    Description: Music plays an important role in many religions and in a variety of religious contexts. Music and Religion: Texts on Music in Religion and Religion in Music takes a look at the intersections between music and religion. We experience religion in music, and in religion we encounter musical expression. Although music and religion are unquestionably mutually pervasive, we can also come across gaps between them: Is it possible to move beyond a musical experience toward a religious one without having to hop over this gap? And is there any direct route from religion into music as an acoustic phenomenon? Without a religious interpretation of the music remaining? There is a wealth of research about music and religion, but little on how they meet. That is what this anthology seeks to remedy. Music and Religion will be relevant for anyone with an interest in encounters between these two phenomena. It will be especially relevant for students in performing, composing and scientific music education, as well as theology and religious studies. The anthology has been edited by Henrik Holm (associate professor in education at Oslo Metropolitan University and professor in philosophy at Rudolf Steiner University College) and Øivind Varkøy (professor in music education and music sciences at the Norwegian Academy of Music and professor II in music at Oslo Metropolitan University).
    Description: Musikk spiller en stor rolle i ulike religioner og ulike religiøse sammenhenger. Musikk og religion: Tekster om musikk i religion og religion i musikk setter søkelyset på møtepunkter mellom musikk og religion. Mennesker erfarer religion i musikken, og i religionen møter mennesket i musikalske uttrykk. Selv om musikk og religion utvilsomt gjennomtrenger hverandre, kan vi også støte på gap mellom dem: Er det mulig å overskride en musikalsk erfaring henimot det religiøse uten å måtte hoppe over dette gapet? Og finnes det en vei fra religionen direkte inn i musikken som klangfenomen? Forblir det ikke bare en religiøs fortolkning av musikk? Det finnes mye forskning på musikk og religion, men lite om hvordan de møtes. Denne antologien forsøker å gjøre noe med dette. Musikk og religion retter seg mot alle med interesse for møter mellom disse to livsfenomener. Den vil være særlig aktuell for studenter innenfor utøvende, skapende og vitenskapelige musikkutdanninger, teologi og religionsvitenskap. Boken er redigert av Henrik Holm (førsteamanuensis i pedagogikk, OsloMet, og professor i filosofi, Steinerhøyskolen), og Øivind Varkøy (professor i musikkpedagogikk og musikkvitenskap, Norges musikkhøgskole, og professor II i musikk, OsloMet).

All the authors are eminent experts of their scholarly fields, and all the articles have been revised by the Academic representatives of the Sámi themselves

    Description: Fordommer sitter i språket og i måten vi snakker på. De kommer til uttrykk på forskjellige måter og kan brukes både som humor og hatefulle ytringer. Ofte bruker vi fordommer uten at vi engang er klar over det. Men hva er egentlig fordommer? Og hvem rammes av fordommene? Dette er relevante spørsmål i dagens skole. I Fagfornyelsen legges det vekt på at skolen «skal fremme demokratiske verdier og holdninger som motvekt mot fordommer og diskriminering». For å kunne jobbe aktivt med forebyggende arbeid i skolen er det derfor nødvendig å vite noe om hvordan og hvorfor fordommer oppstår, hvordan de brukes, og hvem som rammes. I Fordommer i skolen: Gruppekonstruksjoner, utenforskap og inkludering undersøker vi hvordan fordommer kommer til uttrykk blant elever, hvilke strategier lærere har for å håndtere fordomsfulle utsagn, og hvordan fordommer brukes og spilles ut i klasserommet. I boken analyseres også hvordan fordommer og ulike forståelser av fenomenet inngår som tema i opplæringsloven og i læreplanverket, og hvordan ulike minoritetsgrupper har blitt og fremdeles blir fremstilt i skolens læreverk. Et viktig formål med boken er å gi konkrete eksempler på utforskende undervisning og mulige undervisningsstrategier for å kunne forebygge og motvirke fordommer i skolen i dag. Boken er forskningsbasert og inneholder bidrag fra en rekke ulike fagfelt. Bidragene er relevante for lærerutdanning, lektorutdanning og PPU. Boken er også aktuell for skoleledere, rådgivere og lærere både i ungdomsskolen og på videregående trinn.

    Description: Mechthild of Hackeborn represents medieval mysticism. Her Revelations were written down in the 1290s in Helfta, Germany. The oldest surviving versions are in Latin, but in the Middle Ages, the Revelations were translated at least into Dutch, English, Swedish, and German. The text was translated into Swedish in 1469 by Jöns Budde, a Bridgettine brother from Naantali. Budde made few omissions but many additions in the text, mainly explanations to meet the needs of the Bridgettine sisters. Budde’s translation is faithful to the original text, and he made few mistakes. My Finnish translation of the text follows Budde’s version where possible. However, Budde translated an abridged version that omitted some chapters, and the only surviving copy of Budde’s translation is incomplete. I have therefore translated the missing sections from Latin and incorporated them in the text. My translation also includes editorial comments on the language, the contents, and the historical and theological contexts of the Revelations.

    Description: "The development and spread of self-help groups in Norway has been unlike that in other western countries. Public authorities, in collaboration with private sector volunteer resources, have created a national hybrid organization, Self-Help Norway (Selvhjelp Norge), to promote ‘self-help’ options. The introduction of combined groups, in which participants come together with a range of different problems or diagnoses, is also unusual. This book takes a closer look at the phenomenon of self-help in light of theories relating to group therapy, social movements, organizational sociology and welfare-state development. The individual chapters are based on the authors’ own research on self-help groups and the way they are organized in Norway. Our underlying point of departure is that self-help is in fact something quite different from the common public perception of a self-absorbed and ‘narcissistic’ activity that occurs at the expense of the community. Self-help groups have, rightly so, a focus on individual change and have recently gained a stronger psychological orientation. There is however a need for describing and analyzing the self-help group’s collective dimension, the reciprocal form of self-help that takes place in the context of the group. We analyze as well the growth of what we have called ‘the new self-help movement’ in the border zone between public and private sector and show how self-help has been established in various local societies as a form of social entrepreneurship. The movement’s breakthrough with the public sector is internationally unique, but it can also have come at a cost in the form of less legitimacy and relevance for the other self-help organizations. We pose questions about where these developments will lead."
    Description: "Utviklingen og utbredelsen av selvhjelpsgrupper i Norge skiller seg fra andre vestlige land. Myndighetene har sammen med frivillige krefter i sivilsamfunnet dannet en landsomfattende hybrid organisasjon (Selvhjelp Norge) for å fremme «selvhjelpssaken». Det er også spesielt at man har introdusert en arbeidsform med sammensatte grupper der deltakere kommer sammen på tvers av problemtyper eller diagnoser. Denne boken ser nærmere på fenomenet selvhjelp i lys av teorier om gruppeterapi, sosiale bevegelser, organisasjonssosiologi og velferdsstatsutvikling. De ulike kapitlene er basert på forfatternes egen forskning på selvhjelpsgrupper og måten de er organisert på i norsk sammenheng. Vårt utgangspunkt er at selvhjelpsgrupper er noe annet enn hva «selvhjelp» ofte fremstilles som i offentlige debatt, som en selvopptatt og «narsissistisk» aktivitet som skjer på bekostning av fellesskapet. Selvhjelpsgruppene har riktignok et fokus på individuell endring og har i den senere tid fått en sterkere psykologisk orientering. Det er imidlertid et behov for å beskrive og analysere selvhjelpgruppens kollektive dimensjon, den gjensidige formen for selvhjelp som skjer i gruppekonteksten. Vi analyserer også det vi har kalt «den nye selvhjelpsbevegelsens» fremvekst i et grenseland mellom stat og sivilsamfunn og viser hvordan selvhjelpsarbeid har blitt etablert i ulike lokalsamfunn som en form for sosialt entreprenørskap. Bevegelsens gjennomslag hos staten er internasjonalt unikt, men det kan også ha hatt en kostnadsside i form av mindre legitimitet og relevans hos de andre selvhjelpsorganisasjonene. Vi stiller spørsmål om hvor utviklingen går videre."

But what exactly do we mean by civil drones, and how can we best ensure that they are used responsibly in society? That is the main question to be discussed in this book. Drones in Civil Society elucidates the topic from many different perspectives. Who are the various actors involved, and how do they work together? What are the differences between civil and military uses of drones? How do we differentiate between the hobby pilot and the professional drone operator, and how can students be trained in responsible, experimental investigation of drone technology?     Description: Erling Kristvik (1882-1969) was a central figure in the Norwegian educational system in the 20th century. He was known for being the principle of Volda University College from 1930, as well as a writer of textbooks for teacher education. This book centers around Kristviks authorship, focusing on a manuscript many thought to be lost: Folkelære. Pedagogisk sosiologi, written in the 1940s and the key point of analysis in this book, was never published.
    Description: "Erling Kristvik (1882–1969) var en av Norges mest sentrale «skolemenn» på 1900-tallet. Han var særlig kjent som rektor ved Volda lærarskule fra 1930, en stilling han hadde fram til julaften 1941 da NS-myndighetene stengte skolen. Som lærebokforfatter kom han til å prege en hel generasjon lærere, og lærebøkene hans var lenge det dominerende pensum ved nesten alle landets lærerskoler. Han var en ivrig debattant, taler og foredragsholder, og skreiv en lang rekke pedagogiske og sosiologiske artikler. Denne boka drøfter sentrale sider ved Kristviks forfatterskap. En sentral tekst her er et manus som lenge har vært antatt tapt, men som nå er gjenfunnet: Folkelære. Pedagogisk sosiologi. Dette skulle utgjøre sluttsteinen i Kristviks pedagogiske forfatterskap, men det blei aldri utgitt. Kristviks arbeid med dette manuset gikk parallelt med at han nærmest lå i brevkrig med NS-myndighetene. Volda lærarskule blei sett som et «motstandsreir», og denne motstanden mot nazifisering førte til at skolen blei stengt, og Kristvik sjøl arrestert. Folkelære blir lest i lys av den argumentasjonen han samtidig førte for å hindre stenging. Enkelte formuleringer her skapte problem for han etter krigen. Men hans «forklaring» fikk brei støtte og blei akseptert av departementet."

    Description: "This scholarly monograph is based on a doctoral dissertation, On Holding Part of a Child’s Life in One’s Hands. Conversations between Professionals and Children with Mentally Ill or Substance Addicted Parents: An Ethical and Narrative Perspective, the subject of which is children’s participation in group therapy discussions for children whose parents are mentally ill or substance users. The book builds on experiences from participant observation in seven different groups and follow-up conversations with the participating children and the professionals who lead the groups. The objective was to investigate the possibilities children have in such groups for being independent subjects in search of and making sense. The issue is: How are a child’s experiences handled in discussion groups for children of mentally ill or substance addicted parents? The book’s scientific anchor is in expository hermeneutics, which underpins the emphasis on the significance of balance and reciprocity in interactions between the children and the professionals who lead the groups. In this connection, exploring in concrete situations how the group leader created space for the individual child’s perspective by putting his/her own perspectives into play (or by not doing so) is central. Expository hermeneutics also makes possible identifying some of what is not put into words, barely mentioned or implied, in interactions between the professional and the child, but which nonetheless may have considerable bearing on the understanding that is formed. The experiences and observations from the discussion groups are conveyed via nine stories detailing specific conversations and activities in which the children conveyed their experiences, thoughts and feelings, without them becoming further topics in the group work. Through interpretation of these stories a perception emerges of group conversation for children with mentally ill or addicted parents as being a practice in which the child’s own experience of their parent’s illness or dependency is only to a limited degree made an issue. Through a theoretical discussion in which what has transpired in the group interactions is elevated to a more generally insightful level, a deeper understanding of this phenomenon is sought."
    Description: Dette er en vitenskapelig monografi basert på avhandlingen Om å holde noe av et barns liv i sin hånd. Samtaler mellom profesjonelle og barn som har psykisk syke eller rusavhengige foreldre: et etisk og narrativt perspektiv. Tema er barns deltakelse i samtalegrupper for barn som har psykisk syke eller rusavhengige foreldre. Boken bygger på erfaringer fra deltakende observasjon i sju forskjellige samtalegrupper samt oppfølgende samtaler med barna som deltok og de profesjonelle som ledet gruppene. Formålet har vært å undersøke hvilke muligheter barn i samtalegrupper får til å stå fram som selvstendige meningssøkende og meningsskapende subjekter. Problemstilling er: Hvordan blir barns erfaringer håndtert i samtalegrupper for barn som har psykisk syke eller rusavhengige foreldre? Boken er gitt en vitenskapsfilosofisk forankring i en avdekkende hermeneutikk. Dette har lagt føringer for å vektlegge betydningen av det likeverdige og gjensidige i samhandlingene mellom de deltakende barna og de profesjonelle som har ledet samtalegruppene. I den forbindelse er det sentralt å utforske hvordan de profesjonelle, i konkrete samhandlingssituasjoner, skaper rom for det enkelte barns perspektiv ved å sette sine egne perspektiver i spill, og hvordan de ikke gjør det. Den avdekkende hermeneutikken har også gjort det mulig å identifisere noe av det som ikke ble satt ord på, eller som bare så vidt ble antydet eller nevnt, i samhandlingene mellom de profesjonelle og barna, men som likevel kan ha hatt stor betydning for den meningen som ble dannet. Erfaringene og observasjonene fra samtalegruppene er formidlet gjennom ni fortellinger. Disse beskriver konkrete samtaler og aktiviteter der barn formidler egne erfaringer, tanker og følelser, uten at disse blir gjort til videre tema i samhandlingen. Gjennom fortolkning av disse fortellingene kommer det fram en forståelse av at samtalegrupper for barn med psykisk syke eller rusavhengige foreldre synes å være en praksis der barns egne erfaringer av foreldrenes psykiske sykdommer og rusavhengighet i begrenset grad blir gjort til tema. Gjennom en teoretisk diskusjon der det som har foregått i de partikulære samhandlingssituasjonene, blir løftet opp på et mer generelt meningsbærende nivå, er det søkt en dypere forståelse for dette fenomenet.
