    Description: This book illustrates hitherto unexamined connections between the present state of teacher education in the UK and past models of practice. It locates contemporary debates within ongoing historical tensions over what constitutes a sound and proper start to a career in teaching. Questions as to the constituents of a professional training, the essential skills, knowledge and attitudes desired of an effective teacher, the most suitable locus of expertise, the relative roles of participants, and the balance of theory and practice lie at the heart of this book. The book reviews apprenticeship and teach-exemplar models of training, expert-novice relationships, model and demonstration teaching, school-based practice and the elaboration of core pedagogical principles in educational debate and research. These developments are assessed against recent initiatives in ITT, such as partnership models of ITT, school-based mentoring, advanced skills teaching, training schools, a standards-driven model of assessment for student teachers and models of effective teaching. Central to the book is the concept of the power to teach. By reclaiming this notion, the book offers challenging new perspectives on current policy and practice in teacher education today and adds to existing histories of teacher training of the past.

    Description: This paper aims to analyze the relationship between. perfectivisation and secondary imperfectivisation in Czech. Recent data show for loan verbs a strong tendency, after a short phase of biaspectualism, towards the creation of aspectual pairs through perfectivisation, e.g. bukovat - zabukovat (to book). This step does not necessarily conclude the process, since secondary imperfectives like zabukovávat are also frequent. This development is in opposition to the tendency towards the elimination of secondary imperfectives, which characterized the historical evolution of the Czech language (Šlosar 1981).

    Description: The subject of industrial relations is intimately connected with the nature of schooling - in particular, the teacher trade unions have played and will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the school system - yet this subject has been virtually neglected in educational literature. Mike Ironside and Roger Seifert's book redresses this balance and unravels the complex issues surrounding the employment and management of teachers. Recent changes in education have had massive implications for the way in which our education system is organised. In the light of recent events, this book questions who controls or ought to control schools, focusing on the government, Department of Education, LEA's, head teachers, school governors, parents and teaching unions.     Description: Title in English: Motivation Support in Teaching German as a Foreign Language (and Beyond) With regard to the proven significant impact of motivation on learning processes and their success, promoting learner’s motivation can be described as an important part of pedagogical activity. The current book presents research investigations into learners’ motivation in learning German as a foreign language. A qualitative research design conducted as a multi-case study was chosen in order to gain a deeper insight into the issue of motivation. The results obtained showed the wide scope of teachers’ motivating influence on their learners. Many of the existing findings on motivation could be verified. Moreover, the specifics of motivation towards German as a second foreign language as well as the culturally conditioned specifics concerning Czech learners’ attitudes towards the German language have been highlighted.

    Description: Title in English: Education of Students with Asperger Syndrome in the Inclusive Classroom. The methodological guide focuses on developing social, emotional, and communication skills of students with Asperger syndrome and their classmates, teachers, assistant teachers, and the school staff. We aim to extend knowledge on the specific approaches to students with AS in the inclusive classroom. We offer coping strategies in situations arising from the interaction between the school actors. A classroom adaptation and fostering positive relationships between classmates are the critical factors for positive school experiences of everybody. We present specific cases from the participatory classroom observation. Furthermore, we discuss the difficulties in the inclusive classroom and offer incentives to prevent these situations. We provide the readers with the specific activities for the groups with the students with AS.
