Kunstvolle Briefe an andere Politiker und politisch einflussreiche Intellektuelle sollten das Problem lösen. Diese Briefe nutzten humanistische, juristische und theologische Metaphern, um Themen anzusprechen, die außerhalb der offiziellen Gremien tabu waren. Foscarini legte eine didaktisch aufgebaute Briefsammlung mit den wirksamsten seiner Briefe an –　ein Erfahrungsschatz, den er seinen Söhnen für ihre politischen Laufbahnen hinterließ.
