Abstract
As part of a general investigation into the physiology of rose hips, the organic acid content of the flesh was followed during development in the species arvensis, canina, rubiginosa, Sherardi and rugosa. The first four indigenous species were chosen to cover the wide range of ascorbic acid concentration found in the flesh of different species growing in one area1,2, while rugosa was included because other aspects of its physiology were under examination3,4.
