Les auteurs ont soumis des larves deStegobium paniceum L. à un régime contenant seulement des acides aminés. Ils ont aussi constaté expérimentalement que la levure, de même que les symbiontes intracellulaires fournissent des acides aminés en quantités variables selon l'hôte.
