    This report examines the last ten years of tourism in New Zealand and gives a snapshot of the current state and performance of the tourism industry. It is the fifth publication in an annual series produced by Lincoln University and the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA). The State of the Industry 2015 presents a selection of data drawn principally from Statistics New Zealand (SNZ) with additional data supplied by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), Cruise New Zealand (CNZ), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) and the Fresh Information Company. The report also presents the results of a New Zealand-wide survey of businesses and organisations associated with tourism, which explored challenges, opportunities and future vision for tourism.

The objective of this is to understand better how the tourism sector sees its future and what challenges and opportunities lie ahead in both the short and longer term. State of the Tourism Sector 2012 provides a current view of the tourism sector for those within the industry and for external stakeholders who have an interest in tourism in New Zealand.
