Description: "The Politics of Trauma and Integrity uses the lenses of gender and trauma to tell the stories of narratives testified by two contrasting Japanese “comfort women” survivors. Through an innovative interdisciplinary study of the politics of gendered memory and trauma in historical context, with numerous primary sources for analysis including diaries, interviews, letters and oral testimonies, this book uncovers the life-or-death struggles of Japanese survivors in pursuit of public recognition as the victims of state violence against women. It is set within a gender history of modern Japan, supplemented by feminist activist methodology premised upon political agency that seeks social justice. The author’s analysis draws upon three key concepts: trauma, coherence of the self, and integrity. Focusing upon the role of gender and trauma as the nexus between memory construction and identity formation in modern Japan, the author reveals these women’s relentless quest for their recovery and creation of new identities. Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. The first part of the book contains chapters about the general history of school textbooks for reading and the story of the heritage of two authors (Vyazemsky and Fet) in them. The second part of the book presents chapters on various Russian poets (Batyushkov, Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Koltsov, Tyutchev, Maikov) whose poems found a firm place in the reading materials for schools. The chapters of the monograph give an idea of different aspects of the history of these texts and their reception. The monograph has two supplements. In the first there is a list of 108 textbooks and books of reading which are all included in the unique data base accessible in the Internet (www.ruthenia.ru/canon). The second supplement offers a list of the most popular authors and their texts included in the textbooks of the 19th century.

Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. This issue of the subseries “Blokovskii sbornik” continues the series of studies started by Zara Mints in 1964. The majority of works from Section I of the book, “The Art of А. Blok in the Context of 19th–20th Century Literature,” is devoted to the study of the poet’s works, his perceptions of preceding writers’ works, and his biographical and artistic contacts with contemporaries. The articles in Section II, “Silver Age Literature: Creative and Social Strategies,” are mainly focused on artistic works and essays of modernist literati contemporary to Blok or to some extent resonating with his poetry and artistic worldview.

Description: The aim of the methodology is to give an understanding of elder abuse, typologies, manifestations, risks of occurrence and procedures for detection and solution. The methodology helps those who regularly come into contact with older people to put knowledge about elder abuse into practice. This can be anyone who is not, or should not be, indifferent to seeing an older person treated inappropriately. The methodology is primarily intended for people working in support services, with recommendations for other relevant actors such as general practitioners and specialists, the police, the social services of local authorities, etc. However, it can also be used by interested members of the public and by non-profit organisations, which also have an essential role to play in dealing with this phenomenon. The procedures and recommendations presented here are based on the research activities of the RESTABUS project, which draw on the findings of other research teams from all over the world and from a wide range of scientific disciplines, as well as on many years of experience in working with older people.

Description: Geçmişte yaşanan iklim değişikliklerinin nedenlerinin ve etkilerinin anlaşılması, insanoğlunun gelecekte karşılaşacağı çevresel değişiklikleri önceden tahmin etmesi ve önlemler alması açısından önem arz etmektedir. İnsanın yeryüzündeki varlık süresince, yani Kuvaterner’de yaşanan iklim değişiklikleri, buzul ve buzularası çağlarının yaşanmasına yol açarak, yer küreyi ve üzerinde yaşayan canlıların hayatını şekillendirmiştir. Ülkemiz de Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının etkisinde kalmış ve Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerindeki yüksek alanlarda gelişen buzulların bazıları günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. İklim değişikliği etkisiyle ortadan kalkan buzulların oluşturduğu yer şekilleri ise çoğu sahada korunmuştur. Anadolu’daki buzullaşmalar ve bunlara ait yer şekilleri araştırmacılar tarafından sıklıkla çalışılmış olmakla birlikte morfometrik analizler sınırlı sayıda araştırmada uygulanabilmiştir. Buzul morfometrisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar son buzul çağının etkilerini daha net anlaşılmamıza imkân tanımaktadır. Bu araştırma kitabı ile Batı Torosların doğu ucunda yer alan ve daha önce literatürde geçmeyen Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının izlerinin yaygın bir şekilde gördüğümüz Kuşak Dağı’nın jeomorfolojik özelliklerini arazi çalışmaları ve İHA verileri kullanarak haritalamak, ayrıca morfometrik analizlerle Kuşak Dağı ve Batı Toroslar hakkında paleoiklimsel değerlendirmelerde bulunmak hedeflenmiştir. Yine bu kitapta buzul jeomorfolojisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar ayrıntılı açıklanmaya çalışılarak bu konularda çalışacak genç araştırmacılar için Türkçe kaynak kitabı olması amaçlanmıştır.

Description: Göl, akarsu ve denizler yüzyılları aşan süreden beri çoğunluğu insan kaynaklı olmak üzere çeşitli kirleticilerin baskısı altında bulunmaktadırlar. Özellikle endüstriyel üretimin hız kazandığı 1900’lü yılların ortalarından itibaren bu baskılar daha da artmış birçok su kaynağı kullanılamaz hale gelmiştir. Su kalitesindeki bozulmalar ve iklimsel değişim nedeniyle çok sayıda tür ortadan kalkmış, ya da tükenme noktasına gelmiştir. Ülkemizde de benzer çevresel sorunlar 1950’li yıllardan itibaren görülmeye başlanmıştır. Başta sanayi üretiminin büyük bir kısmının gerçekleştiği Marmara Bölgesindeki deniz ve içsu kaynakları olmak üzere birçok su kaynağı sanayi atıkları, evsel atıklar ve tarımsal kirleticiler ile baş başa bırakılmıştır. Söz konusu kirleticiler nedeniyle en büyük su kalitesi kaybına uğrayan alanların başında ise Marmara Denizi gelmektedir. Marmara Denizi havzası başta ülkemizin en büyük şehri olan İstanbul olmak üzere en büyük şehirlerini barındıran bir iç deniz konumundadır. Göreceli olarak küçük bir alan olmasına rağmen havzada ülke nüfusunun yaklaşık 1/3’ü yaşamaktadır. Havzadaki aşırı nüfus artışı ve kontrolsüz yapılaşma özellikle Marmara Denizi üzerinde büyük bir baskı oluşturmuştur. Uzun yıllar süresince arıtılmadan ya da sadece ön arıtıma tabi tutularak Marmara Denizine verilen atıklar denizin taşıma kapasitesini aşmış, bu nedenle denizde yaşayan birçok canlı türü tamamen ortadan kaybolmuştur. Hatta aşırı kirlenme nedeniyle Marmara Denizi’nin “Doğu Körfez” bölümü uzun yılardan beri balıkçılığa kapatılmıştır. Son zamanlarda Marmara Denizinde ortaya çıkan en önemli ekolojik sorunlardan bir tanesi de yaklaşık 6 ay süren müsilaj artışıdır. Müsilaj Ocak 2021 de başlayıp Haziran 2021’e kadar devam etmiştir. Müsilaj artışının 6 ay gibi uzun bir süre devam etmesi, büyük bir alanda habitat kayıpları yaratması, ekolojik tahribat kadar ekonomik kayıplara neden olması, balıkçılık dahil birçok ekosistem hizmetlerini etkilemesi nedeniyle dünya literatürüne girmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi olarak böylesine önemli ekolojik sorunu detaylı bir şekilde araştırmak, sonuçlarını ortaya koymanın gerekliliğine inanarak sadece Marmara Denizi’nde ortaya çıkan müsilaj sorunu ile ilgili çalışmaların yer aldığı 13 bölümden oluşan kitap yayınlamaya karar verdik. Deniz araştırmaları konusunda yaklaşık 80 yıllık deneyime sahip İstanbul Üniversitesinin yayınladığı bu eserin deniz bilimcilere ve karar vericilere başucu kaynağı olmasını diliyoruz.

Description: Title in English: Prediction of potential locations for water-retention dams in landscape based on re-utilisation of defunct relics of water-management buildings: Certified methodology This certified methodology shows the steps to be taken by contractors and builders of small water reservoirs with a special focus on preserving and archiving cultural value of historic landscape and its evolution. The methodology describes how to find and use defunct relics of historical waterdams in modern constructions (water retention dams), from identification in the landscape, through incorporation into the project documentation of the dam construction, to basic protection during the building process itself. State legislature on historic landscape is also mentioned. Re-utilisation of historic waterdams allows for their conservation for future generations and points at features of the historic dams at risk of destruction, and which need archaeological attention during the construction works (especially the historical drainage outlet). This methodology is praxis driven, as it is actively using knowledge gained through close co-operation with contractors and builders, and reflects their needs during construction.

The base of presented e-book is aimed on the support including the educational process and the aim is to summarise and present possible intervention and compensation. The studying text should make the orientation in the presented field easier and provide support to students and special needs teachers and to other specialists to solve the problems in the sphere of support of people with physical disability.

Description: Title in English: Pronunciation in Learning German at Secondary Schools. This publication presents an empirical research of pronunciation mistakes of Czech students learning German as a second foreign language at elementary school. The aim of the research was to verify the extent of the students’ pronunciation difficulties with German pronunciation phenomena error-prone for Czech native speakers. The research determined in what way these errors manifest themselves in the transfer from the students’ previously acquired languages, i.e. their mother tongue (Czech) and the first foreign language learnt (English). Within the theoretical foundation, the focus is put on different concepts of pronunciation in terms of foreign language teaching objectives, definitions of language errors and their causes, the development of the German pronunciation standard and methodological approaches to error analysis.

The introduction discusses various theories of writing and the development of graphomotor skills and writing. It also defines graphomotor disorders and developmental dysgraphia and offers an overview of diagnostic methods for assessing handwriting disabilities. In the final chapter, the authors present an original approach to diagnosing graphomotor disabilities based on an objective analysis of online handwriting. Description: Uzun yıllardır uygulanan liberal-kapitalist yönetişim modeli, bireyselleşmeyi ve piyasayı egemen kılıp, özel sektörü büyüterek, devleti ve hizmetlerini sınırlandırarak varlığını bugüne kadar sürdürdü. Ancak COVID-19 krizi ile birlikte bu ekonomik sistemin nasıl bir sonuç doğurduğuna hep birlikte şahit olduk. Dünyanın en büyük ekonomilerine sahip ülkelerin salgınla mücadelede ihtiyaç duyulan en temel koruma malzemelerini sağlamakta aciz duruma düşmesi, hastaları seçerek tedaviye almaları ve diğerlerini ölüme terk etmeleri, ölen insanlarını taşıyacak tabutları ve gömecek yerlerinin olmaması mevcut sistemlerin ne kadar insani olduğu sorununu somut bir şekilde ortaya çıkardı. Uluslararası rekabette en başarılı ülkeler, üstünlük sağlayan sektörlere ve üretime odaklanarak ekonomik gelişme stratejilerini bugüne kadar sürdürdüler. Ancak uzun tedarik zincirlerine ve küreselleşmeye dayalı bu yapı çökerken, katı sınırlar ve ulusal üretimlerle bu boşluğu doldurma arayışı ön plana çıktı. Ekonomiyle birlikte fonksiyonları zayıflayan, hizmet alan ve kapasitesi kısıtlanan devlet aygıtı ve yapısı, yaşanan salgınla birlikte büyük bir krizle karşı karşıya kaldı. COVID-19 salgınıyla birlikte ekonomik gelişmelere rağmen, sağlık hizmetlerinin ve tarımsal üretimin acil hallerde yarattığı etkilerinin insanlığı tehdit edecek boyutlara nasıl ulaştığını yaşayarak tecrübe ettik. Salgın ile birlikte tarımsal üretim başta olmak üzere temel ihtiyaçları karşılayacak üretimi yapabilmenin önemini bir kez daha anladık. Maske, solunum cihazı, ilaç ve aşı gibi halk sağlığı alanlarında üretim ve hizmetleri sunmanın ne kadar önemli olduğunun bilincine vardık. Üretimlerin stratejik öneminin dönemsel ve ihtiyaçlara göre değişebildiği gerçeğini bir kez daha yaşadık ve paramız olsa da bazı ürünleri ve hizmetleri satın alamayacağımızı gördük. Salgın, küresel düzeyde neredeyse hepimizi ruhsal, fiziksel ve sosyal açıdan eşitleyerek; sağlık, eğitim, gelir eşitsizliği, yoksulluk, işsizlik, göç, iklim krizi, temel insan ihtiyaçlarına erişim dahil her alanda yeni farkındalıklar oluşturdu. Salgın, bir yönüyle bencilliği besledi, dayanışmayı azalttı, yalnızlığa, biyolojik olduğu kadar psikolojik sorunlara ve bilgi kirliliğine yol açtı, ölüm korkusunu bireysel olmaktan çıkarıp, toplumsallaştırdı. Diğer yönüyle de dayanışma ihtiyacını artırdı ve ortak kader duygusunu güçlendirdi. Bu nedenle sosyal uyumu esas alan bir anlayışa olan ihtiyacımız daha fazla önem kazandı. Bundan dolayı toplumsal savrulmayı önleyecek ve panik yaşanmasına fırsat vermeyecek yapılanmaya ihtiyacımız arttı. 1980 sonrasında neoliberal rüzgârların etkisiyle yapılan özelleştirmelerle Türkiye’de de devlet nispeten küçültüldü, ekonomik ve sosyal sorunların yaşandığı bir dönemde küresel salgınla karşılaşıldı. Ancak genel sağlık sigortası, hastane sayısı, yatak kapasitesi gibi alanlarda sahip olduğumuz potansiyel ve kriz yönetme becerimiz sayesinde süreci nispeten daha iyi şartlarda geçirmekteyiz. Fakat bu gerçeğe rağmen ülkemizin de yeni şartlara adapte olmasını sağlayacak, krizi en az zararla atlatacak ve 21. yüzyılın ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak yeniden yapılanmaya ihtiyacı artmaktadır. Ekonomik ve sosyal alanda yaşananlar yeni bir paradigma değişikliğine ihtiyaç olduğunu gösteriyor. Çünkü doyumsuzluğu ve obeziteyi besleyen sınırsız ihtiyaçlar algısı yerine, ihtiyaçların sınırlı olduğu ve isteklerin sınırlandırılabileceğini esas alan, bilgi hariç kaynakların sınırlı olduğu ilkesine dayalı yeni bir ekonomik düzeni inşa edecek bir paradigma değişikliğine yönelik beklenti artıyor. Kriz sürecini en az zararla atlatabilmek için hep birlikte dayanışma içinde mücadele ederek, küresel düzeyde yükselen işkollarını ve meslekleri esas alarak, endüstrileri ve iş piyasalarını yeniden yapılandırmak gerekiyor. Bu kitabın editörlüğünü üstelenen, yazar olarak katkıda bulunan ve hazırlanmasında görev alan fakültemizin çok kıymetli hocalarına bu vesileyle bir kez daha çok teşekkür ediyorum. 84 yıllık birikimimize uygun bir şekilde dünyada ve ülkemizde yaşanan ve yaşanacak sorunlara öğretim üyelerimiz kayıtsız kalmamış, var olan zor şartlara rağmen alternatifler üreterek, yol gösterici öngörülerde bulunmuşlardır. Hiç kuşkusuz bu kitap ön çalışma niteliğindedir, verilere ulaşıldıkça detaylandırılacaktır. Ufuk açıcı ve faydalı olması dileğiyle saygılar sunuyorum.

Description: Title in English: The concept of developing geoinformatics skills in teaching at primary and secondary schools This conceptual monograph responds to insufficient support for developing geoinformation skills in Czech lower and upper secondary schools. It aims to create an interconnected system for developing geoinformation skills in teaching in lower and upper secondary schools, emphasizing the implementation of GIS tools and proposing principles for the development of geoinformation skills in teaching. For this purpose, a matrix of learning tasks is created, arranged according to individual geoinformation skills – reading, selection, use, creation, and sharing. The monograph is intended mainly for pre-service and in-service geography teachers at lower and upper secondary schools, the leaders of school educational programmes, and teachers in non-formal education. Description: Title in English: Methodological publication of work with inclusive classroom with the focus on pupils with physical disability: Methodical Manual Publication is one of the outputs of the project Quality Inclusive Education of Pupils with Special Education Needs at elementary and secondary school. This text focuses on teaching pupils with physical disabilities in an inclusive classroom. The text is divided into three chapters, the first one defines theoretical background. Described is physical disability with an emphasis on cerebral palsy together with the specifics of the target group of pupils. Part of the chapter also defines special pedagogical diagnostics. The second chapter focuses on the education of pupil with cerebral palsy in inclusive school. In the third chapter are presented results of the research part of the project with special education needs – with physical disabilities with the focus on cerebral palsy.

The study support is focused on the issue of alternative and augmentative communication. The text presents selected systems and aids applied in our and foreign practice. The key criteria for our definition of this group are age and a break in the formal educational trajectory after high school. Description: Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları, 15-16 Kasım 2018 tarihinde İstanbul Üniversitesi Engelliler Uygulama Merkezi ve İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Sağlık Daire Başkanlığı Engelliler Müdürlüğü işbirliği ile düzenlenen Dünden Bugüne Engellilik-Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nda sunulan çalışmalardan derlendi. Engellilik meselesini disiplinler arası bir yaklaşımla inceleyen ‘Engellilik Araştırmaları’, kuramsal ve uygulamalı bir bilim alanıdır. Bu alan 1970’li yıllarda Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ve İngiltere’de başlayan engelli hakları hareketinin akademik çalışmalara yansımasıyla ortaya çıktı. Sonraki yıllarda engelliliği sosyal, kültürel, tarihsel, hukuki, politik ve etik yönleriyle ele alan disiplinler arası bir araştırma alanı olarak Amerika ve Avrupa’ya yayıldı, pek çok üniversitede lisansüstü, hatta lisans düzeyinde programlar başlatıldı. Türkiye’de 2017 yılında, engellilik araştırmalarının geliştirilmesi amacıyla, İstanbul Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Engellilik Araştırmaları Anabilim Dalı kurularak, yüksek lisans programı açıldı. Engellilik deneyiminin kişisel ve toplumsal düzeyde etkilerini incelemeyi hedefleyen bu programın belkemiğini oluşturan konulardan birisi de, toplumlarda engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyokültürel boyutlarıydı. Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyo-kültürel boyutlarını ilgilendiren alanlarda farklı disiplinler tarafından yapılmış bazı çalışmalara rastlanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, engellilik çalışmalarıyla ilgilenen araştırmacılar için kaynak ihtiyacı açık bir şekilde eksikliği hissedilen bir konudur. Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları bu amaçla yola çıkmış bir çalışmanın ürünüdür. 2018 Kasım ayında İstanbul’da gerçekleştirilen Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nın teması Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel, kurumsal, hukuksal ve sosyo-kültürel açıdan incelenmesi hedef alınarak, Dünden Bugüne Engellilik olarak belirlenmişti. The publication deals with the topic of measuring metacognition, with special emphasis on a specific group of intellectually gifted children. It briefly presents the construct of metacognition itself, its relation to intellectual giftedness, together with a taxonomy of metacognitive phenomena. Next, the most important methods developed to assess metacognition are discussed and critically appraised. The monography covers both the methods, in which the data are registered during the execution of the stimulus task (on-line methods), and the methods, where the data are recorded with some time lag (off-line methods). The most extensive part of the publication is devoted to the topic of various measures, used to express the level of metacognitive monitoring.

Through an innovative interdisciplinary study of the politics of gendered memory and trauma in historical context, with numerous primary sources for analysis including diaries, interviews, letters and oral testimonies, this book uncovers the life-or-death struggles of Japanese survivors in pursuit of public recognition as the victims of state violence against women. It is set within a gender history of modern Japan, supplemented by feminist activist methodology premised upon political agency that seeks social justice. The author’s analysis draws upon three key concepts: trauma, coherence of the self, and integrity. Description: Title in English: Physical activity as an effective means of non-pharmacological care in oncology. Much of the existing research confirms the assumption that regular physical activity can play a crucial role in nonpharmacological therapy and quality of life management in cancer survivors. The treatment of oncological diseases itself brings about numerous undesirable side effects, such as cardiotoxicity, anxiety, depression, sarcopenia, polyneuropathy, cancer fatigue and sleep disorders. Regular physical activity is associated with significant benefits for health including a lower risk of developing certain types of tumours and elimination of the accompanying undesirable effects of oncological treatment. A number of epidemiological studies found a correlation between regular physical activity and lower mortality linked to oncological diseases. The minimal amount of the activity needed to gain this benefit has not been established, however, the recommendations of ACSM indicate that at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity are needed per week. Physical exercise as nonpharmacological treatment is a domain of cancer survivors therapy whose aim is to incorporate targeted controlled exercise programmes into the overall treatment plan of the patients. Exercise programmes can be performed both in the duration of the illness as well as in the period prior to the treatment or in the course of adjuvant antitumour treatment (including chemotherapy) and in survivors. When prescribing physical activity it is necessary to take current health condition of the patient into account including their comorbidities, age or the level of physical fitness. If controlled physical activity is to become an indispensable part of oncological treatment it will be necessary to prove the therapy is safe and cost-effective.

This book attempts to capture the momentum, a moment of transformation, where the complex processes related to the expansion of heterogeneous cosmopolitan modernity intersect and converge, processes that influence and change both Euro-American civilisation and the planet as a whole, and along the way transform the state, economic, cultural and social arrangement, the practises and the notions used in order to understand our existence in the world. The authors of the studies that make up this publication look at the problem from several selected aspects falling within the domains of sociology, culture and new media art, which have in common an effort to put current phenomena into more general and more profound social, political and cultural contexts. They strive to avoid presentism in order to observe the processes gathered under the umbrella of “cosmopolitan modernity” from the point of view of the longue durée.

Description: Japan is the only country in the world where women writers laid the foundations of classical literature. The Kagero Diary commands our attention as the first extant work of that rich and brilliant tradition. The author, known to posterity as Michitsuna’s Mother, a member of the middle-ranking aristocracy of the Heian period (794–1185), wrote an account of 20 years of her life (from 954–74), and this autobiographical text now gives readers access to a woman’s experience of a thousand years ago. The diary centers on the author’s relationship with her husband, Fujiwara Kaneie, her kinsman from a more powerful and prestigious branch of the family than her own. Their marriage ended in divorce, and one of the author’s intentions seems to have been to write an anti-romance, one that could be subtitled, “I married the prince but we did not live happily ever after.” Yet, particularly in the first part of the diary, Michitsuna’s Mother is drawn to record those events and moments when the marriage did live up to a romantic ideal fostered by the Japanese tradition of love poetry. At the same time, she also seems to seek the freedom to live and write outside the romance myth and without a husband. Since the author was by inclination and talent a poet and lived in a time when poetry was a part of everyday social intercourse, her account of her life is shaped by a lyrical consciousness. The poems she records are crystalline moments of awareness that vividly recall the past. This new translation of the Kagero Diary conveys the long, fluid sentences, the complex polyphony of voices, and the floating temporality of the original. It also pays careful attention to the poems of the text, rendering as much as possible their complex imagery and open-ended quality. The translation is accompanied by running notes on facing pages and an introduction that places the work within the context of contemporary discussions regarding feminist literature and the genre of autobiography and provides detailed historical information and a description of the stylistic qualities of the text.

Description: This book is dedicated to the imagination of migrant communities from former Yugoslavia. It contextualizes their imagination in relation to the history, space and culture of Yugoslavia. Its empirical basis is grounded in the contemporary history of the migration from former Yugoslavia. The first part of the work deals with the methodology and theory relevant to the case studies. Besides the theory of imagination originating in the thought of Émile Durkheim, Cornelius Castoriadis, Benedict Anderson and Arjun Appadurai. I have also focused on the theory of popular culture, quoting its founding thinkers related to the Birmingham school of Centre of contemporary Cultural Studies, as well as John Fiske and the parallel culture- -driven research of Pierre Bourdieu and Michel de Certeau. The theoretical framework of this book generally relates to Marxism, and the works of Antonio Gramsci, David Harvey, Immanuel Wallerstein, Slavoj Žižek and others. The methodology of this book is closely inspired by the anthropological tradition of participant observation. The primary sources are heterogeneous and partly issue from the narration of the informants during several in-depth interviews as well as from narration, edited either by the different institutions of the host-country or the by editors based in the home-country. The second part of the book provides a historical and geographical context for the case studies that follow. It presents the contemporary history of migration from the western Balkans starting at the beginning of the 20th century as cross border migrations following patterns of industrial modernisation. The economic migrations of the working classes were supplemented by migrations of members of the intellectual elites who chose merely symbolic destinations for emigration. However, the core-periphery of primarily economic relations of the world-system as identified by Immanuel Wallerstein remained unchanged even by this symbolic logic. Migrations during the second half of the 20th century are presented in more detail. The political turmoil of 1941-1948 which established the Yugoslav Socialist Federation in its position between the two blocs and this point is the essential contextual reference of this book. During the socialist years in Yugoslavia we may identify two main motives of migration – economic and political. These may somehow relate to the previous histories of popular and elite emigration but under the new political regime it changed substantially. These two motives are part of the establishment of specific segments of migrants and their interrelations. Starting from the early 1960s the economic motive of migration gave rise to the phenomenon of Gastatbajteri (guest-workers) that changed the social and cultural landscape of former Yugoslavia, and together with it also many cities of Western European and other host-countries. However, the frontier between the two types of migrants (political and economic) is not completely defined and in many cases the two motives coincided. The coincidence of the political and economic motives for migration may also be visible during and after the break-up of Yugoslavia. In this part of the book I cover the history of the 1990s refugee migrations that were often linked to the local practice of ethnic homogenization conducted by all parties involved in the series of conflicts. Besides, many migrants from regions that were not directly involved in the war used the possibility to obtain refugee status to escape the economic, social and intellectual downturn of the successor countries of former Yugoslavia. Here, the basic theoretical distinction between voluntary and involuntary migrations is discussed arguing that practically no migration is voluntary and should the migrants be completely free to choose, many would prefer to stay at home. Three host countries of migrants from former Yugoslavia are presented more in detail: France, Austria and the Czech Republic. Each of these countries has its specificities in the world-system and also in relation to migrations from former Yugoslavia. Differences and similarities among them are presented in relation to the different segments of migrants crystallised either according to their ethno-confessional/political background and/or motive of migration. Different segments of migrants from former Yugoslavia are formed around different memory-systems. As a first case study I present politics of memory linked to two lieux de mémoire – one in France (Villefranche-de-Rouergue) and one in Austria (Bleiburg). By coincidence both are important in particular for memories of migrants of Croatian origin. The two memorials however, present completely opposing views of national history. Villefranche- de-Rouergue is a symbol for Croatian antifacist resistance and Bleiburg a symbol for the retreat of collaborationist forces of the pro-Nazi puppet Independent state of Croatia. Both of these memorials however, form an example of political memory that even if on the first sight seems contradictory, is by definition syncretic. If the first case study deals with history and memory the second one completes it with the examination of the space dimension. Here I present different images linked to space that surrounded migrants from former Yugoslavia in their host-countries and I discuss also memories of spaces and places in the home-country. I identify three such images – Road, Landscape and Motherland. Based on these images I propose redesigning the nostalgic cartographies of migrants from those presenting world-views of the external researchers (nostalgia of multiculturalism) to those specifically declared by migrants (nostalgia of Home). The third case study is the one that is the most similar in form to most Cultural and Subcultural studies and deals in detail with imagination linked to music. Here, similar to the politics of memory, different segments of migrants are confronted with rock and folk music as well as with a specific local variety of pop-folk. Furthermore, patriotic and electronic music are discussed as well as the topic of Balkanism in cinematography and the communication of ethnic origins on French internet websites.

The issue of pedagogical evaluation is introduced in the context of the quality of education. Pedagogical evaluation is presented as a research approach and as a tool for practitioners. Description: Title in English: A student teacher professional competence standard The purpose of the Standard is to describe the expert knowledge of primary and secondary school teachers, and the academic staff of the Faculty of Education about what is well-prepared implemented and assessed teaching. The Standard is primarily used by student teachers for orientation in the demands of of the quality of teaching at primary and secondary schools, for assessing and monitoring the progress of their professional competencies. Last but not least, the Standard helps to create a shared understanding of the teaching quality in the community of prospective and current teachers, thus bringing together actors involved in undergraduate training of pre-service teachers.

Birinci bölümde Ön Bilgiler başlığı altında kitapta kullanılan fonksiyonel analiz, ölçü kuramı, soyut harmonik analizi ve Fourier analizine ilişkin temel kavramlar verilerek alt yapı kurulmaktadır. İkinci bölümde dışbükey fonksiyonlar ve temel özellikleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Üçüncü ve Dördüncü bölümler, bu kitabın temel çalışma konusu olan Young fonksiyonları ve Orlicz fonksiyon uzaylarına ayrılmıştır. Beşinci bölüm kitabın ana hedefini oluşturmaktadır. Burada İstanbul Üniversitesi, Matematik Bölümünde bu kitabın yazarları tarafından Orlicz uzayları üzerine yapılan bilimsel çalışmalardan ve uygulamalardan kesitler sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmalar, (soyut) harmonik analiz, Fourier analizi, zaman-frekans analizi ve fonksiyonel analiz gibi matematiksel analizin dallarını kapsamaktadır. Description: Title in English: Integration of 3D printing technology into teaching in primary and secondary schools: Verified Methodology With the development of 3D printing technology in recent years, there has been a significant decrease in the price of printers and thus an increase in the availability of this technology. This technological area opens up new possibilities in a wide range of fields from industry, medicine, construction and architecture to the level of everyday home use. We also see a huge didactic potential in 3D technology, which is currently not being used. The implementation of 3D technologies in teaching at primary and secondary schools enables the creation of completely new types of teaching aids and increases the availability of teaching models for pupils and students. Students can work with teaching models in class and, with methodological supports, they also actively participate in their creation.

Description: Monografie se zabývá sociolingvistickou analýzou současné situace ve Španělsku. Vychází z detailního popisu jazyků a dialektů současného Španělska a snaží se načrtnout jazykovou dimenzi konfliktů, ke kterým dochází v tomto mnohojazyčném státě. Popisuje historii a současnost složitého vztahu mezi jazykem oficiálním (španělština) a jazyky kooficiálními (katalánština, baskičtina, galicijština). Ukazuje, že jazykový rozměr je jen jedním z aspektů, byť důležitým, daleko složitějšího konfliktu a že vztah mezi tímto jazykovým rozměrem a dimenzí politickou, kulturní a sociální je daleko komplikovanější, než jak se obvykle prezentuje. Vychází z analýzy aktuálních statistických dat a kromě detailního popisu stavu na jednotlivých dvojjazyčných územích (Baskicko, Galicie, Katalánsko, Valencie, Baleáry) obsahuje též zobecňující komentář, z kterého vyplývá, jak rozdílná je povaha jazykových konfliktů na jednotlivých územích a jak obtížné je hledat řešení na centrální, celošpanělské úrovni.

Description: Diplomalar eğitim tarihi açısından önemli belgelerdir. Onları veren okullar, okutulan dersler ve giderek o dersleri okutan hocalar hakkında ilginç bilgiler verirler. Yükseköğretim tarihi ile ilgilenmeye başladıktan sonra birer belge niteliği taşıyan çeşitli alanlardaki diplomaların kendilerini ve kopyalarını toplamaya başladım ve zaman içinde bir diploma koleksiyonu ortaya çıktı. Bunlara öğrenci kimlik ve belgeleri de eklendi. On yıl önce bunlardan bir sergi açma gündeme geldiyse de çeşitli nedenlerle gerçekleşemedi ve hazırladığım sergi kataloğu da bir taslak halinde kaldı. Yakın dönemde bu projeye eski bir mensubu olduğum İstanbul Üniversitesi tarafından sahip çıkıldı. Bu kitap İstanbul Üniversitesi Rektörlüğü tarafından düzenlenmesi planlanan “Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e Yükseköğrenim Diploma ve Belgeleri” adlı serginin genişletilmiş kataloğudur. Sergi özel koleksiyonumda bulunan diploma ve belgelerin seçilmiş bir bölümünü içerecektir. Kitapta ise koleksiyonumda bulunan tüm diploma ve belgelere yer verildiği gibi belirli bir alan veya okul için kronolojik açıdan boşluk olan yerlerde sürekliliği sağlamak amacıyla çeşitli kaynaklardan alınan bazı diploma ve belgeler de verilmiştir. Ayrıca, diploma ve belgelerin yanına ilginç bazı fotoğraflflar da eklenmiştir. Böylece diplomalar üzerinden Türkiye’deki yükseköğretimin tarihinin ana hatları da verilmeye çalışılmıştır, Diplomalar büyük bir çaba gösterip emek harcayarak onları elde etmiş olan sahipleri açısından hem manen ve hem de kendilerine bir iş sağlaması bakımından maddeten büyük değer taşır ve korunur. Ancak, piyasada çok sayıda eski diplomanın satılır olması ailelerdeki aidiyet duygusunun genellikle zayıf olmasından dolayı kişilerin ölümünden sonra çocuklarının anne veya babalarının diplomalarını evde koyacak bir yer bulamamalarından olsa gerek eskiciye satmalarından kaynaklanmaktadır. Kitapta bulunan ve kaynak gösterilmemiş olan tüm diploma, belge ve fotoğraflflar özel koleksiyonumdadır. Elli yıllık geçmişi olan ve artık tarihsellik kazanmış bulunan kendi diploma ve bazı belgelerimi de kitaba ekledim. Burada sunulan diplomaların ve belgelerin bir bölümü daha önce yaptığım çeşitli yayınlarda yayınlanmış olmakla birlikte önemli bir bölümü ilk kez yayınlanmaktadır. Kitap düzenlenirken diploma ve belgeler tıp ve sağlık bilimleri, sosyal bilimler, fen bilimleri ve mühendislik olmak üzere kendi içlerinde alt bölümlere ayrılan dört ana grup altında toplanmıştır. Her bölümün başında o okulun veya kurumun geçmişine ilişkin çok kısa bir bilgi verilmiştir. Aynı kökten gelen farklı okul ve kurumlar için verilen bilgilerde ister istemez bazı küçük tekrarlar da olmuştur. Bazı çok önemli kişi veya olaylar hakkında da kısa açıklamalar yapılmıştır. Kitabın son kısmında doğrudan yükseköğrenim ile ilişkili olmamakla birlikte eğitim tarihimiz açısından önem taşıyan bazı diploma ve belgelere de yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca, kitaba Türkiye’deki yükseköğretimin toplu bir kronolojisi de eklenmiştir. Bazı okullar ve dönemler için diploma ve belge bulmak son derece güçtür. Örneğin, İnâs Darülfünunu’nun bu güne kadar bilinen iki diploması vardır. Bu güne kadar Darülfünun-ı Şâhâne’den 1908 öncesinde verilmiş Ulûm-ı Âliye-i Diniye Şubesi’ne ilişkin bir diploma dışında başka bir diplomaya rastlanmamıştır. Burada sunulan tıp, sosyal ve fen bilimleri alanlarındaki diploma ve belgelerin çok büyük bir çoğunluğu doğal olarak İstanbul Üniversitesi’nin geçmişine ilişkindir.

Description: Title in English: Motivation Support in Teaching German as a Foreign Language (and Beyond) With regard to the proven significant impact of motivation on learning processes and their success, promoting learner’s motivation can be described as an important part of pedagogical activity. The current book presents research investigations into learners’ motivation in learning German as a foreign language. A qualitative research design conducted as a multi-case study was chosen in order to gain a deeper insight into the issue of motivation. The results obtained showed the wide scope of teachers’ motivating influence on their learners. Many of the existing findings on motivation could be verified. Moreover, the specifics of motivation towards German as a second foreign language as well as the culturally conditioned specifics concerning Czech learners’ attitudes towards the German language have been highlighted.

Description: Title in English: Test versions equivalence of the Slovak upper-secondary school leaving examination The research presented in this book strives to answer how test versions equivalence – a necessary condition for meaningful and fair interpretation and comparison of students’ results – could be achieved in the context of high-stakes examination. The research was carried on the Slovak upper-secondary school leaving examination in English at B1 level, namely on the tests of receptive skills operationalized between 2012 and 2015. Theoretical research on the methods and procedures and the application of some of them on the Slovak examinations in the empirical part provided deep insight into the degree of comparability of the test versions used between 2012 and 2015 and made it possible to identify problem areas in terms of test versions comparability. The research helped to identify suitable methods and approaches that might enable to develop equivalent test versions and subsequently, to interpret meaningfully the test results and the measured construct, i.e. students’ language proficiency.
