    Description: In 2020, Norway’s national curriculum for primary and secondary school eduction, known as Kunnskapsløftet, came into effect. The plan is marked by increased emphasis on education for sustainability, and a notable example of this is the inclusion of sustainable development as an interdisciplinary topic in most subjects in primary and secondary school. As a result, the focus on sustainabilty has also increased in teacher eduction programs, for preschool as well as primary and secondary school teachers. Furthermore, a number of research networks have been established to explore sustainability in the context of education, and new research and textbooks are being published on this topic. This anthology presents new research on how the subject of sustainability is being handled in schools and preschools today, to all those interested in the topic. Education for Sustainability. Experience and Research from Preschool, Primary and Secondary School can be read as a handbook in sustainable teacher and preschool teacher education, or as a collection of individual research articles that contribute to greater awareness of, focus on and commitment to education for sustainability.

Et synlig uttrykk for dette er at bærekraftig utvikling skal inn som et tverrfaglig tema i de fleste fag i grunnskolen og i videregående skole. Som en følge av dette har fokuset på bærekraft økt både i lærerutdanningen og i barnehagelærerutdanningen. Det er i tillegg etablert en mengde forskningsnettverk som jobber med temaet bærekraft og utdanning, og forskning og nye lærebøker har blitt publisert om temaet. Denne boken presenterer ny forskning om hvordan det jobbes med temaet i skole og barnehage. Boken vil gi ny kunnskap til alle som er opptatt av temaet. Utdanning for bærekraft. Erfaing og forskning fra barnehage og skole kan leses både som en fagbok innrettet mot bærekraftutdanning for lærere og barnehagelærere, og som enkeltstående forskningsbidrag. Artiklene i antologien kan bidra til økt innsikt, engasjement og fokus på utdanning for bærekraft.

    Description: "The study aim was twofold: 1) Review basic principles of test-retest reliability, and 2) investigate the reliability of a test procedure of a one-minute time trial on an ergometer bicycle in relatively well-trained young adults. The subjects (N = 12) completed three “all-out” intervals on the bicycle ergometers where average watt produced was recorded. The results of the experiments showed no significant mean differences across tests, high ICC (.996), low CV, TE, and SEM. The findings suggested that the ergometer test had the ability to produce accurate and stable measurements. It also indicated that measurement biases that affected the results did not seem to occur."

    Description: "The aim of this study was to investigate characteristics of situations when top referees in soccer make an incorrect decision. Two expert panels, consisting of four top referees and four top players respectively, assessed 98 potential penalty shootout situations in Tippeligaen (Norwegian Premier League). The situations in which all the expert panels considered that the match referee made an incorrect decision (N = 14) were then analyzed based on recommended technical refereeing criteria and guidelines, as the referee’s distance to, angle to and insight into these penalty situations. The results revealed that in 11 of these 14 situations the referee had a greater distance than recommended. Furthermore, both the angle and insight were only of medium or poor nature. This may indicate that the referee had limited basis when assessing these situations, and subsequently landed on a wrong decision. Findings also showed that referees were more likely to go in favor of high status teams. This will be a topic for discussion in this article, based on the theory of dealing with mistakes and social pressure."

To ekspertpanel, bestående av henholdsvis fire toppdommere og fire toppspillere, vurderte 98 potensielle straffesparksituasjoner i Tippeligaen.     Description: "How do you really become a skilled teacher? And what role should guidance play in the education of tomorrow's teachers? This theme is explored through a study of experienced practitioners' formalized counseling conversations with teacher students. The most important questions in the book are about how the practice teacher and teacher conduct conversations. Concretely, the question is: What is the content of the counseling interviews? How are the teacher students evaluated? How is the consequences of the counseling discussions understood? The guide being examined contains a step by step pedagogy. First, the teacher's student must learn to control, master and reflect on the social space both the classroom and the counseling conversation are. This is described as an overall moral and regulatory discourse. This discourse forms the basis for the teacher's next step - which is the actual teaching. The teacher's student must therefore master two discourses - one regulatory discourse and one teaching discourse - in order to become a skilled teacher. In addition, he or she must adapt to the regulatory discourse in the counseling conversation. The latter discourse represents in this book an initiation ritual for the teaching profession. This ritual gives the practice teacher control over the dedication, while limiting the room for maneuver in the counseling conversation. "

Denne tematikken utforskes gjennom en studie av erfarne praksislæreres formaliserte veiledningssamtaler med lærerstudenter. De viktigste spørsmålene i boka handler om hvordan praksislærer og lærerstudenter gjennomfører veiledningssamtalene. Helt konkret spørres det: Hva er innholdet i veiledningssamtalene? Dette beskrives som en overordnet moralsk og regulerende diskurs. Denne diskursen danner grunnlaget for lærerstudentens neste trinn – som er selve undervisningen. Lærerstudenten må altså beherske to diskurser – én regulerende diskurs og én undervisningsdiskurs – for å bli en dyktig lærer. I tillegg må han eller hun tilpasse seg den regulerende diskursen i veiledningssamtalen. Den sistnevnte diskursen representerer i denne boka et innvielsesritual til læreryrket. Dette ritualet gir praksislæreren kontroll over innvielsen, samtidig som det begrenser handlingsrommet i veiledningssamtalen."

    Description: "I TIMSS Advanced, en studie av elevers kunnskaper i det siste året i videregående skole, var de norske elevenes kompetanse i fysikk helt i verdenstoppen i 1995, noe som ble lagt merke til både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Siden den gang har det vært en dramatisk nedgang i de norske elevenes prestasjoner. I TIMSS Advanced 2015 målte vi en tilbakegang i elevenes kunnskapesnivå i fysikk på trekvart standardavvik fra 1995. Det er en større nedgang enn vi i Norge har målt i noe annet fag i noen andre internasjonale studier, på noe nivå i skolen. Norge har deltatt i TIMSS Advanced i videregående skole og i TIMSS i grunnskolen jevnlig siden 1995. Vi har derfor en stor databank som gir oss muligheter til å studere og analysere utviklingen i Norge fra 1995 fra mange ulike synsvinkler og perspektiver. Mange av de utfordringene vi står overfor i dag, blant annet når det gjelder miljøet, kan kun løses gjennom forskning og kunnskapsutvikling innen fysikk og andre realfag. Vi trenger å utdanne folk med gode kunnskaper på dette området. At de norske elevenes fysikkprestasjoner har sunket dramatisk fra 1995 til 2015, er derfor bekymringsfullt. I boka tar vi opp og drøfter mange ulike sider for hvordan vi kan bedre de norsk elevenes kunnskaper i fysikk. Et viktig moment er at vi mener Norge har gode muligheter til å bedre undervisningen i fysikk og andre realfag. Vi greide å heve lesenivået blant norske elever gjennom systematisk samarbeid over tid med alle involverte aktører. Vi kan gjøre et tilsvarende løft for realfagene. Det vil være til det beste både for den enkelte elev og for samfunnet som helhet."

    Description: "Research on coaching in sports has long been concerned with how coaches interact with their players. In recent years, more research in sports psychology has been conducted on the coach’s role. However, research on coaches’ co-operation with leaders and staff in the clubs has received little attention. There is reason to argue that the way coaches handle this part of their profession can have a huge impact on how well they are able to do their job. This study explores how three experienced Norwegian elite football coaches (average 25 years of elite experience) interact with others in their clubs creating room for themselves and achieving their goals through micro-political activity and orchestration, i.e. coaches’ actions to increase their own influence and power within the organization. We collected data through semi-structured interviews. Then we used content analysis based on a theoretical framework consisting of the orchestration metaphor and studies on micropolitics and the three aspects of micropolitical proficiency. The results and discussion describe how the coaches handle the negotiation process before joining a club, how they handle managers and employees, and how they have developed their micropolitical skills through their careers. Their knowledge about and attention to these processes were integral parts of their coaching and leadership challenges. Knowledge of orchestration and micropolitics seemed to be important for the coaches in the current study. We therefore provide some suggestions as to how coaches can improve their ability to handle these elements in coach education and suggest possible future research and applied implications for coaches."
    Description: "Forskning på coaching i idrett har lenge vært opptatt av hvordan trenere samhandler med sine spillere. De siste årene har det blitt utført mer idrettspsykologisk forskning på trenerrollen, men treneres samhandling med overordnede og ansatte i klubbene har fått lite oppmerksomhet. Det er grunn til å hevde at måten trenere håndterer denne delen av sitt yrke på, kan ha stor innvirkning på hvor godt de er i stand til å utføre jobben sin. Denne studien går i dybden på hvordan tre erfarne norske elitefotballtrenere (gjennomsnittlig 25 års erfaring på elitenivå) samhandler med andre i klubbene for å skape handlingsrom for seg selv og for å nå sine mål gjennom mikropolitisk virksomhet og orkestrering, som kort fortalt handler om treneres handlinger for å øke sin egen innflytelse og påvirkningsmulighet i organisasjonen. Vi samlet data gjennom semi-strukturerte intervjuer. Deretter brukte vi innholdsanalyse basert på et teoretisk rammeverk bestående av orkestreringsmetaforen og studier på mikropolitikk og de tre aspektene av mikropolitiske ferdigheter. Resultatene og diskusjonen beskriver hvordan trenerne håndterer forhandlingsprosessen før de blir ansatt av en klubb, hvordan de håndterer overordnede og ansatte, og hvordan de har utviklet sin mikropolitiske kompetanse gjennom karrieren. Trenernes kunnskap og oppmerksomhet om disse prosessene var integrerte deler av deres coaching- og ledelsesutfordringer. Kunnskap om orkestrering og mikropolitikk syntes å være viktig for dem i den nåværende studien. Vi gir derfor noen forslag til hvordan trenere kan forbedre sin evne til å håndtere disse elementene i trenerutdanningen, og foreslår mulig fremtidig forskning og anvendte implikasjoner for trenere."

    Description: "Quality in teaching is a recurrent theme in discussions of higher education. We hear about unqualified lecturers and poor instruction, about classes that obfuscate rather than illuminate the subject matter, and teaching that fails to inspire and motivate students for learning. This anthology addresses the challenges university-level pedagogy faces and provides examples of teaching methods that can accommodate these challenges. The objective is to contribute with research-based knowledge, strategies for student-active learning and activities that stimulate learning, underscored with examples from pedagogical practice. The individual articles build on empirical data from four different subject areas: construction contracting, traffic and transport logistics, organizational studies and the compulsory philosophy course for undergraduate students in Norway (Examen philosophicum).
