Abstract
A non-destructive method of quantitative analysis for boron is described. The method, which depends on the use of a plastic film to record tracks from the 10B(n, α)7Li reaction, is in general applicable to any solid material but is here described in detail for the analysis of ferrous alloys. Boron contents from 1 ppm to 10% may be determined, and the technique may be applied also to microanalysis of individual features such as precipitates and grain-boundaries in the metal structure.
