Abstract

Close parallels exist in Mössbauer-site signatures of Ge22xSn2xS3 glasses and crystalline alloys. The drastic loss of glass-forming tendency in this ternary for x≥0.62 correlates exactly with a change in molecular structure of corresponding crystals, thus favoring microcrystalline origin of glass formation.
