Abstract

The suppression of heavy quarkonia, e.g., J/ψ, Υ, etc., is considered as a suitable probe to identify the nature of the matter created in heavy ion collisions. Recently we have presented a modified color screening model for J/ψ suppression in the quark gluon plasma (QGP) using a quasiparticle model as the equation of state. In this paper, we extend our model to calculate the anomalous suppression of various states of Υ arising due to QGP medium alone. We obtain the suppression patterns of the different bottomonia states with respect to centrality at various available collision energies and compare them with the available experimental data.
