen, and border guards were the research subjects. The research issues concerned the determination of the level of physical activity, problems related to overweight and obesity, adherence to dietary recommendations, and the determination of energy expenditure. The authors assessed the state of a given variable and examined the relationships between individual variables in order to find the regularities on the basis of which it was possible to develop recommendations for soldiers and officers and their superiors (makers). The presented works were carried out as part of a research project of the National Health Program. The second thematic field concerns the physical activity, nutritional status, and fitness of the general public. Interesting topics that were discussed include the index for diet assessment, the influences of some genes on obesity, and the effect of modified training based on the principles of CrossFit on the development of general physical fitness in a group of kickboxers. The study also includes a paper on a new physical fitness test (ACFT) in the US Army.

Description: This book comprises a collection of empirical and theoretical studies covering a wide range of themes related to bank management, finance and sustainability. Sustainability represents an opportunity for banks as it contributes to improvements in trust in the banking system. However, sustainable business models must be financially viable so that they can have a positive impact on banks’ profitability, stimulating the long-term growth and resilience of the banking industry and overall financial stability.Banks are widely acknowledged as playing a crucial role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as they can promote responsible investments and integrate environmental and social criteria into lending and investment strategies. Financial intermediaries can support projects and activities that create a measurable positive economic, social and environmental impact by providing easier access to capital. Furthermore, they can have an active role in improving the financial awareness, inclusion and resilience of the most vulnerable individuals in society.

Description: Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness has been a successful Special Issue, which addressed novel topics in any subject related to sports medicine, physical fitness, and human movement. The article collection was able to positively evaluate three systematic reviews, nineteen original articles, and one brief report. These encompassed a broad range of topics ranging from accident kinematics, soccer monitoring, children’s physical evaluation, adapted physical activity, physical evaluation for people with intellectual disabilities, performance analysis in rowers, ultramarathon racers, karateka’s, rugby players, volleyball and basketball players, and cross-fit athletes, and also aspects related to biomechanics, fatigue and injury prevention in racing motorcycle riders, gymnasts, and cyclists. These scientific contributions within the field of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness broaden the understanding of specific aspects of each analyzed discipline. It has been a pleasure for the Editorial Team to have served the International Journal Of Environmental Research and Public Health.

Description: The existence of financial intermediaries is arguably an artifact of information asymmetry. Beyond simple financial transactions, financial intermediation provides a mechanism for information transmission, which can reduce the degree of information asymmetry and consequently increase market efficiency. During the process of information transmission, the bank is able to provide unique services in the production and exchange of information. Therefore, banks have comparative advantages in information production, transmission, and utilisation. This book provides an overview of commercial banking and includes empirical methods in banking such risk and bank performance, capital regulation, bank competition and foreign bank entry, bank regulation on bank performance, and capital adequacy and deposit insurance.
