Description: An instrument has been built to carry out continuous in-situ measurement of small differences in water pressure, conductivity and temperature, in natural surface water and groundwater systems. A low-cost data telemetry system provides data on shore in real time if desired. The immediate purpose of measurements by this device is to continuously infer fluxes of water across the sediment-water interface in a complex estuarine system; however, direct application to assessment of sediment-water fluxes in rivers, lakes, and other systems is also possible. Key objectives of the design include both low cost, and accuracy of the order of ±0.5 mm H2O in measured head difference between the instrument’s two pressure ports. These objectives have been met, although a revision to the design of one component was found to be necessary. Deployments of up to nine months, and wireless range in excess of 300 m have been demonstrated.

Description: The authors consider the hydrochemical condition of the Karpovsky Pond, one of the artificial reservoirs in Kaliningrad. The conclusions given in the work are based on the data of the monitoring conducted by the authors themselves. Seasonal dynamics of seven studied hydrochemical and hydrological indicators are described. The paper provides a general description of the pond and assumptions about the objects of possible negative impact.

Description: The work is based on the data from estuary field observations conducted on the rivers of the northwestern part of the Kaliningrad Region (the Medvezhya River, the Aleika River, the Zabava River) in summer of 2018. The paper presents general hydrochemical and hydrological characteristics of watercourses; special attention is paid to hydrochemical indicators, which allow evaluating the ecological status of small rivers.

Description: Possible scenarios are given for the formation of the continental runoff and the salinity of the Azov Sea, taking into account the current and future trends in climate change. Short-term forecast are suggested for the changes in the primary production of organic matter and pollution by priority toxicants in the Azov Sea. Specific features of photometric determination of organic carbon in bottom sediments are presented. Exploitable resources of commercial invertebrates in the Azov Sea and the dynamics of their exploitation in 2000–2022 are considered. The Azov Sea populations of sturgeon fish species as a part of monitoring the catches by stationary fishing gears along the Kuban coast are investigated. Morphological characteristics and biological features of Smith's barb Puntioplites proctozystron (Bleeker, 1865) in the Mekong River Delta are studied. Artificial reproduction of semi-anadromous fish species under different development scenarios of hydrological situation in the Azov Sea is analysed. Release of juvenile sturgeons in the Azov–Kuban region by sturgeon hatcheries of the Federal Agency for Fishery in 2016–2022 is reported.
