Description: In medical criminal law, there are often normative settings that deviate from the models of general criminal law norms: The central question therefore arises as to when this deviation can be understood as a "motor of innovation" for general criminal law and when it "unprincipledly" violates its well-founded framework. The Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law in Göttingen began its 15th colloquium with this fundamental topic, relating to the interactions between medical criminal law and general criminal law doctrines, and thus a small anniversary.

Description: Feedback from teachers is of great importance for the learning development of pupils. For optimal support of learning processes, it is important how students perceive and utilise feedback. Based on theoretical supply-utilisation models, this book addresses the question of the extent to which students in upper secondary school perceive feedback from teachers in German lessons differently and how this perception affects students' motivation development. The findings from latent change models provide information on the stability and change in feedback perception over the course of a school term as well as on differences in feedback perception between students. In addition, the longitudinal analyses highlight the interplay between different dimensions of feedback quality and the development of learning motivation. The findings expand the state of research on the perception of feedback and the development of differentiated effects on motivation and also open up a wide range of suggestions for educational practice.

Description: The Goettingen University acquired in 1773 a private natural history collection from Christian Wilhelm Buettner, one of its professors. This collection became the core of the University’s Academic Museum. In addition to thousands of items of natural history (minerals, plants, zoological items) 66 Art Things were part of Buettner‘s collection. The publication investigates the question, if and how the emergence of scholarly disciplines was stimulated by processes of forming and working with specific collections, taking the development of the Ethnographic collection starting from the 66 Art Things (1773) to the foundation of the Institute and Collection of Völkerkunde (1935/36) and the emergence of Völkerkunde as a university discipline in Göttingen as an example.

Description: As a new conservation paradigm, rewilding is quickly gaining popularity across Scotland. Against the urgencies of the Anthropocene, rewilding projects offer hope by imagining radical visions of biodiverse futures that promise liveability not just to humans but a large host of species. Based on multi-sited ethnographic fieldwork conducted in Scotland, this study explores the diverse multispecies temporalities that come to matter within rewilding. Scottish rewilding landscapes are populated by various beings and absences that blur rigid categorisations of linear temporality into past, present, and future. The ghosts of extirpated species continue to shape the becoming of landscapes, and the unruly presence of invasive alien species complicate the convivial ethics of rewilding initiatives. Following the temporal entanglements of various Scottish beasts, this book describes the interconnections between time, death, and belonging in storied landscapes.
