Eine Bemerkung zur Abnahme des Salzgehaltes im Suezkanal

Zusammenfassung

Am Grunde des Großen Bittersees befinden sich Salzlager, welche den Salzgehalt in diesem Bereich des Suezkanals erhöhen. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, daß die beobachtete asymptotische Angleichung dieses überhöhten Salzgehaltes an den Endwert, welcher sich nach der Auflösung der Salzlager einstellen wird, auch vom theoretischen Standpunkt aus erwartet werden kann. Eine lineare Abnahme würde mit den bekannten Grundlösungen der Diffusionsgleichung hingegen nicht in Einklang stehen.

Zur Zeit ist der Endwert praktisch bereits erreicht.

Summary

Salt deposits on the bottom of the Great Bitter Lake increase the rate of salinity in this part of the Suez Canal. It may be noted that also theoretical considerations lead to an asymptotic decrease of the extremely high degree of salinity owing to mixing with the watermasses of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. A linear decrease in salinity would, however, not be compatible with the general fundamental solutions of the equation of diffusion.

In practice, the final value has, at present, already been reached.

Résumé

Au fond du Grand Lac Amer il se trouve des gisements de sel qui augmentent la salinité de l'eau dans cette zone du Canal de Suez. Il est à remarquer ici que des considérations théoriques conduisent, elles-aussi, à une diminution asymptotique de la salinité surélevée à cause des processus de mélange qui ont lieu entre des eaux du Canal de Suez et celles de la mer Rouge et de la Méditerranée. Une diminution linéaire ne sera pas compatible avec des solutions fondamentales ordinaires de l'équation de diffusion.

A présent, la valeur finale est déjà pratiquement atteinte.
