    Description: This book provides an overview of the modifications and interaction of the Second-Language Learning discursive formation and the Identity discursive formation over four centuries of Russian history. It proposes an explanatory model in which small-scale linguistic detail is combined harmoniously with larger-scale language units in order to illuminate matters of cultural importance in their linguistic guise. Hallmark of its interdisciplinary scope is the isomorphic interpretation of image and text. Compositionally, interdisciplinarity pours into a nonlinear narrative; this narrative follows a spiral, redefining on a higher level and in a different setting distinctions, which were first discovered on a lower level with the theoretical devices of other disciplines. The lower coil of the helix accommodates the complementary argumentations of anthropology and lexical semantics; the higher one brings the conclusions to the plane of discourse analysis and semiotics

    Description: Das vorliegende Buch "Differenzen und Interferenzen" ist eine Sammlung wissenschaftlicher (slavistischer) Studien, die vom Autor im deutschen bzw. englischen Sprachraum bereits veröffentlicht oder vorgetragen wurden. Als Ganzes ist es jedoch den südosteuropäischen Themen zugeordnet, wobei sich die einzelnen Beiträge konsistent in drei Problemkreise einordnen ließen. Der erste Kreis zeichnet sich durch grundsätzliche theoretische und literarhistorische Texte aus. Der zweite Kreis gilt den Fragen der Entstehung der Slavistik als einer wissenschaftlichen Disziplin und der Problematik, die ihr durch die vielseitigen Aktivitäten J. Kopitars auferlegt wurde. Den dritten Kreis bilden jene Texte, deren Thematik auch ein breiteres Lesepublikum anzusprechen vermag: die Entstehung und Entwicklung der slovenischen Literatur.

    Description: The collection of articles chosen by the editors presents a broad variety of issues connected with Jewish languages (Judeo-Spanish, Yiddish) and co-territorial languages used by Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews in different places and periods. Thus, the book contains both strictly linguistic and sociolinguistic descriptions (including the aspects of evaluating language, language in contact or linguistic identity), the presentation of languages in literary works (and their translations) from different periods, as well as lexicographical and cultural observations. This thematic variety shows opportunities for the research into the languages of both Jewish groups and inspires other scientific projects in this field.
