On the Carboniferous, new data are provided on the stratigraphy of the Zaisan region and the Ekibastuz basin. The publication is intended for a wide range of geologists and paleontologists.

    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of abstract: The collection is devoted to the stratigraphy and paleontology of the Paleozoic West Siberian Plate and its mountain frame. Refined stratigraphic schemes for Paleozoic deposits of the West Siberian Plate and Devonian deposits of the Rudny Altai are proposed, and the Devonian stratigraphic units of Salair, Altai and the Urals are compared. Considerable attention is paid to the systematic description of new species and larger taxa of foraminifera, polychaetes, algae, spores, their use for biostratigraphic division and correlation of Paleozoic deposits is considered, and the issue of the geographical type of fauna is addressed. The book is intended for geologists-stratigraphers, paleontologists, petroleum geologists, specialists in paleogeography and regional geology.

    Description / Table of Contents: The book deals with the influence of cryogenesis (a complex process of heating - cooling, freezing - thawing and accompanying phenomena) on earth surface and upper horizons transformation for the late Cenozoic period, and for the present time. The book summarizes the notions of geocryological zonality, altitudinal zonality and "sectorality" in formation of soil thermal regime, frozen strata and taliks distribution, season freezing and thawing, depending on geographical location of the territory and recent natural conditions. The book also gives an analyses of zonal and regional regularities in periglacial processes and phenomena distribution as well as formation of cryogenic composition for different syngenetic, epigenetic and taber soils and epigenetic frozen rocks. The influence of geothermal, geostructural, geomorphological and hydrogeological conditions, glaciation and deglaciation, Arctic seas transgressions and regressions on thickness, and composition of permafrost zone and its interaction with natural gas hydrates is analysed. The book describes major peculiarities of cryolitozone of platforms, mountain areas and Arctic submarine cryolithozone in connection with Pleistocene and Holocene paleogeography. The peculiarities of lithosphere cryogenesis are analysed mainly for northern Eurasia and partly for North America. The book is intended for students and professional geocryologists, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, geographers and geoecologists as well as geologists dealing with oil and gas, miners, construction workers and those dealing with Northern and Eastern parts of Russia and Northern part of North America.

    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of abstract: Using the example of the Igarsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the work examines the development of modern geocryological conditions of the northern taiga subzone of the Yenisei Arctic, caused by the development of the territory and climate warming in recent decades. The scale and degree of changes in geocryological conditions in areas of azonal development of permafrost rocks, as well as on the route of the high-voltage line Kureyskaya HPP - Norilsk in the section from the river, have been revealed. Bol. Kozharki to the hall. The Whitefish Khantaisk Reservoir is about 250 km long. The genesis and development of thermokarst lakes, the formation of modern permafrost on the bottom of a partially drained lake, frost cracking and accumulation of modern epigenetic re-veined underground ice on coarse peat bogs, changes in permafrost conditions along the routes of the “dead” railway and the future Vankor-Igarka oil pipeline are considered. The book is intended for permafrost scientists, geographers and civil engineers.

Выявлены масштабы и степень изменений геокриологических условий в районах азонального развития многолетнемерзлых пород, а также на трассе высоковольтной линии Курейская ГЭС - Норильск на участке от р. Бол. Кожарки до зал. Сигового Хантайского водохранилища протяженностью около 250 км. Рассмотрены генезис и развитие термокарстовых озер, формирование современной мерзлоты на дне частично осушенного озера, морозобойное растрескивание и накопление современных эпигенетических повторно-жильных подземных льдов на крупнобугристых торфяниках, изменение мерзлотных условий на трассах "мертвой" железной дороги и будущего нефтепровода Ванкор - Игарка.     Description: This book addresses the question of vigilance in the face of an epidemic at the beginning of the 18th century, based on the example of the fight against the plague in the French Mediterranean. Because of its trans-Mediterranean trade, this region was particularly exposed to the risk of plague so that it sought to protect itself with concrete measures such as quarantine. ; Cet ouvrage s’intéresse au risque et à la vigilance face à la peste sur la côte méditerranéenne française dans la première moitié du 18e siècle. Entre 1720 et 1722, une terrible épidémie de peste frappe Marseille, la Provence, le Comtat-Venaissin et une partie du Languedoc, causant environ 100'000 décès. Aussi dramatique soit-elle, cette épidémie constitue une exception durant la première moitié du 18e siècle. La première partie de ce travail analyse les rapports entre vigilance, espace et communication et met en évidence une prévention qui s’exerce tant de manière transméditerranéenne que de manière interne au royaume de France. Une véritable «bureaucratie sanitaire» se met en place. La deuxième partie étudie les normes et les pratiques de la vigilance sanitaire, tant sur un plan politico-sanitaire (quarantaines des navires, des passagers et des marchandises) que sur un plan religieux (processions et prières pour endiguer la maladie). Enfin, la dernière partie se limite à la peste de 1720-1722 et illustre le passage d’une vigilance préventive à une vigilance réactive en s’intéressant aux «acteurs de la peste» et aux attitudes et tactiques développées face au fléau épidémique.

En examinant l’existence troublée d’animaux réputés sauvages, mais vivant désormais de conditions domestiques et artificielles puissantes, ce livre pose la double question de la communication et de l’animalité. La vie accidentée de ces animaux trafiqués transpire nos changements écologiques actuels, incarne la disparition vertigineuse d’espèces animales et renvoie à la détérioration accélérée d’habitats naturels. Dans ce livre, on découvre des biographies animales, comme celle d’un chimpanzé cobaye (Rachel) évoluant dans un sanctuaire évangélisateur ou encore, celle d’un dauphin (Nellie) au « chômage », mis aux enchères après la faillite du parc d’attraction qui l’a vu naître et grandir. Mises en résonance, chacune de ces biographies compose un véritable bestiaire d’êtres qui pourraient sembler provenir d’histoires fictives abracadabrantesques et qui, pourtant, sont tout sauf imaginaires. Voilà qui permet de reposer, autrement, la vieille question de l’espèce. Publié en français ; If a Bengal tiger anxiously splashes around in a small plastic pool in the summer and feeds on supermarket meat, is it still a tiger? By examining the troubled existence of so-called wild animals now living under overwhelmingly domestic and artificial conditions, this book raises the dual question of communication and animality. The turbulent lives of these trafficked animals reflect current ecological changes, embody the precipitous disappearance of animal species, and denote the accelerated deterioration of natural habitats. This book presents animal biographies, such as that of a former laboratory chimpanzee (Rachel) now living in an evangelizing sanctuary, or that of an “unemployed” dolphin (Nellie) put up for auction after the amusement park where it was born and raised went bankrupt. Echoing one another, these biographies make up a bestiary of beings that seem to have leapt from grotesque fiction. Yet, they are anything but imaginary. And thus the age-old question of species is raised once again, albeit in an entirely different fashion than before. Published in French.
